I did high school algebra 50 years ago and now have decided to get my accounting degree. Algebra has changed a lot since then..Thank you for your help. I'm so glad I found you guys. I already passed fundamental math with your help and I'm half way through Algebra..My head spins but the way you teach is really, really helpful. Thank you Mr Witt!!!
I'm very proud of you Donna! I truly value the effort you're putting into completing your degree! Good luck 2 you and keep excelling in your endeavors!
I like the way he said, "Remember, this is just numbers. They can hurt nobody." Thanks Mr. Witt. I somehow like math because you made me understand every single shit. I'm happy to say that I'm already not spending any tears just to understand and process what my math teacher's saying every time we're having a class. Thanks a lot.
OH MY GOODNESS! THESE VIDEOS REGARDING RATIONAL EXPRESSIONS HELPED ME SOOO MUCH! Thank you Mr. Whitt!! My teacher can't teach very well and I finally understood it! It's my exams tomorrow so I'm currently cramming. Thank you for these videos! 😭
You cover so much in so little time, and yet, you make everything so clear, easy to grasp, and easy to retain. From the comments I read, it seems that this is not happening in our schools, and I wonder why. Maybe some math teachers need to watch your videos. They could make a math pedagogy course for teachers from your vids and put it into their state certification requirements for math teachers. Just a thought.
Wow! Huge compliment! Thanks 4 your thoughts and kind words CarnivalWrestler! Obviously there’s God-given talent, expertise and experience involved in creating each video (not trying to come off as bragging, but blessed), but I create each video as how I would want to be taught. Coming from that angle it really simplifies the process. 👨🏾🏫😁
Keep up the amazing work Mr.Whitt. Ive been a follower of your videos since i was a freshman in high school an I'm about to graduate as a senior. You've really helped me out a lot over the years and i am very grateful for everything you have done. Thank you Mr.Whitt.
+Adam Wheeler You're very welcome Adam! I'm happy 2 hear that you brought me along on your academic journey! Congratulations 2 you on your upcoming graduation. I'm very proud of you!
thank you sooooo much! it really helped~ you're a life saver! i'm an architecture student and i'm having a hard time understanding math, please keep uploading videos. you're helping alot of people especially students! thank you so much!
I appreciate your videos a lot.I'm currently studying in advance as a preparation for grade 8. Everyday, I watch your videos and I'm so lucky I've found the right teacher :D Thank you so much :D Looking forward for more videos :)
I'm so glad I found your videos! Best on utube by far, and I've tried many. Khan Academy ain't got nothing on you! : ) Thanks for helping me pass math this semester! I couldn't have done it without you
Thank you for these videos!! It helped me so much in my math class... I got high grades on it!! :) And now our periodical exams are coming, so I watch almost of your video about Rational Expressions for reviewing.. And I thank you so much for it!!
I really love this. I always watch your video everytime I have a difficult understanding in RAE. Honestly when my teacher discussed about this I really got a tough time. It sucks. I mean to be honest I like math, love to be exact but not in all times math is easy. It gets harder and harder when we get older. But RAE maybe the hardest topic I've ever encountered in life. Like really. But so I realized its not. It takes time to realize that math is easy if you do put a effort to study. So thank u very much for this.. I really appreciate. I really do.
Mr Whit is there a way quick way (or test) to find out if a certain equation cannot be factored? Thanks sooo much for your lessons. They are a Godsend!
You can use the "general strategy" for factoring which just analyzing the equation/expression to see if can be factored using any method. th-cam.com/video/WQ2uqsmapLw/w-d-xo.html
Mr. Whitt, in the 3rd or 4th problem i think (i forgot) we can still factor -3x^2+3x+2, the factored answer is (3x+2)(x+1) and we can cancel out the (x+1) in the denominator: (x+2)(x+1)(x-1), why didn''t you?
ey fort bend tutoring could you help me in my problem...I wanna solve m squared over m + n plus 2mn + n squared over m + n.... what should I do with the first numerator which is raised by squared tnx
Just add the numerators and list the terms in descending order of m so that the numerator is m² + 2mn + n² over m + n. Then, factor the numerator and simplify.
You can only cancel when everything is being multiplied or divided (multiple factors divided by multiple factors). Since we had multiple terms in the numerator, you want to distribute to combine like terms before simplifying.
I got my ARROWS POPPIN' Builderboy! You can check out the process in these two videos: th-cam.com/video/Izf_mGQkEns/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/XvK210XE0-w/w-d-xo.html
It’s because it has multiple terms, two in this case, and I’m ensuring the next step is setup correctly. (4-3x)(x+1) and 4 - 3x(x+1) are not the same while 2(x-1) and (2)(x-1) are the same value. So you can always put parentheses around both, but sometimes you don’t have to depending on the expression (for instance, when multiplying one term times two terms).
Depending on the step you're referring to, dividing out takes back to a previous step. The process is the same as adding fractions with numbers. You must first identify a common denominator and then create equivalent fractions using that common denominator. We distribute during the process to help us combine like terms when we add the numerators.
I'm really confused on the 2nd problem because you copied the denominator and also put it in the numerator and the cube was gone I wanna know why =D. Ty I always watch your videos when I have a problem
I multiplied the binomials in the numerator. Here’s a video 2 help with that process: Multiplying Binomials: The Distributive Property and FOIL Method [fbt] th-cam.com/video/hcYYmpUIjQQ/w-d-xo.html
I’m rewriting the first term as an equivalent fraction. Comparing the original factored denominator with the LCD I’m missing a (x - 1). Therefore, I multiply the numerator and denominator by (x - 1) in order to create an equivalent fraction which can combine with the second term.

