You can drive the RS5 in snow, dirt, and every where around the year.
Try that in a rear wheel drive c63, and the Audi looks much better.
Calling it now out of the 3 this is one is going to be to most desirable 5-7 years down the line

M3 but only the V8 model and the M4 is not loved the way the M3 is.
The M3 has a cult following and the Audi RS5 V8 is starting to gain a following as well. There no where near as many RS5 V8 cars on the market as M3 V8 models.
Once people start to realize what they are and how the turbo model of cars have destroyed the fun then Audi V8 cars are going to be hard to find.
In my opinion, the RS5 is the best looking compared to M4 or C63 AMG
And has the coolest engine
The 6.2 v8 is cool but 8350rpm is a lot cooler
The thing I just love about the RS5 on a normal day at the lights and slamming your foot down when the roads are a bit wet the RS5 will just go with no drama where the m4 and c63 just won't be able to get there power down, for here in the UK where the weather is dog the S and RS models just can't be beat

Not even my S6 V10 was as rare as this ... People look at it like they cant believe their eyes theres a first gen RS5. It looks completely unknown to most people and they only get it when they see the badge.
Let me just review an old car and compare it against its newer rivals while completely ignoring the newer version... Did I mention I have no bias at all?

Pieter-Jan Van Aeken the 2017 version isn't really on the streets yet though so this one was all he had.
actually, the new rs5 has the same engine from a Porsche model, and it's twin turbo. I forgot which Porsche model, but this year they replaced the old out going engine

Maybe other cars are quicker, but i'd still love to own this one. This is such a sexy car. Great engine, great looks. It has character.
I'm a bmw guy, own a E60 M5 myself and even I would take the RS5 over the M4. You can pick up a 2013 for under 45k now.

Alex Gray Id honestly take the m4 even though the interior is worse. I own a tuned s5 too that wipes the floor with the rs5, though the rs5s brakes are way better. but being that I picked mine up for 46k used over 2 years ago it was cheaper by over 20k than the m4.

That V8 sound alone is enough for me to choose the RS5 over the M4. Ofcourse the M4 offers better performance but they're also so much more common. I see them everyday yet I can't remember the last time I saw a RS5. The uniqueness and that NA V8 to me is worth sacrificing for performance. Not to mention it's awesome styling.
Alex Gray My goal is to buy one right when I get out of school and have a job. By then they'll have depreciated even more but will still look and sound just as good. Audi only sent 1,500 models over to the States, meaning it's a pretty rare car around here. Plus I can always supercharge it down the road and have an absolute beast for a reasonable price.

Not the car, the model is outdated. That model of the rs5 is from like 2010. The same model in A5 and S5 are from 2008 i think which are the RS5's little brothers. So yea, the model is pretty old and therefor outdated when it comes to technology etc. They don't design a new car for every year.

Had the Audi rs5 no one really did not know what car it was unless you where an Audi fan. I loved it sounds amazing and holds its value.
Especially when you shift down. Cons insurance and is a gas guzzler. Other then that your fine.
If you're wondering, 7.9mpg in the city in dynamic mode. 12.5mpg in the city in auto. Also only about a 14 gallon tank. Still wouldn't get rid of it for an M4 or C63
I have to admit, the gas mileage is a Pain... and I never drive in "D". Always "S" in Dynamic or Individual. And always in manual mode. Life is too short. :)
M4 is a light weight sports car that is fun on the track but if you are driving it on the road the whole year the fun will wear off as you cannot chuck it around like on a track.
You can also set technical track times on the RS5 but will struggle due to the drifting that the M4 constantly wants to do.
M4 is amazing fun in the right way but is not a proper Gt car.
I own one and I LOVE it, my favorite car I have owned. Do wish it was lighter and had a manual but you can't deny how much faster the DSG is than most humans!
The new rs5 is nowhere near as cool as this one
I'd still take the new RS5 over this one... so I can sell it and get 3 of these 😉
I’ve driven my dad’s rs5 almost everyday since he got it last year and i can say one thing for sure: flooring it never gets old
RS5 with Armytrix it's one of the best sounding V8's in the world!

That's one of my main gripes with audi. The weight and mostly the understeer
Say what you will, but if you can peel your eyes away from the number sheets, this car eclipses the competition in terms of the driving and ownership experience. Incredible sound, an outstanding gearbox, arguably the best styling by far, handling feel, etc etc etc. it's a winner in my book, especially as a used car.
i absolutely love the RS5. I really wanna get one. but I don't think I'll get the new tt. I love the NA V8 and the sounds from it. but time will tell when I'm able to take both for a drive and then decide. but will probably lean more towards a mildly used 2015 or 2016 with the V8 because of the price.
I live in Pittsburgh, PA. There's maybe 20 days of bright sunshine. We have 4 seasons. An AWD cruiser in wet weather is awesome. The Mercedes and BMW are super cars, no doubt. But in weather, I'll take the RS 5.
I have in my possession a B7 S4. I got it for 3500 bucks. It needs everything but this powerhouse is in my hands for dirt cheap.
I love my rs5. It may not be the fastest, the lightest or have the best infotainment system, but it is very comfortable, looks great and sounds quite devious with a Capristo exhaust.
disappointed you didn't mention the rc f at all. Identical 0-60 quarter mile time of 12.8 and 0-60 of 4.4. Similar weight and naturally aspirated v8 set up too.

