Disclaimer : Yes, it is only an update to 24 that we pay for, I agree with the general complaints, Im sorely talking gameplay wise What people fail to acknowledge is that one of the main isssues of this game is its community, 90% of the players still play pre NHL23 hitting fest braindead northsouth crosscrease forcing OR they do the same 2-3 cheesy plays every game, refusing to learn buttons let alone new mechanics like holding R1 or RB for a few secs then R stick up for a huge dump or understanding that on D you can crosscheck anybody that posts up in the slot every 2sec as long as you dont move your left stick there is no risk of penalty untill the opponent stops posting up. Or that passing without handling the R joystick is a shotgun pass and that handling the right joystick makes the pass much better and allows to pick a passing lane instead of using the default one thats easy to read or poke. Or that if you sticklift the opponent your stick needs to be on the same side as his and at the right gap distance aka not too close not too far which promotes gap management, when I acknowledged that mechanic, I could then stick lift all game with almost never taking a penalty for it, Im so used to its mechanic that i actively do it to people without the puck, it is not a penalty button. I agree that people that get hit shouldnt get up that quick after big hits but that is a prime example of EA going away from arcade hit fest by drasticly nerfing hitting forcing players to play actual team defense which is great and shows how EA is taking steps towards realism and having a fair counter system, in 25 they said players will stay down longer after big hits especially if they are smaller, smaller players wlll hit less powerfully and biggger players will hit harder, we'll see. Also having the option to either crosscheck or shoulder check is another step towards realism and is very efficient if used at the right moment, for example on D you can use your positioning to box someone out and if you land a good poke or sweep you come in with a crosscheck to then have an easy puck pickup for either you or whoever was supporting you, it sounds hard but its very effective and doesnt take long to master. Almost nobody realizes that there is a good counter system meaning there is a counter to every single thing in the game and that it is actually trying to be more of a simulation in some ways : they actively try to reward east west hockey getting away from the repetitive and boring north south meta, it got away from the hitting meta, now its about positinioning taking runs with the carrier while you have support watching mid to create 2 on 1 pockets on D or offense instead of going for 50-50 defensive plays and run and gun offense(thats why alot of players think the game is bad), it promotes cycling, rebound shots, creativty, stick sweeps, tips, screens, support plays, teamwork, etc. You cant beat good teams if you dont play as team now, otherwise you'll only beat bad teams. If you actually watch hockey a lot youd know more than half of goals scored are garbage goals so even that is realistic to a degree but it is ruined by EAs DDA. That being said, I agree that they should show a unified front and seperate EASHL from Chel instead of taking steps towards a more realistc gameplay but adding arcade stuff like fortnite skins in club and such, making it hard for players who do not understand videogame programming(no shame in that) to see the effort towards realism and the conflict of interest within EA to push arcady stuff and of course heavily interfere with the game with DDA(they adjust tuners during games to compensate for the skill gap more than ever). EASHLshould be full simulation no intereference from EA. For example if youre down 0-2 but you control the game but you have 10x more passes than the other team the DDA will still help the opponents by adjusting tuners, thats why there is alot of cheap goals, if DDA wasnt a thing it would be easier for people to see the steps towards realism that the devs taking. Sorry for the long message but I think its important to stay neutral in this situation. Your complains will hopefully push EA to act so please dont stop. Aslo it should be a new game every 2-3 years, they can sell alot of DLC, skins and packs while updating the game to keep the money flowing and it would prevent them from having less than 9months to work on a new game. Also another thing that was new from this year is that they kept updating the game for months after 24s release which was never done before. I also think the 1 timers will be OP for the first few weeks in 25 so that everybody can score and then they'll nerf it a few weeks later, typical EA thing to do and isnt needed at all. Be A pro not being changed and the new HUT reward system are jokes though. We are paying for 1 big update I know, but this text was about the game itself. I study hockey daily, watch alot of it and am a top player in HUT and EASHL for a long time on top of playing franchise mode alot for more than 20years, I also am good at programming games and understand their mechanics, yes EAs programming is rushed and flawed(ex : hitting someone thats behind you is bad/rushed programmation of the way the hitting animation interects with other players hitboxes, but thats really hard to program, they need years not months for it to be perfect. TLDR : Since NHL23 its a new dev team and you can truly see the effort towards a better game I think, they just have to show a unified front not a mix of arcade and realist concepts mixed together leaving the playerbase confused.
