From synthesizers to cars, we're living in the age of half-baked software, due to the profitability pressure on companies. I had to send in for a warranty case my 1.5 y.o. Prophet X, a beautiful machine, albeit feared for the bricked-on-boot "feature". My 40 y.o. T8 still goes strong... Thanks for the Video, I will be sitting on the side-line concerning Muse...
mine does this too, i turn it on and wait a bit. to warm it up, i run all 8 voices (osc 2 is more stable sometimes for whatever reason) for a bit and then quick tune. after the tune, its fine for a few hours, any detuning after that is solved with the quick tune. i made a warmup patch where i just press the hold button and it plays an 8 note chord for a while, then i quick tune and all is good. my minilogue xd does this same shit so im used to it. its my 2nd mini xd, and they both did it. i love this thing A LOT
Hahah “the new Choog” love your sense of humor. About the tuning, it takes a few minutes to stabilize the tuning, you need to let it warm up (Same thing happens with my OB-6). You can do the quick tune, specially in different temperatures, but do that after the tuning has already stabilized.
I bought this Moog Muse, was crazy about it and here comes the thing: Unfortunately, "Moog Muse" has terribly disappointed me.. To turn on this keyboard it takes more than a minute (!).. Functions do not work properly, lights go on and off quickly and without meaning. The speed of the envelope generators is WAY too slow.. Chords played faster produce unwanted fast arpeggios. I tested everything and even the new software (1.2) did not fix these serious bugs, so I have to warn about it.. De-tuning is a big problem, even the tuning function does not work. The keyboard froze even after programming faster sequences.. The overall sound was thin and not as fat as my old Moog products (Mini Moog, Memory Moog). My impression: This instrument is too digitally controlled inside by very slow and in the worst case... often incomplete processing. I returned the Moog Muse to the seller and I have to say, there is something very wrong with this new Moog and it doesn't sound like a typical Moog at all! The sound is also bad and not rich. Too many other synths sound fuller, richer and faster (envelope generators) and the filter here doesn't do what it promises!! Forget the actual "Moog" products. They are not what they promise and what they say they are. Direct comparison with my old Sequential Circuit products and many intensive tests finally opened my eyes after many hours, folks. Wake up... and stop believing in any advertisement for Moog... I'm sorry for all of you who fell into this trap like me. Sooner or later you will confirm what I am writing here.
So i had a bunch of issues with tuning, USB midi, vca envelope bleed and pops when voices dynamically change like if you're playing big chords on a long pad. Moog customer service is in disarray because of the hurricane so it took 3 weeks, 1 deleted service ticket and 2 closed ones, and an email to sales before I could get an RMA. Sent it out so hopefully the new one works properly!
I do love the synth and love the way it sounds so i hope it will get fixed one way or another. A big problem with manufacturing right now is they are rushing product out and skipping or diminishing the QA step so lots of bad quality gear is going out. It's a big problem with guitars also.
Whoever asked about downloads. At present you don't have to sign up, sign in etc to download the firmware update. The Muse manual states: "Register to gain access to updates and extras" or words to that effect. That light, at the end of the tunnel,. it's a train!
It proved impossible to register the product on the Moog site. Made an account after about 5 minutes of fumbling but then couldn't log in. The login window is all greyed out. I guess they can deny responsibility that way when they say,. "hey, you didn't register your product,.." Not such an InMusic fan. Can't update to the MPC ver 3 for the same internet cock-up.
he cut the scene out where the muse shows his os version while booting. this is the old very first buggy OS which was already updated when the first costumers received their units. thats an malicious move and shows the character of this guy. forget this channel.
Nope. Updated to 1.02 within an hour of opening the box. Didn't make any difference. You don't have to register at this point. Best of luck MB and welcome to the channel!
Too bad it has such weird quirks; otherwise, it would probably be a lot of fun. Stuff like that isn't just annoying on stage, but in the studio, every bug somehow kills the atmosphere and the creative flow. As soon as you have to start tinkering with something, the idea is gone. Well, with such strange artifacts when switching patches, new ideas probably come up there xD
Hi, It's working now. I don't know why. It's cool enough to keep and the warrantee is two years. I tried to register it at Moog but after creating an account I couldn't sign in so obviously another "InMusic" cluster. I'm on a mac. The stereo panning knob is the excellent part for me. I posted these comments last week but they never showed up here so it seems I don't have a clue about anything. Keep on chooglin' as they say..
Damage to reputation. this is the os the first moog muses were shipped with. when it arrived the new OS where already available. It still has some problems with midi and velocity as far as i know but other than that it should be very very stable. what this overweight and heavy breathing human shows you here is fake and malicious. I know that it is the old buggy os because of the boot time. he cut the os version out. malicious. the muse is for me the best analog polysynth out there. it is what i always wanted. great sound but very complex. polybrute is also insane. i bet this guy is one of these people sitting alone and sad in hos flat hating the world because it is so unfair to him but never tried anything to improve it. i really feel anger and shame for this guy.
It's trying to run 1.02 in the video. Is there a secret super-bandaid update you're not sharing with the rest of us? For what it's worth, you are right, I am not rich but I do live on private acreage which is payed for in full, so no mortgage which is the only way I can pay afford to pay $3800 usd for the privilege of being arbitrary.
I still have it. It's still stuffed. The salesman said they'd replace it when the stock arrives from the far east. The most recent estimate is late this week. I'm in the US where everything I've tried to buy in the past four months having to do with Eurorack, music stuff or computers has been "out of stock" , "backordered- more on the way", "reserve your stock now" blah blah. WTF? This the war(s)? The US "election"? SW and Uli having a falling out?
It's working now after standing in a corner for a month. No idea why. As yet, I've used it successfully about three times. I kept it. Warrantee is supposedly two years but couldn't register the product on line as the website interface doesn't work on a mac. The individual osc are slightly better but still noticeably off. The patches still sound good though so maybe it's a "feature"?

the only choog or twoog is the guy in the video. Baron of lies. none of them pointed it out because the new os was already available. ANd now, month later it is worlds apart from this. you call other people an asshole? i am asking myself what you are with this move.
I don't know if it's too late, but don't buy a Moog Muse. Dick explains that on June 13, 2023, Moog was acquired by InMusic (a large consortium) and manufacturing is now in Taiwan, after laying off a large portion of the Moog staff who were hand building them in Asheville, NC. Result: poor build quality, sound quality issues, etc... I'm going to lean more towards Arturia Polybrute, after learning about this change in direction. FrenchGuy ;)

End stage obsolescence

Smile, though your heart is breaking,..
I sell my Prophet 5 Desktop because of massive tuning-issues. My Muse works fine and stable. 🤷🏽

My first question was where is it made.
Thank you.
Any updates after 10 days?? Im
Curious. PB12 or muse is the question

As a Chinese, I agree with your political views.
ok thx, deleted from list 😀
Have you tried leaving it unplugged?

You kept it or returned it? The tuning stability never got better?

Was this a write-off?

FrenchGuy ;)
Place of manufacturer doesn't matter.
No? Why lie about it then? Unless you think not telling the truth is a different thing.
