Go inside the Kenworth SuperTruck 2

Taking center stage inside the Kenworth booth at this year's ACT Expo was one of the most unique trucks at the show, but there was more than meets the eye to the Kenworth SuperTruck 2. Its sleek shape that reduces air resistance to improve aerodynamics 48% over a typical Kenworth T680, only hinted at the technology within the powertrain within.
It features an MX-11 engine, modestly enhanced and integrated into a mild hybrid system operating at 48 volts. This system captures braking energy to charge batteries, which then power various vehicle components like cooling fans and electronic power steering. This setup ensures the truck meets the ultra-low NOx emissions standards set for 2027, highlighting its environmental prowess.
"When we say, 'mild hybrid,' it's not providing propulsion to the rear wheels, but it is supporting all the accessories," explained Nick Harker, assistant chief engineer, Kenworth. " For example, it powers the heat pump for the cab, which is really cool. It's very efficient and allows us to hotel overnight without running the engine at all. With a mild hybrid, you can get the benefits of efficiency boost, but you don't have the challenges with full battery electric."

Center driver position is stupid. How do pay a toll? How do you check in at a shipper or receiver? More trucks designed by people that have never driven a truck.

I actually like it their some things I think the the single seat cockpit is a good idea but they be issues I think they'll run into with that idea but we're talking about the future where cars and trucks will mostly drive themselves.

I don't like the center position, I like to stick my arm out the driver side window for easy backing, I see those cameras getting dirty and it being hard to back especially at night

Only way to bring new blood into the trucking industry is by 1 of 2 things...#1 raise the $$$ to a livable wage again 2# make trucks cool again 😎 as a kid watching those chrome monsters blowing the air horn at us kids pumping our dust up and down at them made me and others want to be a "trucker"

How TF are u supposed to do pre and post trips if you can't even see the tires ? And if u have a blow out, that's probably a 20 or 30k fender replacement or total
