Remember, in the examples he gave, the international community weren't too late to stop genocides because they didn't know about them, they were too late because they ignored them time and again.
When the people with power to stop genocide decided to do genocide then all the international community would do is diplomatic protests and maybe sanction. That clearly doesn't help all the minorities getting axed.

But the later ones, being feed by social media, are the worst.

What happened in Syria was horrible too, some children were killed after they criticized president Bashar Al Asad. When people called for justice for kids, they were killed too, Bashar Al Asad Laughed at them publicly and called them (Germs ) he is a doctor by the way! Then the Genocide began, a lot of countries claimed they will enter the war to bring back peace and fight Isis members that were let out of prison during the chios . Then sadly they all took part in the genocide by Air striking civilians, it lasted more than 10 years and Bashar is still in power. Very enlightening. I could never understand why people who are "different" are mistreated for it. There's no excuse for it but it has always been going on, whether it's in families, classrooms, or nations.
Ironically, it is the denial of death that motivates average people to commit genocide. The targeted group is symbolized as a harbinger of death, which then helps the persecutors to cope with their inevitable mortality by "killing death" itself. The politicians and those in power use this drive as a way to hold onto power.
It’s absolutely crazy and unsurprising at the same time how these exact things are happening right now. And the most unbelievable part is that some will hear these straightforward facts and see all of the evidence and STILL deny that it is a genocide.

For unborn individuals, the signs have been happening Classification and dehumanization has been a . Somehow, a human is "a clump of cells" until they "touch air" then they are suddenly worthy. In some places, they are dehumanized even after birth, where parents can choose to kill their own children up to hours after birth. Discriminatory laws allow unborn humans to be killed on a whim, with no regards for morality or human life. This is more than discrimination. This is active genocide. Polarization is also being weaponized since we have an entire side saying "infanticide is good and needed" while places like Planned Parenthood serve as eugenic centers targeting the African American population (with 78% of Planned Parenthoods located in areas primarily African American in population) just like the founder of Planned Parenthood intended. So now, Chimps and Humans wage war and commit genocide.
indeed, I just don't find it realistic to have "denial" as a step. My reasoning is that having denial as a gives someone the power to claim the truth is wrong because they are in denial. I just feel it allows people to put others into a negative light over something that isn't happening.
In your examples of past genocides you mentioned, germany, rwanda etc....but you never mentioned European colonial empires that basically did genocides around the world and how they justified it/rewrite history by claiming their victims were savages that needed to be civilized. I am a 48 year old male from Haifa, Israel. As I progressed through the stages, this video made me cry. I lived my entire life in a bubble believing everything the state showed us. Like every fellow citizen I too believed that they are anti-Semitic and just want to eliminate us by carrying out stabbing attacks. Then came Oct 7th which shook the entire country including me and I spent some time learning history from the Palestinian perspective and why they actually do what they do, it just shattered my existence. For the first time in my life, I got to learn what has been actually happening for the last 70+ years. How most of them were systematically wiped out from Israel, pushed into tiny pockets, imposed military law upon them, and then made illegal for Israelis to visit there. Although most of the Israelis were against settlements in the West Bank, no one cared enough to stop them. Our local media never covered attacks on Palestinians, they were always tried in military courts. Most of the things that happened to them throughout history, the average Israeli doesn't even know. I want to tell the world that not every Israeli agrees to what is happening. I am trying my best to make a difference on an individual level. My countrymen have started opening their eyes and things will only go towards a better future from here. We both people need to coexist in one land with equality and it can only happen through peaceful resistance.
Uh huh, you are an "Israeli". The Palestinian media and leaders openly call for murder of Jews and demonize Jews, twist history, and deny the holocaust. In the Israeli media on the other hand racism is not tolerated, and politicians receive big backlash for wrongdoings. Israeli terrorists as Baruch Goldstein for example, are known as terrorists by the Israeli society, while Pro-Palestinians often call their terrorists "freedom fighters", exactly like in the 7 of october attack, that is justified by those. Arab leaders literally called to throw the Jews to the sea, stole lands in the war, and rejected any peace offer. 20% of Israelis are Arabs, but there are no Jews at all in Gaza or under the PA. The Palestinians are exactly being indoctrinated to hate Jews and are experiencing these 10 stages. The absolute majority of Israelis understand that, and call out the racism against Jews, and the fact that every peace offer has been rejected.
They were "wiped out" of Israel because Palestinians kept attacking Israel, not the other way around, Palestinians even today live in Israel and Israel permites them to work and serve in the IDF, there is no distinction, Israelis can't live among Palestinians in Palestinian territory because they get lynched. They don't want a 2 state solution and never did (not even once they accepted such a thing), they want everything, "from the river to the sea" means everything is theirs, including Israel's land, they will get it, one way or another. But go on, give them a hand and a try to hug them, thinking that they are just this oppresed group of people that just wants peace and a small state, and see for yourself what happens, just as a little spoiler: the 7th of October attacks gave you a small teaser of what will happen, go on with that information in mind, i'm sure they will be very happy to see that the sheep goes to the slaughter willingly..
It's easy to understand when you consider that Israel was a settler-colonial state from it's very foundation. What's happening now isn't "new", it's just a continuation of what's been happening for decades.