It's the same thing every year. Guys cry and bitch about how bad the game is and they say they will never buy it again. Then EA makes up sone new buzz word and the same idiots are ready to preorder the game again.
I think a major issue is that major sport games just arent meant to be played the amount that the player base consumes them in HUT and WOC specifically. In the good old days franchise would see big updates each year and we would almost make our own fun? Now even the casual player will put in 5-10 weeks for even 6 months out of the year and thats just a huge amount of time played on a game dev cycle thats essentially 12 weeks a year. I have been baited in the past, and have gotten so caught up in the hype over the years but the longer Im in the industry I get a better handle on if a game will meet, fall far below or exceed the general player base expectations. I think 25 will surprise Franchise mode players and HUT finally has a different weekly play cycle. Its got a shot to be better than 23 and 24 and thats all I hope for lol.
I fall into this category 😂! But I don’t play any other video games.. I tried golf but hard to find a good game! And honestly.. I freaking love hockey!!!
Its far to early to tell, but I get the sense that the game will be much more east and west. Making you get creative to get time and space, meaning defense should be easier. I pray we can actually stick lift again lol
I promise vision control wont look like what you are describing, but I cant gaurentee the player base wont find some new way to exploit it. Could be better, could be worse
Exhaust engine better be scrapped in this edition. As primarily an EASHL club player, customization, menus, servers, builds, earnings, accolades all need an upgrade. Above all of that though, ffs EA fix the broken gameplay first.
The NHL series is by far the game I play the most. I’m in a few leagues (AGL, NAVHL, played some LG when I had time), and I love the competition and the fun with friends. WoC-imo-is the best mode and the true multiplayer experience that sport games strive for. But, it’s been frustrating over the years with bad human-goalie animations, L2 spammers (which are basically gone Thank God), and X-Factor abilities that really need to be dropped altogether. I’m hoping that WoC sees positive change. Last year’s Fortnite-ification of NHL was tough to be a part of. I understand they’re trying to get casual fans and of course kids. But then give us multiple options for WoC in terms of gameplay: Arcade and Simulation. It’s ok to have 3-2, 5-3 games in WoC. That’s real hockey, something a lot of us players actually want. That’s what a simulation, pro mode should be. They’re supposed to be pro players, right? Let us have that in WoC. Let skills matter, not X-Factors and sloppy Arcade hits, or pucks that magically stick to checked players.
To be honest, when I heard about the grudge match thing I was pumped just because by December you basically play the same 10 people because you find your spot in Rivals. Itll be nice to see how you have matched up and how it will impact the game, there is definitely a lot more to the system then the small blurb so I am pumped for you guys to see it.
Can we get box scores for all games played on any day during the season? Madden does it, MLB The Show does it (for AAA and AA as well), it can't be difficult to do it in NHL. Also, can we get stats that accurately reflect what's going on in a season, such as a team's ACTUAL winning or losing streak, a player's individual stats vs any given team during that season and/or for their career, etc.? Again, it's not difficult and would add to a player's lore against certain teams (rivals?) and would deepen the immersion of franchise and BAP modes. Also, can the game keep track of players who injure other players and maybe have a blurb about said injury in the teams' next matchup? I.e., "Marchand injured (whomever) last time these two teams played..." or "Byram was injured by (whomever) in their last matchup, but he's back now and looking for revenge..." I suppose it doesn't need to be that detailed, but it's still something that could be included in pre-game notes or something.
It would genuinely take around an hour to code a massive crowd improvement. If you are getting cooked your crowd should slowly dissipate and be damn near nonexistent at the end of a blowout loss. I cant stand playing a chel club match and seeing the home crowd all cheer like they tied the cup final when the score improves from 0-6 to 1-6 with 1:47 left in the third. If you lose 7-8+ games in a row your max crowd should decrease and fan engagement should be shit.
