I first heard about this is school in 2003 but there was no app and it was more rare. I'm glad to see it's still going. I've never done it before but I think I'm going to start now! If they'd had the app before maybe I could have started a long time ago. 😞 also this is a cute video! You and your daughter and the music, just so dang adorable.
I heard about it around the same time and never done it but was hiking on a game trail behind my house yesterday and there was a tube on a tree and thats all it took for me to be interested last written log was 2017.
This is a very well done video to introduce people, especially families to geocaching. Thank you for taking the time to make it and go into the details of getting started.
This is a really great video! Packed with useful, helpful info--everything you need to get started. It was well filmed and cute and entertaining. Thank you!
Great video, it was fun to watch you two searching. My husband and I are retired and planning to start geocaching together so your comments are very helpful. We're thinking our 8yo grandson might enjoy this hobby too! Thanks for sharing.
The first time I ever came across a "geocache" im assuming anyway, was with my friend in 2005 when we were 8 riding our bicycles through town. We didn't know what we found, but thought to open it. We found $50 inside and some jewlery with a note saying "from Boone" We took it to the nearest jewelers to pawn it off. Got an additional 40 dollars for it! To us we thought we hit the jackpot and were being stalked by bad guys.
I cannot believe I never knew about this fun hobby as I'm already an avid hiker! Great video and what a fun activity for all wannabe treasure hunters..
I am happy to find this video that explains geocaching so well. I am getting back into and now can share this with local friends I want to build a group.
Thanks for the video - lots of good information - looks like fun! I'm going to start doing this with my granddaughters! So much better for kids to be outside doing stuff like this than sitting in front of a TV all day!
I really like the part at the end on how to use the Search map and create lists that sync with your smartphone. I hadn't thought about doing it that way but it's a great idea!
Video is great, just watched it after we tried geocaching. We didn’t know what we were doing. Glad this video showed me that it’s not worth doing. We thought there would be little prizes 😂
Hi there! I'm pretty much impressed by the prince's interest in finding the catch, and now I've planned to take my 2 prince's out on the same mission. I thank you both, and send you lovely greetings from Germany 🇩🇪.
Most people carry “TOTTS” which are tool of the trades. Things like flashlight, magnets, tweezers, pen, little toys/prizes you can leave behind. You can go on the website and they give you an idea of what to include in your own little kid
I’ve always wanted to do this for real. I found 2 or 3 but when you’re doing it by yourself it’s sort of you know not as fun as it could be. Wish I had people in the LA Orange County area to do this with…
I am starting this with my 3 yr old. I notice the app compass takes me within 20 ft of location. Do you have a video or instructions how to use external compass for coordinates?
Very cool, you will enjoy it. The app gets you to the vicinity of the cache....for us the fun is trying to find it once we are in the basic area of it.
I seen a TH-cam short I’ve heard of this but my son is five and is big on metal detecting with me and hunting for things I think I’ll get into this with him seems very fun
You must be using the upgraded version, as it is nothing like the free version. There's no navigation, no hints and very little anything else, just two dots.
You can take something if you leave something. Normally I carry a little bag that has pins/stickers/foreign coins. There’s trackbales/bugswhich “travel” from cache to cache too
You cannot do most of the things you showed (in profile, etc), without the membership. Aka. Paying. Also, first geocaching yesterday in Dade City, FL with hubby, 35 year old so and 7 year old grandson. They showed us how to set up the app and start finding!
I see when u press "navigate" your map can spin around depending how u walk ? I installed the free app on an android 7 and android 10 phone and the map does never rotate. I have to use my fingers to spin it around ... Any idea how to solve this?
Nice try, but geocaching has been my thing for ages. Here's a tip for newbies: always bring a trusty GPS and some good ol' detective skills. Happy hunting!
It's true that some people would be tempted to take everything but it's an honor system and generally people who take the time to look for geocaches, follow the 'rules'. The challenge is finding the cache and the reward is really sharing something for someone else to enjoy...our kids love doing it :)

Also ive had a new log added for me as well. A great community

Well done. Informative. Thanks for the video!
Great video. Would be nice if you can do a video on how to create a geocache
Fun video! My daughter is 24 but I'm about to go drag her out and start geocaching! lol
Awesome, do it! It's a great hobby to do out of the house and in new areas and with a tech element via apps, younger kids can get into it. :)
Nice job showing what this awesome hobby is all about
Me and one of my best friends just got done doing it! :D
Great video! Thanks for sharing this! I'm hoping to get my son involved in this soon.
Thank you! You should, it's a great hobby...especially to do with kids. :)

Did you pay for the app upgrade? Is it worth it?
I started this 15 years ago on an old garmin etrex legend , what a pain it was. Devices are so much better now
Welcome to the club. Have fun and hope to see more from you!
A great way to meet friends.