Interestingly Tulsa is one example where the African Americans had weapons (many were WWI veterans) but the whites had more weapons (including dynamite and aircraft) and were able to pull from state and federal resources.
If that’s the case than it’s the worst genocide ever considering it takes them 70 years to pull it off and while they do that the Palestinian population tripled. You’d expect a country full of people who were allegedly genocided by Nazi Germany and lost 6 millions people to learn a thing or two from their killers lol.
Knowledge is definitely not enough to prevent genocide. For example, look at the genocide of uyghurs in Xinjiang province of continental China that is occuring even at the moment and orchestrated by the CCP. The west has plentiful evidence and understanding about the genocide, yet does nothing. To prevent a genocide, not only the knowledge of it is needed, but actual political will, and a lot of power, to pressure the perpetrator faction to stand down. By the time, when an organisation comes to genocide the undesirables, it is so crooked and bestial in nature, that it only responds existential threats. Even then, when Hitler realised the losing trend of the Third Reich, instead of reallocating the resources from his genocide machine to the german war machine to fight off the imminent loss, he opted to allocate more resource on genocide endeavours. In order to have a genocidal faction to stand down, one has to make a really brutish example, such as was the nuking of two japanese cities to force the imperial Japan to surrender.
Heavy on the victim blaming!! Ive heard so many excuses from israel like "the palestinians dont care about their children and force us to kill them." Or the "human shields" argument or just straight up blaming palestinians for killing other palestinians like they did when Shireen Abu Akleh was sniped or Hamas getting blamed for the bombing of a Palestinian hospital. All of which israel later admitted that they commited.
Ironically, these stages will probably be used by awful people to classify small, powerless, or disproportionately blamed groups as "trying to commit genocide" and therefore sub-human.
February 25th, 2024 I think that besides having the knowledge of what a genocide is, people should also try and spread this knowledge and protest/talk about it when they can.

Knowledge is not enough to prevent genocide. Strong leadership or bravery is required. Seeing it happening and standing back out of cowardice or denial will not stop genocide. The society must be brave enough to stand up and protect those being targeted, and effect change to reverse the trend.