Mr. Whitt, why did u add the minus to the 1st denominator? can't you do it to the second? please explain.. Thank you for helping.
It was to get common denominators. You could do it to the 2nd denominator instead of the 1st to work out the problem.
It's good! We understood the lesson, finally. Thanks a lot! 😘

can you not factor expressions which all the terms are positive?
+Lyka Abregana That expression is not factorable. Try multiplying your result.
+Lyka Abregana There are many expressions that have all positive terms that are factorable.
Mr Whitt your the best
+Game Mode JM Thanks 4 your support!
Big help ty😊
Happy 2 help JayV!
Mr. Whitt, why didn't you factor out the numerators of both terms first since they can be factored out by gcf?
+Lyka Abregana Our goal is to add the expressions, so focus on that task first. After finding the sum you can then attempt to simplify, if possible.
oh i get it now, thanks a lot! :)
great video!!!
THANK YOU
Thanks and you're welcome!
In problem number two, the "pq" equation, how did you "lose" the cubed exponents of the numerators in step two?
This should help: th-cam.com/video/U996P8JaRxI/w-d-xo.html
That was the video I watched and am asking about.
this helped me as always thank you 🙏

Mr Whitt, you’re good but dang, I have to eat, get some sleep and come back to this topic
Mr. Whitt, is there any techniques or methods you can show? But I Understand your tutorial :) I think my teacher Using differ. method O_o
This helped a lot thanks.
You're very welcome!
ey fort bend tutoring could you help me in my problem...I wanna solve m squared over m + n plus 2mn + n squared over m + n.... what should I do with the first numerator which is raised by squared tnx
Just add the numerators and list the terms in descending order of m so that the numerator is m² + 2mn + n² over m + n. Then, factor the numerator and simplify.
where did the -pq come from when you factored the numerator
The -pq is part of the factoring pattern for a sum of cubes. Check out our video "Factoring: Sum of Cubes". th-cam.com/video/U996P8JaRxI/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much!
You're welcome Lily!
Hi! in 13:43 can you factor the 2x^2+8x-6 by quadratics?
+Cara Delevingne Hi Cara! Other than factoring the GCF of 2, it's not factorable.
whoever that is talking at the start of the video have me laughing all the time kmsl

Thanks! Is that an ipad? How can you directly write with it with a pen?
Yes, it's an IPad. I'm using a JotPro from Adonit. It's a stylus, not a pen.
do you have worksheets?
We have released a few workbooks and notes for sale at Shop.TutorMeMath.net . Thanks 4 the inquiry!

Thank you very much :)
I don’t get how you factored the numerator considering that they are not the same variable. It went a little too fast for me.
Thank you SO much! But what if I had an expression like this:
325/x - 325/(x +15).
I don't understand how to do one like this! Can anyone help me out?
+Random Queen Setup a paid online tutorial at www.TutorMeMath.net.
I don't get it. :( the part when you distributed 2 to (x-1) in number 2. How did you get 2x-2+4x+4-3x^2-3x
+Stephanie Domingo I used the methods shown in this video: th-cam.com/video/hcYYmpUIjQQ/w-d-xo.html
Fort Bend Tutoring Thank Youu so muchh :))
Mr. Whitt, why did you distribute instead of canceling?
At 7:34
You can only cancel when everything is being multiplied or divided (multiple factors divided by multiple factors). Since we had multiple terms in the numerator, you want to distribute to combine like terms before simplifying.
how did you get the 2x-2+4x+4-3x^2-3x? thx if you respond 7:47
I got my ARROWS POPPIN' Builderboy! You can check out the process in these two videos: th-cam.com/video/Izf_mGQkEns/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/XvK210XE0-w/w-d-xo.html
Thank u so much!
You're welcome Nelson!
wow this video is supper you have to make the app of math
I agree! Thanks 4 the support Yunisha!
4-x is a subtraction where commutative property does no apply
That’s why we factor out a negative one.
Nice!
Mr. Whitt,why put ( ) a round 4-3x and not on the 2
It’s because it has multiple terms, two in this case, and I’m ensuring the next step is setup correctly. (4-3x)(x+1) and 4 - 3x(x+1) are not the same while 2(x-1) and (2)(x-1) are the same value.
So you can always put parentheses around both, but sometimes you don’t have to depending on the expression (for instance, when multiplying one term times two terms).
i got a quesrion what if the denominator are different expressions
ex. one denominator is a binomial and the other is trinomial
+Lex Arquillo Factor them first, then get s common denominator like the problems shown in this video.
OMG the intro 😂😂😂😂
How would you do if you have 3 terms?
Same process. Find the common denominator and make equivalent fractions. Then, combine the numerators and simplify.
why did you not divide out and why did you distribute.......... in question number 3
+Adam Angar I didn't copy the denominator. I factored the numerator. Check this video out for the process: th-cam.com/video/U996P8JaRxI/w-d-xo.html

What program do u use?
An older version of Penultimate by Evernote.
Fort Bend Tutoring Thank you for the very quick response. Adding and subtractions these expressions weren't as easy I thought. ur vids helped a lot :)
How did you get x-1?
on 11:27
I’m rewriting the first term as an equivalent fraction. Comparing the original factored denominator with the LCD I’m missing a (x - 1). Therefore, I multiply the numerator and denominator by (x - 1) in order to create an equivalent fraction which can combine with the second term.
What app is that?