Geocaching is the BEST hobby
Quick question, what’s in the geocaching kit?
Most people carry “TOTTS” which are tool of the trades. Things like flashlight, magnets, tweezers, pen, little toys/prizes you can leave behind. You can go on the website and they give you an idea of what to include in your own little kid
Do the micros not have stuff in them other than the log?
What do you find inside the boxes
looks like fun!!
It is!
What is all in your geocaching kit?
oh man you live in Miami!!! I hope I can go geocaching with you someday 🥹
I’ve always wanted to do this for real. I found 2 or 3 but when you’re doing it by yourself it’s sort of you know not as fun as it could be. Wish I had people in the LA Orange County area to do this with…

Very cool, you will enjoy it. The app gets you to the vicinity of the cache....for us the fun is trying to find it once we are in the basic area of it.
Is it like random people hiding stuff in bushes/boxes etc.? I wonder how long would it take to find a pipe bomb
FEDPOST FEDPOST FEDPOST
I seen a TH-cam short I’ve heard of this but my son is five and is big on metal detecting with me and hunting for things I think I’ll get into this with him seems very fun
You must be using the upgraded version, as it is nothing like the free version. There's no navigation, no hints and very little anything else, just two dots.
I have a question. Should people ever take the valuables inside the caches, or rehide them?
You can take something if you leave something. Normally I carry a little bag that has pins/stickers/foreign coins. There’s trackbales/bugswhich “travel” from cache to cache too
Scared of frogs! 😂🤣😂
That's a first.
Does it matter which app of it you get?
You cannot do most of the things you showed (in profile, etc), without the membership. Aka. Paying.
Also, first geocaching yesterday in Dade City, FL with hubby, 35 year old so and 7 year old grandson. They showed us how to set up the app and start finding!
Luv the kit. Do you sell the container?
Would like to try this with my similar aged girls. Are there any safety concerns?
what app is this?
App Store geocaching
So it's just a piece of paper you find, sign and rehide?
It's like a log book of who found it.
IS THIS LIKE ROUNDONAUTICA FOR HIKERS?
I guess they do share similarities
im here cause i have to plan a campout on geocaching. Hopefully it goes well
I got up this morning at 8 and went to my local lake and I was geocaching till 4pm I found 32 in total
I went geo caching yesterday with my cousins
I thought you get stuff like in it not just write a log
Sometimes you can find cool things and other times it's just a journal. Thanks for watching :)
Downloaded da app like 2 months ago and wanted to see wassup now and it seems dope
I saw a true treasure right away.
one of the prizes i got from geocaching was a big bag filled with dog shit. I dont use Geocaching anymore
Finally easy money
I am so confused someone pass help. I found a cache and there was a hockey card in it but I didn’t take it. Was I supposed to take the prize?
If you want, you’re supposed to leave something though
@@jacobthemaster66 what happens if I dont
@@unkown215 nothin, but everyone will hate you for it

There’s 2 where I live and one you have to pay for the premium to find
What is geocaching

thank you it was very helpfoll
You're welcome :)
Nice caching kit.
Amazing eyes!
Wow my home town Ashland Ohio
This was called "Dead Drops" during the Cold War. CIA and KGB perfected this, minus cellphones.
Do I have to upgrade to premium to do this successfully? Can I find enough with a basic account to try it out?
You can upgrade to premium membership to find some really cool caches.
I put 20 dollar bills in all the ones i find.
Ima wait to the gas prices go down to get started on this lol
Lol
I love geocaching, I do with my Dad. You find one and sign your name, if you want to take something you have to leave something.
Nice try, but geocaching has been my thing for ages. Here's a tip for newbies: always bring a trusty GPS and some good ol' detective skills. Happy hunting!
i dont get this game wouldnt people just steal every toy and stuff in the cache i need explaining
It's true that some people would be tempted to take everything but it's an honor system and generally people who take the time to look for geocaches, follow the 'rules'. The challenge is finding the cache and the reward is really sharing something for someone else to enjoy...our kids love doing it :)
@@drawersystems i went geocaching and a security came and said that people hide drugs in them so i never went again
Wow, I can see how that could happen. We are very specific with the areas that we geocache to make sure it's safe and ok for the kids.
the first year of literary garden, every single Geo cache in my neighborhood there's about 200