But at the same time anyone with common sense would agree that saying someone with diabetes being labelled as diabetic is a "stage one genocide" would be absolutely moronic
Crazy how most things below mass murder are just people disliking a group of people for various reasons. You could argue based on this model that American blacks have been on a stage 6 or 7 genocide for basically 250 years without there ever actually being a mass concerted effort to obliterate them. This model isn’t flawless to say the least
@rhysjonsmusic because stage 1 also includes *blame.* If someone said "these damn diabetics are the reason our healthcare is fucked up" THAT would be stage 1.
@@SnailSnail-lo4pm Pointing out that people with chronic diseases (like diabetes, obesity, gender dysphoria, etc.) are the primary drivers of healthcare expenses is still not stage one of a genocide. Or if you're willing to argue that people are working towards a genocide against Americans, I'm willing to entertain that argument. ("Americans have the largest carbon footprint and are the main drivers of climate change," is an all-too-common refrain.)
False claims of being victims of the target group I think should be stressed more. It happened in every major genocide early and is probably the strongest driver of public sentiment towards acceptance of the atrocity.
It doesn't even have to be false claims. In fact, trying to prove the claim "false" is often what further triggers hatred, because people feel that their lived experience is being denied. If one group committed a terrorist attack against another group, it's not false to say that the former victimized the latter. Saying it's false will only make the latter feel more incensed and self-righteous, more justified in their anger and hatred. What actually needs to be communicated (and this isn't easy) is that groups can't suffer. Only individuals can suffer. So a group can't be punished, only individuals can. So when you punish a group for the actions of a few individuals who claim to represent that group, you're essentially letting the actual culprits off scot free by displacing their punishment onto random individuals, who'll suffer on their behalf. But this is further complicated by the fact that discrimination and marginalization often makes people identify even harder with their narrow tribal identities, so it becomes even easier to connect the culprits with all the random people who just happen to be part of the same group or tribe. Which in turn makes it easier to justify collective punishment.
Like how the Ukrainians claim they are victims of the Russians within reality. It was the Ukrainian to opened fire upon unarmed voting protesters when they voiced their objections to their mistreatment by Kyiv. And like how the Arabs complain the Jews victimized them when in reality, the Arabs not only begin with 90% of the land, but they also didn’t even let the Jewish state exist for five hours before they welcomed in and assisted the invading armies, were trying to kill every single Jew, and they did this more than once.
I feel like one of the most scary things about a genocide is how easy it is for believe in what they are doing. The reason they do it is because they so desparately believe that genocide will solve everything.
Well. No. That's just an excuse, they actually commit the genocide because of preexisting hostile feelings of the genocidal population towards the other group. The Europeans overall in the 1930's were awful, ethnocentric, racist, Nations/Tribal groups, who were hostile to 1. Other European Nations, 2. Even more so to non European peoples who still possessed pale skin and similar "Caucasian" generic phenotypical appearance, even 3. More so, those like Jewish people, Gypsy people, and Asian and Dark skinned people like Sub-Saharan Africans southern Indians, Australian Aborigines, and New Guinea Tribesmen. So in big numbers they were okay with eliminating those other people so they wouldn't have to share the limited wealth with them. They never say them as human like their people, so they were okay with eliminating them. It's the same reason Europeans were okay with enslaving Africans, and later Colonializing Africa itself, and slaughtering the Native Americans to create the modern English, Spanish, French speaking countries there. With that sentiment, it was actually more difficult to protect, say, Gypsy people from the hateful populace thsn to allow or provoke the populace to commit to genocide of that group. Now. In 2023, the population overall in Europe appears to be much more tolerant of people different from them, so a genocide attempt seems impossible there, at least for now.
Also there’s a bias against thinking your group is capable of evil acts. So more moderate members of a group will tend to downplay that a genocide is happening or has happened because they don’t want to think a group they’re associated with has done such things. Take for example the way Germans who lived through WW2 said they had no idea their government was committing genocide. While this could certainly be true it’s much more likely they saw signs of what was going on, enough to figure it out, except that would have meant believing their people were capable of such evil acts.
Well When a race makes up 13-14% of the population but causes over 50% of the crime in America getting rid of said race isn't really that bad of a idea sure it won't fix everything but i will fix a lot of issues simultaneously and improve society overall you can claim its bad or morally wrong but sometimes for the greater good of humanity and society sacrifices have to be made life isn't fair and morality isnt black and white maybe if this said race changed thier ways and culture and started contributing to society in a positive manner such ideas or plans wouldn't be necessary or even brought up
Any time of the year in the past few decades or so can be considered a timely manner. But if what you meant by that is a period of time where the message will be more readily received an effectively when then maybe within the past two years or so. mid and post covid a lot more people have been given a reality check prior to that I would say the majority of the global population especially in the more westernized part of the world are what the edgy kids call sheeple.

