I like that they included the types of contracts but the fact that the NHL team only gets a few months every 3 or 4 years to improve franchise mode means that there are going to be things left out.
I was hoping for a revamped scouting system, more complex trades ( think the three team salary dump or conditional picks), coaches adapting to teams as they stay longer with the same team. It would also be cool to have an All star game, one winter classic game, Olympics ( i know they can't call it that but an international turny) , suspensions and so on.
They basically did nothing. Box scores and a dating app style "conversation" system. Ugh.

Not going to lie the scouting system you’re talking about sounds horrible. I’d much rather just send a scout to an area and call it good. I turn fog of war off every time I run franchise. Couldn’t imagine them doing more and it being better.
3 team trades and conditional picks would’ve been great, that’s probably my only complaint.
A way to develop the prospects would be huge but they seem to have added something that might perform similarly with the player conversations. We’ll see.
Yo. That contract stuff is great. I haven’t played since 23, but the little nitty gritty stuff is great. MLB the show has an extensive contract and off season contract stuff that made it fun

@@Borodin410 What are you talking about?!? NMC and NTCs are HUGE! Contract negotiations are ACTUAL NEGOTIATIONS, goals and stuff let you develop players how you want, this is awesome!

Took the words out of my mouth it’s looking more like madden. We need force win players in the right jerseys when you trade them and not the default face being able to customize attributes in franchise mode and edit potential. We need a new potential system it’s so broken we need superstar X factor superstar star and Normal development like madden not the system it is now.

I hope custom franchise conference and division realignments is set to the real life conferences and divisions. its annoying having to rename all the divisions and conferences to match real life and manually moving every single nhl and ahl team to the proper divisions.

@@RUSH240 It can be the biggest update in years and still be a nothing burger. They haven't touched Franchise in years, so adding a few simply mods has you all glazing EA. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying it's nothing to write home about.

While these changes look good, it still is a wonder that they haven’t done a July 1st mini game like they’ve done with the trade deadline
Imo, that change to make the deadline more immersive and fast paced was excellent… You should be able to easily look at scouted players ahead of time (say from the post draft up until July 1st you have access to a screen with all UFAs and the work your scouts have done on them) and only July 1st you’re scrambling to get your top guys…
The offseason in NHL is just so dull and the free agency screen is abysmal so I think they should’ve focused at least a bit on that… Also, they need to lessen the impact coaches have on a team… line chemistry and player overalls don’t even matter since a team with a B head coach will always be bad and a team with an A+ head coach will always be great (Brings weird instances where a team will be awful but turn great the next year solely due to coach improvement)… Also line chemistry should improve year to year (If I’m playing as the Leafs and I have Marner and Matthews playing together for 3 years, there’s no reason for their chemistry to stay the same)
they need to add players that were drafted from college teams
@@Tj-du4mj They can’t until they play an NHL game, they don’t have the license for college athletes and they certainly aren’t going to try to get them

It is actually some decent shit. Clauses are a huge part of contracts, as is working with players to change their positions and also pushing them towards certain stat boosts.
Obviously with not that much time between games it wasn't gonna be a complete revamp, but they're treading in the right direction.
Not enough to make me buy a PS5 yet, but if it keeps improving as such I may consider in the future XD
The conversations were so terrible in past few games, looks exactly the same

It looks really cool, but reminds me of the mood system and Owner Mode. Feels like it'll be awesome for the first couple playthroughs then it will be annoying.
You can definitely turn a lot of it off like all the other features in gm mode

Can someone explain why nhl doesn’t come out until October now? Before covid it used to come out early September. Madden still comes out a month before the season starts mlb the show comes out a couple weeks before the season and 2k comes out a month and a half so why is nhl the only outlier and comes out so late? It’s stupid they didn’t used to.
We’re not worth it, the overall community doesn’t produce enough revenue for them to care about our game like fifa or madden
@@CrazyeX_ but it used to be September. Why did they change it after Covid? The other sports games didn’t.
If I had to guess, I’d say because NHL has much smaller dev team than Madden or FIFA. So I’d say that’s the main reason and I guess they have just never went back. It is nice to have the game come out on the 27th, if you preorder the deluxe. So it’s kind of like back in the day. I definitely miss the September release date too, it was great because you got it a couple weeks before preseason started up, it always got me ready for that.
Menus still look a little slow/laggy

A youtber named Ry pointed out that during the presentation they were doing a ton of cuts so the menu is probably lagging. But maybe they'll address that later. The changes are worth the lag TBH