I could see someone picking the RS5 over the M4 if they live in a cold climate. The AWD is far more practical in snow/cold weather than RWD. But in California? Im not sure why you would choose it over an m4 or c63

I own a blue 2013 and was thinking of replacing it with something new, but after months of shopping I couldn't find anything nicer looking with similar/better performance in a 100K budget... this car rocks too much!
The truth is you will not really be able to find another V8 unless you buy American such as Mustang or Charger.
Great review. I feel even further justified in purchasing my 2015 RS5, limited edition, sports package, that DOES have a more interesting interior, 1/75.
I think Parker is the only car review that likes steering wheel mounted paddles over the column mounted paddles.

This older model looks way better on the outside than the new one.. Interior it goes vice versa.. Why in the hell they had to make the new model's nose look like a bottom feeder..? This older Audi A5 Coupé is one of the most best looking cars of the 21st century so far in my opinion. This RS5 is more like a GT supérieur for all weather driving than a sportscarwhich makes it a way more practical for all year and everyday use.
You can get this generation RS5 for around $45,000 to $50,000 depending on how low the mileage is, would you guys buy it? Or what else would you buy for that price range?
I just bought a 2015 rs5 with 25k miles on it man and I love it. Best decision I have made in a long while.

i like how you call the rc-f outdated with their n/a v8 but the audi is refreshing to have a n/a v8 compared to the rest of the segment? contradicting much?
also the rcf is faster, lighter, smoother, more hp, more tq. you said the audi rs5 is a monster yet you said the rcf is only quick. lol okkkk. this shows you are biased to european cars.
ill admit, when i first drove the rc-f with torque vectoring diff, i was very disappointed coming from a lexus is-f. i later was invited to drive another rc-f half a year later. drove the regular mechanical torsen LSD one, it was a monster. bought it the same week.
the licenceplate means burning in austrian dialect ^^ this plus the never stop on the frame makes it perfect. NEVER STOP BURNING xD

Depends on where you do it and what the conditions are.
I prefer the analog dial in this one than the new digital cockpit.
The midscreen in the clustermeter is still very decent for satnav display.
Out of personal experience I can say: it's a very solid car, great fun, great daily driver. But I was very surprised to see how uncomfortable the seats are in this car, they don't look like it, but they certainly are far from comfortable.
I think you're the only person I know of who likes the paddles mounted on the steering wheel and not the steering column.
To the poster. Thanks for the review. I'd lose the front plate as it looks terrible. I'd rather get a ticket from the cops weekly then have my car look like that.
I'll take the RS5 I'm not running any quarter mile race or stuff like that. just every day driving. I love the way it looks. Around here BMW are a dime a dozen most look the same just like the Mercedes.

A RWD RS5 would be perfect. It would be a better match to that high-revving engine.
Tough choice. For the design, I would pick the AMG, the RS, and then the M just bc I'm not a fan of how the new M4 look in the front

In regards to the weight of the RS5 its heavier because its AWD which has its advantages.
Don't try and make sense to this uninformed "car guy". Audi A5/S5/RS5 they all could be used "daily" which includes rain, slick roads and of course the snow. Quattro is a lifesaver in any weather condition. Try to get around in the BMW and the Merc in knee deep snow then we'll talk again.
Parker you should do a review of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio! its the highest ranked car in in its class which is the same as the Cadillac ATS-V, Mercedes-AMG C63, and The BMW M4.

put a supercharger kit on it, stage 2 tune that john, and ur pushing about 680-700. just get ready to spend 15k to do it and then only have it for 4 years before ur engine busts

Two different types of cars.
You could get a used one of these or a new RS3 that would embarrass this in pretty much every performance category. Or heck, keeping it in VW family and a slightly tuned Golf R would be as quick.
This car appeals to someone who wants a high revving V8, that has nothing to do with the rs3 or golf r lmao. There is always a faster car, the overall experience is what really matters. I have a procharged 600hp stick shift 17 gt on low boost. Just because it's faster then an RS5 by alot, doesn't mean I prefer it over an rs5.

People do not drive their cars around the Nurburgring normally. They drive them on roads where there are limits and conditions and traffic.
And 99.99% of people could never replicate the times performed on the cars on the track. The track times are a useless measure for real world usage.

My friends stock rs5 did the quarter mile in 12.4 and says it couldve done better

He states that the later models are 6 cylinder twin turbos.

Get a used e9x M3. Audi ok but V8 M3 is a no brainer. Forget about the M3/4 inline TT 6. That sound is just so sad.