Hi! As an historian, I have to admit... Great video to explain such a complex matter! But if it's possible, I would like to add one small detail, that in the video didn't really got a long timing: the concept of completely erasing the victims from history, not only phisically, but their culture as well. In fact, if you look for example at the Jews' genocide in the 40s or the Armenians' one during WWI, you can clearly see that after the genocide, the dominant class ALWAYS tried not only to fake they never existed, but they also tried to cancel their names/surnames, cancel cult places (like churches), cancel cultures or whatever book a writer of that ethnicity belonged to... So it is not only a phisical erasing, but usually during genocide it's also a cultural one: that's why the word "genocide" it's a VERY heavy one and MUST be used very carefully!!! Except that... Excellent video!! Keep the good work going, pal!! :)
this is why genocide can be used in cases where the cultural identity of an entire group of people is erased, like by stealing children and banning languages and practices and subjecting them to forced reeducation and sterilization and rewriting history, i remember the discussion came up with the uighur camps, its not just about the death toll
@@JustinlADFP probably why a bunch of nations prefer to think of genocide as million plus people murders and not all the shit a lot of european nations been up to, even denmarks found guilty of lowkey doing the same kinda thing to greenlanders
I have been trying to understand mechanism of genocide, one pattern I notice is the perpetrators often bring in a convincing accusation on the intended group. Convincing being the keyword, because thats the only way objective criticism to any propaganda gets deadlocked. As the critics get tangled up in explaining the malicious intents and propaganda, the general public (which includes skeptical people who didn’t have the time or convenience to keep up with it) get overwhelmed by all the to and fro arguments, confusing narratives and decide to stay “neutral”. I feel this ‘neutrality’ is as much a tool as everything in genocide, people are intentionally pushed to collect in that corner, few healthy peer discussions get shut down because of the ‘urgency of the matter!!’, “exploring history and logic when children are dying is cruel!!”. Human conflicts are always complicated, pushing people to form quick opinions from all that they see and hear without even letting them ask questions will lead to exactly what we see today, people say nothing at all or echo whatever they hear loudest at that moment and not commit to this stance beyond a social media post.
“When the Nazis came to take the communists, I remained silent; I wasn't a communist. When they locked up the Social Democrats, I remained silent; I wasn't a social democrat. When they took the unionists, I didn't protest; I wasn't a trade unionist. When they took the Jews, I was silent; I wasn't Jewish. When they came for me, there was no one left to protest.” Martin Niemöller Never stay neutral, always take a stand for your values, especially in the face of death. People might unite with you and if they do not, your stance will inspire future generations.
I don't think the accusations are always convincing. I've seen some accusations against Jews that are absolutely mental. Just look at how much effort Al Jazeera puts into their propaganda. Zero. They know their crowd is already prejudiced, all the propaganda is doing is fueling their anger and hatred and channeling it against the Jews. I know a guy like this, and I can't talk to him, he is absolutely insane. He reads Al Jazeera and bakes his brain on whatever ridiculous thing they say Jews did. He believes really crazy things too--one time he told me it's just as likely a million children are missing in the US because Jews are snatching them, as it is likely that the six million Jews that went missing in WWII went missing due to the Holocaust. Millions of these people are marching all over the world right now, and they're all reading poorly crafted antisemitic propaganda from Al Jazeera.
It’s interesting how you note that overwhelming people with information or corrupting information destroy people who would otherwise take action and neutralizes them. I feel like that’s one thing we are swimming in is a very complicated, often faulty, sea of information eating away at moral certainty.
@@michal31131 I don't understand what you mean here. But the phrase "from the river to the sea palestine will be free" Means that all Palestinians should have rights and freedom from the river to the sea.
The claim that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza is a serious accusation that is not supported by the legal definition of genocide or the facts on the ground. Genocide is defined by the UN as \"acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group\"¹. While the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has resulted in a high number of civilian casualties and humanitarian suffering, there is no evidence that Israel has deliberately targeted Palestinians as a group or sought to eliminate them. On the contrary, Israel has stated that its military operation is aimed at destroying Hamas's military and governing capabilities, as well as freeing the hostages taken by Hamas during its attack on Israel on 7 October 2023². Israel has also claimed that it has taken measures to minimize civilian harm, such as warning residents of impending strikes and aborting missions when civilians are detected³. The claim that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza also ignores the role and responsibility of Hamas, the Islamist militant group that controls Gaza and is considered a terrorist organization by Israel, the UK, US and other Western powers⁴. Hamas has been accused of using civilians as human shields, storing weapons and launching rockets from densely populated areas, and preventing people from fleeing or accessing humanitarian aid⁵. Hamas has also been condemned for its indiscriminate rocket attacks on Israeli cities, which have killed and injured civilians and disrupted daily life⁶. Hamas's charter calls for the destruction of Israel and the establishment of an Islamic state in Palestine, and rejects any peaceful solution to the conflict. Therefore, the claim that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza is false and inflammatory. It does not reflect the reality or the complexity of the situation.