In NHL game with a realistic presentation would actually be unbelievable. Imagine if when you scored in overtime, the AI dog piled you instead of just skating away lol
Im 100% with you on this, I would love more realism in that aspect. Im a big proponent on the tradition NBC type broadcast but that might just be because I am old.
so many problems would have been solved if they only made 1 last game and made updates to it instead, they would have more time to make more changes and players wouldnt be mad because they have to pay this crazy amount of money every f*ing year.
They literally changed nothing and this is an update not a new game definitely not buying this crap and how good will it all work out on high ping games?
I play NHL on a PS4 and don't take it too seriously but still would like to play ultimate team with updated players, but I'm not getting a PS5 so now I can't
Improved ai would be enough for me, constantly having to dodge pylon teamates or having a 2 on 1 and my teamate just stops skating or veers off into the boards for no reason. Dumping old gen looks like better graphics i noticed that before i knew old gen was dumped. I hope wildcard isnt just changing modes like last year. Universal progression is good so long as the rewards arent dogshit. I hope its good but man its hard to be optimistic with EA.
I know this is pretty useless but they should update the customization and equipment options and make some like different tape jobs and customizable stick colours because all NHL players now use custom colors. I just don’t get why they don’t do that.
Exactly! I feel like customization of your chel / be a pro player is completely trash. I wish I could change my skate and stick colours to different colourways, and we desperately need new faces, hair and facial hair options like nba 2k and mlb
Don't let EA Sports Vancouver or the content creators fool you into thinking massive changes are coming in NHL 25. If you see "#EAPartner" in the description they were paid by EA to read a script of lies. Happens every year, yet people continue to buy the game and complain.
Not exactly, by law you have to say if you’re paid or not. It’s literally a law. sometimes it just means that they were given early access or information that other people don’t get. But I understand the frustration with people liking a game that you don’t like because people can’t have their own opinion.
I used to work at the food bank and used to pick up the donations from EA Vancouver Nothing was ever happening. Quietest building ever. Office buildings were louder. You’d think it’d be the opposite. They had basketball, soccer, tennis etc. courts that were always empty. I wonder why that was the case..
@@GOCAPSDMVHe was most likely paid by ea to put this video out. Nothing wrong with that but don’t be so naive. You think he’d get on here and trash it? He’d lose his access.
@@scottconrad4719 buddy look at what ea themselves say on thier page about the creator program, also. By law, you would have to see if you were paid or not. Who is the naïve one now?
I would have loved to have gotten paid for this video, however unfortunately this video was entirely done by me and my own opinions on it. I think people like yourself get upset if a creator makes a video covering the new game and doesnt just trash it from start to finish. Thats just a silly way to go about it, of course I am excited about the new game we are all addicted to hockey and this (sometimes unfortunately) is our only video game outlet for it. I will always give my real opinion on the game, and unless a piece of content is legit posted on the EA NHL account no one is paid. The "EA Partner" tag is meant to be an explainer to how we received an early look to make the content. Year over year, I am not sure how much can actually change in a yearly sport game. Its the most broken and archaic model in the gaming industry because it was started in the 90s and that was far before the majority of the player base switched to playing online. I think NHL 25 will have some nice quality of life stuff but the gameplay changes we have no idea until the player base gets a hand on them.
I wish they would do 2-year release windows. If you want to take a real leap EA bring it to VR. Give us actual vision control. Give us ChatGPT powered ai that actually talk and respond to their environment/conversation. I'd gladly wait another 3 or 4 years for a new NHL release.
You have to distinguish between one timers from the dots and backdoor tap ins. You're definitely referring to the latter, as I scored a lot of those too. But true, traditional one timers from distance haven't gone in in years.
I would guess that you are referring to back door tap ins, I dont classify that as one timers. Im talking about point shots or even a guy in the face off dot. The change to human goalie animations in 23 made the one timer almost none existent in 1v1 because they get this huge slide animations.
Can we mod the controlls? I absolutely hated the changes to ‘24 with the quick dekes and hitting etc. If I can hold x to protect the puck again I will consider purchase… if not… guess I’m playing’23 for another season
First: It's not the first time. The Nordic release of NHL11 had the Sedin twins on the cover. Second: I'm finally forced to buy a next gen console.. should I get Xbox or PS?
Do you have anything else to say about the presentation, namely the pre game intros so that you can see the goalie introduction in the offline mdoes etc.
