      same, i just bought the new Yoga 730 13" that came out last month with the 8th Gen Intel CPU for $750, exactly half as much as this one. Gotta say my new Yoga stacks up pretty nicely against "the best laptop"according to the Verge...Aside from value, i got the exact same I/O, fingerprint sensor, very good KB/mouse, an aluminum chassis and body with similar bezels, convertible form and touchscreen. Also prefer buying from Lenovo to Huawei... My only negatives would be the screen brightness and battery life which is like 8 hours, but at $750 its an amazing laptop.

    • @brianchen745
      @brianchen745 6 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      Ummmm the Yoga 730 definitely does not have similar bezels. These bezels are small all around. Also the fingerprint sensor is not built into power button which allows it to log you in immediately upon starting it. But the price difference is huge. You also probably got the i5 version with only 8gb of ram while this is the i7 with 16gb of ram. You don't even get a 512gb of storage. The Yoga also doesn't include a discrete graphics card

    This is a very impressive laptop and it offers great value. I am blown away by what Hauwei was able to pull off, especially given that they don’t have much history or experience in the PC/laptop space. They have really engineered the hang out of this thing. The fact that it runs Windows 10 Signature edition and the webcam is hidden in the keyboard (i.e. disabled), helps them overcome the privacy and security concerns that some paranoid countries have toward Huawei products.

    "It's actually better than Dell's comparable XPS13 or the Touchbar Macbook Pro"

    Typing this from a MBXP...easily one of the best laptops I've ever had. My only gripe is that it runs a bit on the hot side, but everything else is top notch. Performance, sound, and screen are second to none. And for the price, I got it on student discount from Microsoft when the laptop first came out...there was NO competition. It's 2019 and a 2018 laptop is still the laptop of the year, in my opinion!

    My TV has 98% screen to body ratio because it is so large with slim bezels. So having higher screen to body ratio than a smartphone isnt that hard and I feel like these channels try to come up with too many points in a video, too many points that isnt that thought out either.

    • @schroederluck7984
      @schroederluck7984 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      the point is that the screen is bigger than the 13"/15" spec would lead you to believe. The 13" model is more like a 14" laptop because the bezels are so narrow.

    • @sam_ram
      @sam_ram 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@schroederluck7984 the laptop sizes are measured by screen diagonals, not the actual size of the body. Therefore, it just has the same size screen in a smaller body, not a bigger screen in a normal sized body. Hopefully that made sense

    Some things to consider from an Amazon Reviewer after 1 week’s usage:
    Build Quality: After a few days of use, the laptop started to creak when I pick it up. I tried tightening the screws, but that didn't fix it. Very irritating. The USB C ports are also VERY tight. It feels like I'm going to break something when I remove the charging connector.
    Touchpad: It's a Precision touchpad, but it sure doesn't feel like it. It doesn't even compare to the Surface touchpads. Even the "click" is very cheap feeling. Not to mention, the touchpad rattles quite a bit. Not what I expected for a $1500 device.
    Coil Whine: Similar to the older Dell XPS 13, this unit has quite a bit of coil whine. It's amplified when plugged in. This is pretty unfortunate, but some people won't notice it.
    Fan Noise: It's pretty much always on. It's not obnoxious, but it's loud enough to hear it in a very quiet room. If the laptop isn't plugged in and is on power saver mode, the fans do quiet down. On (almost) every other laptop, the fan is actually connected to a metal heatsink. On this laptop, there's about 0.5cm of space between the fan and the heatsink. This is just bad design and incredibly inefficient.
    My own concern: What kind of tech support can you expect from Huawei in the U.S.? Not good I imagine. With all of these issues this is far from the best laptop. Cool, light design with tiny bezels on a 3:2 screen, I love that part, but coil whine, fan noise, bad trackpad, creaky body, etc. PLUS likely lousy support? No thanks.

    • @terrytigner9600
      @terrytigner9600 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Robert Ratskywatsky Yes. All these negative traits are significant, and the coil whine is a huge problem! You have to listen to these reviewers and realize they are not necessarily experts, and are under pressure to to create videos and have something to say that will get clicks.

      my friend bought a Benz CLA 2017, the car completely stopped during driving multiple times. Benz cant locate the issues, and they will only promise fixing it, but the problem kept coming back, she decided to return the lease(this is scary if it happens during driving). I would say this is way more significant than the 'your significant traits'. Benz is prestigious brand, but it still produces lemon car. my point is you have to determine this is a general problem or specific issue with one laptop. can do you do more research than just one review to be accurate?

      Griffin Dobbins what buid quality, lg gram withstands drop like nobody and that alone deserves its crown. Have you seen any laptop super thin and light yet military grade certified? Thats the most important feature to laptop. Screen may not be as high res but very good quality and allow 10 hour battery. Lg gram picks the right choice of specs. While I believe there are many laptops like Matebook so it doesn't stand out.

    • @StevenZephyc
      @StevenZephyc 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Patrik Kron lenovo thinkpad p51comes closest in my mind.
      The best display you can get on a laptop both resolution and gamut wise.
      Dedicated workstation graphic card
      Built in screen calibraton
      Ports for every occasions, thunderbolt, Ethernet, HDMI AND Dp, card reader, hell even a express card slot as well as a smart card reader.
      Expandable storage and ram, actual mechanical hard drive slot instead of m2 or soldered on storage.
      Easy to maintain and repair
      (Relative)compact size
      And finally, a case that can actually take a beating instead of only existing on Starbuck coffee table.
      This is a computer that can get the work done, and not a glorified iPad or a Xbox on steroids.

      @aaronnn3870 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yet it's thick and ugly as hell

    • @PatrikKron
      @PatrikKron 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I can not agree with that. It's a 15,6" laptop and weights 2,5 kilos.
      (Although it might be the best one for you)
      Whilst almost everything you write is great, the portability suffers from the computer being so large and heavy.
      For me I want a laptop that's as small as possible, without compromising keyboard, trackpad and a high-resolution screen. For me it should be in the 12-13" range, have a great battery, and not feel slow for everyday use (no dedicated graphics required).

      +Satwik Singh.....even if we assume you're right, who uses internal laptop speakers? when I'm out and about I use headphones, when I'm at home I plug into actual speakers, and why not have something like a ue boom 2 with you if sound quality is a huge deal. if you just want to show a freind a youtube video when you're out than the added volume from the alienware is surely a benefit

    I have the LG Gram 13" 2018 and that is undoubtedly the best laptop. Magnesium alloy design, which makes it one of the lightest laptops in the world, a feature that has grown on me a lot. The keyboard and trackpad are amazing, as is the screen with it's tiny bezels (though it's only 1080p, but still good enough for me). Fingerprintscanner in the power button, latest gen internals, all the ports one can imagine (HDMI, USB-A, USB-C (thunderbolt on 15"), ...). The only downside is that is doesn't have dedicated graphics, but that's not really a problem for me. And last but not least, it's proven to have one of the - if not the - best battery life of all laptops: I can easily reach 13h of medium to heavy use and sometimes 17h-18h with web browsing, I never need to take my charger with me when I go home for the weekend. The base model costs around $1,100, but it's totally worth it!