The last stage, Denial, is the one that stops from holding the criminals accountable. How can we hold them accountable if the society and the state both agree to deny it? The answer as given is an international watch but if there is said watch as an institution has no influence nor ways to seek justice or give punishments then none will be given. And this becomes even harder when most nations are starting to pull out from said organizations.
The issue is that all these genocide watch activities are created for looking outward fro shaming others and never used for prosecuting inward. Hence, hypocrisy of the whole exercise makes everyone cynical. While "whataboutism" is used as a slander, it has a very valid premise in its core. Rules that are applied selectively are worse than the total absence of rules.

Rule of Thumb: Collectivism in general tends to go the route of genocide. Beware of anyone who sees society as a collective or divided into collectives. In particular those who claim their preferred collective is "opressed" by another collective. The narrative structure is always very similar. Some examples: "Germans are opressed by Jews and their Jewish Conspiracy" "Workers are opressed by Capitalists and their Capitalist System" "Women are opressed by Men and the Patriarchy" "Blacks are opressed by Whites and their Systemic Racism" "Men are opressed by Women and their Gynocentric System" "LGBTQP+ are opressed by Cis-people and their Heteronormative System". @@shaolinabbott9161 "Otherwise, why would Israeli forces give advance notice and encourage evacuation before bombing areas?" Intentional and forced displacement of civilian populations against their will is a common component of genocide. The United States genocides against native populations is a key example, but even Nazi Germany pushed Jews into ghettos and had plans to deport them en-masse out of Germany. It doesn't matter if Israel is gives notice and "encourages" them to evacuate. They have created the conditions by which they need to evacuate. "Why is Hamas preventing Palestinian civilians from fleeing" Total non-sequitur and irrelevant in determining whether or not Israel is engaged in genocide. This an excellent video. Incredibly informative, no biased language, actually alludes to real historical instances, and an incredibly important factor: addresses that events like these always need to be addressed! Like another commenter pointed out, knowledge alone will not prevent genocides. It also requires efforts from people to end and prevent them.
It is biased actually. It shows the ones doing the actions as irredeemable evil, while showing the persecuted as incorruptible pure and good. That is not always the case. Say, for example, that you have a peaceful society, a civil one, where the law is fair, there's no discrimination or prejudice, and people are free. Then, another tribe shows up, or forms witihn the society, that brings the hatred and the desire for power, the desire to kill or enslave those who disagree with them, who see themselves as "the good guys" with complete conviction that cannot be shaken with data and reason. You have very few options in how to deal with that without resorting to extermination (which should always be used as a last resort, as not all members of this tribe or cult are iredeemable). First thing is to try to diminish their power: that means they should not get a single foot into any education institution, because otherwise they will start poisoning the minds of the children, convincing them that their society is evil and corrupt and "unfair", they will create a mythology of them being "opressed by the system" (examples: "germans opressed by a jewish conspìracy" "workers opressed by capitalism" "women opressed by the patriarchy" "blacks opressed by systemic racism" "LGBTQP+ opressed by heteronormativity" etc). If you fail on that, they will inevitably gain power, and will start mobilizing militants, who will go on to do terrorist activity masking it as "activism": taking over public spaces by force, attacking local law enforcement, commiting arson and vandalism, beating dissidents, etc. You see that with the brownshirts, the blackshirts, the bolsheviks, antifa, and blm. At that point, you basically need to get rid of them, by exile or jail, you need to start looking for those that have been radicalized and keep them out of society while trying to save as many as you can by breaking the indoctrination, which is no easy feat as it's usually religious in nature (all forms of Socialism, be Natsim, communism, fascism, or progressivism, are Theological in nature, not secular). And if they launch a full scale invasion or revolt to destroy your society? Then it's war. Well, it was a war from the start really.

The part that is missing from this video is how the international community may support or cheer on the genocide as it's happening but then try to rewrite history to absolve guilt after the fact. For example, the popularity of eugenics and Nazis in the US prior to WW2.
It wasn't just the US and Germany pushing eugenics. It was a beloved thought worldwide. England and many other countries were just as guilty. No one bothered to look beyond the basics if "wouldn't it be nice if only the fittest existed?" No thought of the actual methods and such. It was only understood as bad AFTER Germany. Communism is treated much the same. Few understand the side effects until they live it. Even those who hate it often fail to understand, merely seeing them as the dreaded "other." Meanwhile Japan is permanently in denial.about their genocidal efforts.
Eugenics is popular NOW. Tf u think abortion is. Norway was internationally celebrated for eliminating down syndrome and all they did was force or incentivize abortions for women who carried down syndrome affected babies. All the way up to 9 months in the womb. This was literally what the nazis did to disabled people to make the aryan race "stronger" Same exact shit they just removed the race rhetoric from it. While the natives whose families lived on this land for thousands of years are not allowed to return, Jews from all over the world are welcome to instant citizenship.