Better have put more NHL faces in the game if they used some new fancy tech to make their animations better Literally the starting goalie for the Canucks doesn’t have his face in the game and he’s bin in the NHL for over half a decade
I agree, I know its super difficult to get the updated face scans because I think they have to basically bring that camera setup to every training camp but I agree they need everyone!
@@SleevelessGaming they don’t even need to have great face scan just make a face look half realistic for the lower level players. Even just matching the right hair color.
Im afraid that the use of the sapien tech is going to make the amount of player faces even worse because it's supposed to be a full body camera setup so they almost certainly discontinued the old way of scanning players and now the only guarantees for new scans this year will be the hughes brothers and a handful of Canucks + the most prominent rookies , from all the sports games NHL series is the worst at getting this right and I wish the players union would do something about it
I am 55, have been playing NHL from EA every year since NHL Hockey back in 1991 on my Sega Genesis. Now it's like I have been playing the same game for years, I am not impressed by the development team making us pay big bucks each year for little upgrades and average graphics. Once again, I won't buy until black Friday since that game never lifts up and gets cheaper all the time by end of november!
This use to be my favorite game. They do stuff that should have been done 5 years ago and expect people to get hype about it. Sad part is there is people who still get excited for this copy and paste game
Looks good, but hopefully they keep the controls for the controller as are now in nhl24 and not have the community complaining and wanting certain controls for their controller back into the game.
All I need from Franchise mode is the ability to see your line fits and stuff in the offseason so you arent blindsided by what your real team looks like when the calendar rolls over..
I think you misunderstood the grudge match system, it’s about teams. For example, there would be specific stuff for a matchup between the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks
From my understanding it is in offline and online modes. For example in HUT if you match with someone you ahve played regularly you will get a recent games performance breakdown in games between you and that player.
@@SleevelessGaming I guess that makes sense, but I’m assuming it will work differently offline and online since it has some feature where players get special X-Factors from previous matchups against that team. If you haven’t seen that, it’s from the press release for the game
All this is all fine but question did the fix the chel bugs, menu bugs, lobby bugs, ingame bugs in defence lack of defensive tools to intercept passes, stick luft and bump. And goalie beeing handikappad from pass glitch goals and game tilt. You can play outstanding for 59:45 seconds to letting in a flipper shot every second game. Goslies are players to
The franchise streamlined will be great last year in franchise mode and past years they only allowed you to control one team and provide maintenance to one team thanks to you guys we kno there is a streamlined option in franchise now which prolly means control ALL 33 TEAMS in in the mode and no more players being moved without your permission during the season that's what was needed I think NHL 25 will bring hockey back to how it was in the 90's

I like the screen of US Gamer saying the new skating is unreal. A bit wondering how the change to vision control isn't a reversion to 2 years ago when they say you can now face the net....isn't that what it was and how it was spammed to make people skate so unrealistically?
Great breakdown Sleeves! I immediately pre-ordered the deluxe edition and got the 99 Jack Hughes 😜! I am old and this is literally the only video game I play and EA is so lucky that they are the only game in town! Hahaha
Sleeveless I got to know! I am so hyped more than ever for this game since it is only next gen finally!! But I got to know is full presentation back because that would the cherry on top and I was hearing multiple voices in the trailer! Does that mean multiple broadcasters?
wildcard seems to be what they are doing now with the X Factor Comp. It will be rules of who or what you can use to participate (this will make the card market change and flip weekly). Good way to have those no money spent players have a different outlet to earn XP
I have a question. The last couple years it had been called the x factor edition and in the trailer they didn’t show the players with x factors. They would also give a x factor choice pack with your preorder. I could be wrong but i would think quin and jack would have them after the years they just had. I was wondering if you think they took x factors out of the game or that they just weren’t showcased in the trailer.
We will see one thing about EA is all they do bring stuff that was already in the game to the forefront to consumers , rename it aka dust it off and boom here are the new features. Please fix the AI this year and fix the goal tending. Would be great to play a close game in NHL title from EA for once instead of the offensive shootouts the game typically plays like.
