Started a new game on my PS4 Pro yesterday and this trick still works fine. Only difference was that Dogmeat had the Cryolator in his inventory and I took it from him.
That's the same behaviour I got on the PC
If this isn't working for you. Go into the overseer bedroom, pull out your pistal and spam the sleep command on the bed. Dogmeat should pop up behind you. I suggest making a hard save after exiting the vault in case they make future patches to this. In case you wanna do a new game later.
I didn't want to go back in any save. It's scary accidentaly taking a wrong turn and seeing your dead loved one.

@GeneralPol I'm wearing full raider gear and it opened for me, pretty sure you can wear anything.
Tried this yesterday on PS5 and it didn’t work. The dog just stood in front of the locked box and barked.
I records this on PC with the latest update, would have thought it would work on the PS5 too. Anyone else able to get it to work on PS5?
Think they must have fixed this recently then. I’ve tried this last week and it worked on my ps5
It does not work for PS5, i had tried for the last 3 days, even send dogmeat back to red rocket and recruit him again

Dog not comin
He didn't initially for me, command him over near the entrance of the vault and he should come down with you
If he doesn't go in with you, walk to the overseer office, then into the nearby bedroom. Pull out your pistal. If he's still not there spam the sleep command on the bed with your pistal still out... dogmeat should pop up behind you...

They patched it up, does not work
I recorded this only a few days ago, using the new patch (PC)
@@GeneralPol i think its been patched again. PC here. dogmeat cant even enter vault 111