Just to add one point: Most people who can do something, thinks they are a decently strong willed, and relatively good person, and will never become part of the perpetrator participating in such atrocities...This can be a dangerous notion to held on to, as this has happened over and over throughout history. The mind en masse can be easily manipulated over time and combined that with a strong "certainty" that: "I'm an rational good person, whose actions can never be that bad", that's the hubris ingredient that binds everything together and brings about the horrors in this video. But the later ones, being feed by social media, are the worst.
As a child I never thought I'd be the target of one, now I can't visit my friends across my country's Southern border without risk of being arrested in some places or gunned down by a nutcase in others just for holding hands with my partner or talking with a slightly too masculine voice.
It’s horrifying to watch literally children being slaughtered on my phone and the world around me going on like nothings happened

Right now, this video is incredibly relevant to current American politics...
Sounds like the Republican wet dream.
as a non American, may I ask how is it relevant?
For LGBTQ individuals, a lot of signs are already happening
Classification and dehumanization is already put into practice. We are compared to pedophiles, disease spreaders, corruptors of youth, groomers, rapists, etc.
Discriminatory laws are also being passed and accepted by various states.
Polarization is also being weaponized
Also we are currently in a recession, wages are stagnant, many families are 1 paycheck or 1 expensive misfortune away from homelessness.
The politics in america are a two party system. Either democrats, or republicans. The politician winning on the republican side is an extremist narcissist, who is currently facing many lawsuits due to corruption, leaking confidential documents, tampering with voter numbers, and many more. The people who vote for him are denying reality due to polarization and propaganda
For unborn individuals, the signs have been happening
Classification and dehumanization has been a .
Also we are currently in a recession, wages are stagnant, many families are 1 paycheck or 1 expensive misfortune away from homelessness. Even outside of the considerations, many say "it would be cruel to let this person live" as if they are mercy killing.
The politics in America are a two party system. Either democrats, or republicans. The politician winning on the democrat side is currently not at all here mentally, which allows the ruling party to make any decision they like in the background. This is the most obvious form of corruption, plus tampering with voter numbers, and many more. The people who vote for him are denying reality due to polarization and propaganda, since they somehow believe that some humans are not worthy of life itself. The current president has also leaked confidential documents by stealing them during his tenure as vice president, meaning that he had even less right
The last paragraph is why its a problem in America. This is a global issue concerning the lives of hundreds of millions. In America, there is no debate that medical emergencies may require sacrifice. In over 99% of cases however, infanticide is acted out by the uncaring or unaware adults that parent the infants.
There are multiple genocides happening or about to happen throughout the world, but this genocide has taken the most human life in our history by being deemed "women's rights" by the ruling class. Without stopping this blatant discarding of human life, how can we hope to stop other genocides?

Stay on the right side of history. 🇵🇸

Knowledge is not enough to prevent genocide. Strong leadership or bravery is required. Seeing it happening and standing back out of cowardice or denial will not stop genocide. The society must be brave enough to stand up and protect those being targeted, and effect change to reverse the trend.
Society doesn't stand up. Only individuals. Are you prepared to stand up?

Unfortunately this kind of early warning system loses its effectiveness when people minimize everything below stage 9 as "not actually genocide".
Would at best be considered segregation though
But at the same time anyone with common sense would agree that saying someone with diabetes being labelled as diabetic is a "stage one genocide" would be absolutely moronic
Crazy how most things below mass murder are just people disliking a group of people for various reasons. You could argue based on this model that American blacks have been on a stage 6 or 7 genocide for basically 250 years without there ever actually being a mass concerted effort to obliterate them. This model isn’t flawless to say the least
@rhysjonsmusic because stage 1 also includes *blame.*
If someone said "these damn diabetics are the reason our healthcare is fucked up" THAT would be stage 1.
Yes, this is a very important element that peaks through brutal propaganda campaigns that last years and are unavoidable by the trapped public.
THIS!!!!
@@Mortablunt 3:21 Reminds me of Russia and your comment.
Now. In 2023, the population overall in Europe appears to be much more tolerant of people different from them, so a genocide attempt seems impossible there, at least for now.
yep, it's awesome knowing EXACTLY why they want to kill me and everyone I love.