Looks alright and worth it only if works as it should be and game play with goalies are decent . Hope that menu and pack sets etc . get overhaul and revamp (silky smooth) 😂
The two things for me moving on from old gen I’m a little bit on the fence about that if it does what you say doesn’t hold back the game anymore than that a plus if they make the right changes to franchise mode, I will look forward to that
old gen held the game back. Having to work on 2 versions of the game makes the product suffer. The PS4 is 11 years old, it's time to move on. People have had 4 years to get P5 or Xbox X|S.
@Kowabunnga boohoo. No they didn't. Remember when the ps5 was backorder and held by scalpers? I've never seen a console being over 600$ 4 years after launch.

Did they change anything on defense at all? Need stick lifting to not be an instant penalty.
Try holding stick lift and cancelling with LB - seems to help me fight for the puck better sometimes
@@aweffs lmao how am i today years old and im finding out that you can hold stick lift to get the puck😂
@@thePastafarian88 yeah it will tie them up and I tap to regain control - I use Lb to cancel the deke if using total controls
Its far to early to tell, but I get the sense that the game will be much more east and west. Making you get creative to get time and space, meaning defense should be easier. I pray we can actually stick lift again lol
Im gonna need to see 100 gameplay videos before purchasing just to see if these changes actually improve anything
NHL 15 finally got a graphic update nice
Franchise Mode and Be a Pro needs a major facelift, way too many improvements to mention but I won’t hold my breath
I hope they reduce the amount of spotlight goal celebrations, in OT winners sure, shootout wins yes but definitely not after every goal
I think they should just remove them completely

WAIT SO I GOT HYPED FOR A GAME THAT WONT EVEN BE ON MY CONSOLE?!?!??
I’m hoping be a pro gets some love this game

@@ACW721U have had 4 years to save up for it. Stop complaining💀

Keep playing 24 with the rest of the people in the same boat as you.
Was not planning on buying this game on release date. No old gen is definitely sparking my interest if there’s connected gm I will 100% pre order.
I used to work at the food bank and used to pick up the donations from EA Vancouver
Nothing was ever happening. Quietest building ever. Office buildings were louder.

"opens up a ton more offensive abilities'...cause thats what the game needed....
Great breakdown. Thank you for putting this together!
Says since 22 one-timers have been all since removed from offensive play... meanwhile you have me scoring practically with last second one timers
@@ghost_615 I am actually talking about both... I do get the backdoor tap ins, but I do get some nice blue line one timers pretty often actually.

Im a bad Sharks fan for not realizing that. I will bring this up!
Do you have anything else to say about the presentation, namely the pre game intros so that you can see the goalie introduction in the offline mdoes etc.
It’s on the official website but what he said is it
Better have put more NHL faces in the game if they used some new fancy tech to make their animations better
Literally the starting goalie for the Canucks doesn’t have his face in the game and he’s bin in the NHL for over half a decade
They need to use college football system they literally have all players faces with ai
I agree, I know its super difficult to get the updated face scans because I think they have to basically bring that camera setup to every training camp but I agree they need everyone!
@@SleevelessGaming they don’t even need to have great face scan just make a face look half realistic for the lower level players. Even just matching the right hair color.
You know they didn’t lmao this ain’t 2k(even though they are also just as bad) 😂
I think you misunderstood the grudge match system, it’s about teams. For example, there would be specific stuff for a matchup between the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks
It says in all major online and offline modes. I assume online means HUT online games.

Disclaimer : Yes, it is only an update to 24 that we pay for, I agree with the general complaints, Im sorely talking gameplay wise
What people fail to acknowledge is that one of the main isssues of this game is its community, 90% of the players still play pre NHL23 hitting fest braindead northsouth crosscrease forcing OR they do the same 2-3 cheesy plays every game, refusing to learn buttons let alone new mechanics like holding R1 or RB for a few secs then R stick up for a huge dump or understanding that on D you can crosscheck anybody that posts up in the slot every 2sec as long as you dont move your left stick there is no risk of penalty untill the opponent stops posting up.
I like the screen of US Gamer saying the new skating is unreal. A bit wondering how the change to vision control isn't a reversion to 2 years ago when they say you can now face the net....isn't that what it was and how it was spammed to make people skate so unrealistically?
