Local legend. THG helped get me through a rough time just with his multiple daily uploads and laid back, unpretentious presentation. And his outreach to Vegas fans has been kind of legendary. Mad respect for Shannon. Some of the best are with his wife. The cats are amazing, too.
He can be very funny too, in a dry way. Like a Canadian Bob Newhart in a sense.

Shannon is excellent at posting timely news videos. He comes across as exactly what he is, an everyman that sounds like he is chatting with his buddies. He always has an intelligent take on what is going on, even the times when I disagree with him.
He is refreshing compared to what tv sports channels have become. They have an endless supply of hosts (sorry, insiders) all getting their 15 seconds worth of time and far too many of them try to yell over the others like a middle child trying to get their parents attention.
This is why Shannon is my go to for daily hockey news.
One of the things that makes him so great is that he’s super honest and unbiased, purely looks at the situation critically. Plus he’s always on it when there’s fresh news, always one of the first uploaders.
No bait, no annoying intro and outros, he’s always straight to the point but also talks about random stuff for fun. I’m thankful for the content he’s putting up!

Shannon is the hardest working person in hockey. I never skip one of his videos and I love the depth and the level of research he does. Also, he doesn't bite on rumors and unconfirmed sources. None of his videos are clickbait.
THG puts in a lot of work and deserves the support.
He’s beyond local legend now. He’s surpassed the hosts of this show in relevance.
I’ve followed Shannon for about three years. The guy’s an absolute natural.

He's probably too busy making videos. He goes usually to handful of games. Season's tickets for Abbotsford would work because it's closer for him. His post game videos on his drive home with his wife is awesome however.

It's crazy that a random dude from Abby ended up being one of the most solid sources of hockey news and some of the most intelligent, well-thought out takes you can find, even among the so called experts.

Hi. Just to inform that THG has audience accross Europe. I am for example from Finland. Keep watching him every week.
I'm a Hurricanes fan in Raleigh, NC, but Shannon is the only hockey commentator that I listen too. His knowledge is far-reaching, but I most enjoy the hilarious things he says while keeping a completely straight face!

Shannon is great, I love his content, he’s so easy to listen to, some guys are practically yelling at the screen. When Shannon talks it’s like he’s hanging in your Rec room with you chatting hockey over a beer and nachos.

What I like best is that Shannon hasn't invalidated his voice with sponsors. He has a unique position in hockey of having his opinion untainted by politics(hockey) or media storylines. Respect to this amazing dude I've been watching for literal years!

They asked what his special sauce was, for me it's the fact you can tell her absolutely loves hockey. It's easy to listen to him as well since he's not yelling and being super animated like so many other TH-camrs.
No better way to do your chores than putting headphones on and listening to THG’s power rankings. Some youtubers have an obsession about maximum 10 minute videos but THG doesn’t look at those things and focuses on saying what he has to say no matter how long it takes.
THG'S one of my faves. The quality and quantity of his content is truly impressive.

Make no mistake; this fellow is a walking hockey encyclopedia. Great personality, highly variable video presentations, and very fair and balanced. I love hockey almost exclusively and Shannon is a breath of fresh air. He covers my mistress team - the LA Kings - and even makes summer enjoyable. 😃 (And unlike some of the "big guys," no titanic ego.)
Props to The Hockey Guy, remember his videos would only had couple hundred views back in the days!

THG is my go to guy when it comes to to hockey in general and NHL specially. No BS and down to earth previews and reviews of the games. Add his funny sense of humour and his wonderful wife.

Shannon is my number one source for hockey. You never get a feeling of elitism from him that you usually get from hockey players (especially the ones who sucked) or other Canadian fans, instead you get a feeling of love for hockey -- something to be shared across the world including places we think might not work.

Shannon's Facebook page brought me here. I've followed him for as long as I can remember - he is so knowledgeable and presents the information factually and in a simple, laidback manner. To be honest, I get most of my hockey news from him.
Shannon is the GOAT for hockey content. He is a walking encyclopedia and he can explain it like I'm 5. He's been my voice of reason for four years now with the Avs.
Don't always agree with Shannon, but it's definitely good to see him on.

Started watching THG a few years ago and haven't stopped since He's brilliant. He digs deep into the subject. Occasionally he can be pretty funny with some of the things he says and the facial expressions that go with that. (Check out the history of the WHA series or the jersey countdown) and you'll see what I mean. Well done Shannon keep it up. You are a rising star.
Here is what I like best about THG: at your convenience you sit down at your computer/pad and re-live all the games from that night/last night, with additional insight. Primo. Ichi Ban. The Best.

He has fans over here in the UK too....(me included) plus some of the jerseys he has have been sent to him from his viewers including non NHL jerseys including 3 of my Bracknell Bees jerseys from local team here in UK.
This is awesome. Love the synchronicity between the two channels here. The Hockey Guy does a great job in all of his breakdowns.
Shannon is the best. Definitely my favorite youtuber by far. I think I've watched pretty much every single video he's posted in the last four years or something. Some of them several times. Dude's just a honest to god good guy who knows a lot about a subject I care about, and talks about it in a very reasonable, unbiased (for the most part) manner. Don't trust him with your fantasy picks though, at least not if it goes against your gut feeling, because he'll tell you to pick up Viktor Arvidsson, and then Arvidsson will get 15 goals and 13 assists in 57 games and you're left wondering what just happened.
I love the simplicity of his setup, makes it feel like he is in the same room talking about hockey with you.

It’s partly his delivery, but in my opinion, it’s the amount of work he puts into it. Most do rumours, updates that’s are in the wider hockey world, but Shannon is unique in what he covers and the detail in it. Sometimes too obscure even for me but I love watching him
One word to describe Shannon's success: authenticity. He's just a real dude who knows his stuff. The media goes for click-bait and Shannon just spits the facts at you. No rumors or drama, just the real scoop. Any speculation he may offer is always backed up. Basically, he's what all media SHOULD be.

Shannon is special because he answers questions without the overt or covert "you idiot" vibe. He makes an effort to be honest and forthright about the strengths and weaknesses of all the teams and the players he talks about. And...he very clearly loves hockey. He does support many of the old hockey values, but never has made fun of me for being very attached to my ER roots and decrying the violence that is the only thing I don't like about hockey.
THG is a legend, watch regularly from New Zealand.

When you think about the video almanac he's curating, his dedication and persona, I don't think - if he ends up doing this till retirement - getting him some sort of recognition with the HOF would be out of the question.
Of course it's clear that that isn't a motivator for him, a love of the game is - which comes across fantastically on a daily basis.

Shannon is the absolute BEST at what he does on all of TH-cam...there are beginning to be quite a few channels like his,and there are a few that have been around longer,but not a single one that is as thorough,concise,yet entertaining and informative...I played the game for over 25 yrs (never made the bigs...lol) but I still learn things from THG...so thanks for having him on,thanks to Shannon for his channel....and GO Canucks GO !!!....and NO guys....NOT eveyrone can do what Shannon does!!

For me it was a no brainer THG (Shannon) cover all the teams, he is unbiased as much one can be as a hockey fan and I just like the work he does

I think the reason he is so popular is how genuine he is, he doesn’t try and put on any character for the internet and feels is your having a conversation with a buddy. And also one of the firsts💯

Watching THG videos is like reading back of a hockey card and having the hockey card speak back to you with concise opinions. These kind of videos are much better than reading through TSN online articles with news from "unknown source" and occasional spelling errors.