In defence of the people of Israel, it is clear that they have been blinded by the propaganda they have been fed over mny years.
When you look into the full historical context of this conflict, it becomes clear how pernisciously the refugees from European Death Camps were betrayed by their Zionist leaders. Why did they allow "their people" to be herded into an already destabilised region, instead of insisting on being given a substantial piece of fertile land in Germany as reparation.
there is no armenian genocide
this is why genocide can be used in cases where the cultural identity of an entire group of people is erased, like by stealing children and banning languages and practices and subjecting them to forced reeducation and sterilization and rewriting history, i remember the discussion came up with the uighur camps, its not just about the death toll

When they came for me, there was no one left to protest.” Martin Niemöller
Never stay neutral, always take a stand for your values, especially in the face of death.

Rule of Thumb:
Collectivism in general tends to go the route of genocide.
Beware of anyone who sees society as a collective or divided into collectives. In particular those who claim their preferred collective is "opressed" by another collective.
The narrative structure is always very similar. Some examples:
"Germans are opressed by Jews and their Jewish Conspiracy"
"Workers are opressed by Capitalists and their Capitalist System"
"Women are opressed by Men and the Patriarchy"

@bas_ee "wanting to force our own ideas upon eachother in some way" can be done without cruelty or even violence. It's not a "necessary evil". Genocide is just a very specific subset of that. Except that there isn't a genocide occurring in Gaza. Otherwise, why would Israeli forces give advance notice and encourage evacuation before bombing areas? Why is Hamas preventing Palestinian civilians from fleeing, even going so far as to shoot and kill them in order to make them stay? Why, if Israel is planning genocide, has the Palestinian population more then doubled since 2006? You'd think that people who were victims of the Holocaust would understand that genocide involves making another group's numbers drop, not grow.
There is no genocide going on in Gaza 😂
quit being so dramatic
"Why, if Israel is planning genocide, has the Palestinian population more then doubled since 2006?" How "successful" a genocide is does not constitute whether or not a genocide has or is currently taking place. What matters is (a) intent, and (b) physical action taken to further that intent.
"You'd think that people who were victims of the Holocaust would understand that genocide involves making another group's numbers drop, not grow." Good point. A lot of the school yard bullying, if done by adults, are crimes like assault and harassment. It's about letting certain things be excused and normalized.
Yeah, when I was in school I was harassed and assaulted in a variety of ways. Stalked by kids that thought they didn't have anything better to do than wait for me to go to my locker or try to sit down anywhere in the cafeteria, so they could push and shove or take my stuff. There were also kids who thought bouncing balls off my head as hard as they could, in gym class, was funny. And there even was a teen in high school who went as far as to start touching my back, sides, hair, etc, rubbing his hand across it. After sufficient laughs and support from the other students for his misbehavior, he then took it up a notch and threatened to assault me outside the classroom door (it was an annex room where we had to wait outside for the teacher to unlock the door). I then got him expelled for making that threat, and was finally left alone by everyone else in that class.

Read their reports, they are following their own steps to genocide.
@@IsmaelSantos-xv9qf Thank you for this comprehensive demonstration of stages 1, 4, and particularly 6.
@@2koi516 Also, if you believe truly evil people do not exist, then you are either evil yourself and don't realize it, or you are a fool.
For example. Do you think people like Lenin, Adolf, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, etc were "good" ?
Do you think you are above commiting such actions? Because as far as I know every single human being has the potential to embrace that evil, specially those with utopian aspirations.
Beware of that.

4- actually there is more dehumanisation in the other way
5- most settlers arent armed and you can count on your hand the cases of Palestinians killed by settlers. However, hundreds of jews have been voctims of terrorist attacks by palestinian civilians.
6- you are right, Hamas is doing that
7-
8- mass bombing that have killed just 1% of an unprotected population (because Hamas used the money for rockets instead of building shelters to civilians).
9- same as 8. The numbers speak for themselves - not a genocide.
