I love ' The Last Rose of Summer ' They do it so Well. My Wife and Daughter had the privilege of seeing Andre Rieu and His Orchestra in person in Allentown Pa a few years ago. Luckily my Daughter was a Volunteer at the PBS TV station that had Rieu here and she and my Wife got to meet him in person and had pictures taken with him.
I seen him in Dublin. The tickets for his concerts are unbelievable expensive in Ireland. The only reservation I would have is that he kept "milking" the audience at the end of the show for more encores...three in all (I think).
this song expresses the full glory of the rose in full bloom, yet it still holds a subtle hint of sadness that it is the last rose of the year. God i love this song!!!
My rose of summer died on the 5th of April 2010... I will miss her so much words cannot describe!!! She was more than an Aunt she was my besy friend!!!!
Beautiful version of this song featuring the master flautist, Teun Ramaekerson on the whistle, with Andre and the JSO. It is like a duet, and so wonderful to hear -- and to see the smile on Teun's face after this performance. This gentleman truly is an artist with anything even resembling a flute and deserves all the admiration and accolades he receives. I feel sure our great violinist/conductor, Andre Rieu, is grateful for the many years of loyalty Teun has had toward him and is happy to share this marvelously gifted and skilled musician with us. Thank you, Andre.
The most beautiful version of this song I have ever heard. The flautist is amazing! My mother used to play it on the violin, I loved it, but this version is outstanding.
_I went to see André Rieu some years after this recording. Did I enjoy...yes and no...I didn't appreciate him "milking" the audience for more encores at the end of the concert._
@@clarebannerman I would have gone with my mother to a concert, but with flight, hotel and very high prices on the concert tickets, we cannot afford it. I think prices could be reduced. When he has a private fortune on, was it 40milj $, owns and lives in a castle and can do exactly what he wants... so he could think that everyone is not as wealthy as he is ... My mother used to play the violin, so it would for her sake, have been an experience, but, but...
Love Teun so gifted ! Andre ' also J.S.O. Together GRAND ! I am Irish both Great Grandparents are from Ireland !! Fathers side name is Moore and he and I and his father was talented in poetry . Maybe a heartfelt connection. I will now check. I Thank you for this . I am 75 now I love the TH-cam thank you !
I'm reading The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins and the police Sergeant Cuff hums this song frequently, I had to find it. This was just beautiful, thank you.
When I was in boarding school some 45 years back, myself and five other young gentlemen played this in the talent show - think of it - six teenage boys playing this while one of us sang it.
When a nation produces music like this one wonders why they never listen to it - and sing together to such an eternal piece humanities jewels of the music world........
Listen to it all the time, my sister died tragically in 1971 when she was only gone 16 years. She was a beautiful singer and this was her main party piece. It’s important to remember our heritage. Ireland is not just my country it’s a gift to the world.
TEUN!!!! is just a fabulous wonderful person !! Andre sure knows how to pick perfect people .... For his orchestra . Andre makes heavenly music... Thank. You for posting this.
Clarebannerman, that is a fabulous video, made all the better by your explanation of its origins. I have been told that the flageolet player, Teun Ramaekers, spent a lot of time in Dublin perfecting his, obviously, very natural technique. Thanks again for putting it up. I come back to it again and again.
One of my cousins has been so enchanted by this rendering of The Last Rose of Summer that she'd like it played at her funeral. Hard to beat that sort of rating!
I had heard of moments when something magic happens and its as if the the music plays the musician but had never seen or heard it until this when the amazing musician with his penny whistle is 'gone' and the music is playing him - pure magic - goosebumps all over.
Bellissimo!! covers it. Wonderful music Andre Rieu, and special thanks to Teun Ramaekers for his awesome tune on the tin whistle. I keep coming back to this beautiful tune, time and again.
Os anos passam e as emoções seguem, com esta lindíssima melodia. Um instrumental magnífico Obrigada maestro André Rieu,Teum Ramaekers e JSO. Parabéns. ❤🎉😊🎉❤
Listening this Masterpiece over and over.....still very good ! How can be so beautiful ? Highly Honorable Sir John Stevenson ! Superb Perfomance of Andre Rieu, The Great !
Speak, dear Andre and your orchestra, speak, not in words, but through the universal language of music, through this memorable and beautiful melody, through this indescribable beauty, o speak...
One of the loveliest songs written. It was the first Thomas Moore song I ever sang and won cups with this in competitions for 'Moores melodies'. This is a beautiful arrangement.
By the great almighty God! I am now (according to my straight-talking doctor) dying, and it is only thanks to my Son, who enabled me to go "online" that I am able to enjoy the simply wonderful music of A.H
I would like to publicly thank you tube, Andre Reiu, and all the musicians and song writers who contribute to our enjoyment. It would be a sad place without music, music is "the wind beneath my wings" (and thank you Divine Miss M!)
Mr. Rieu, my most cordial congratulations. Not only do you make people happy with your music, but also ... you earn a lot of money doing what you like. You are a privileged person of life. 99% of mortals work out of obligation, but you work out of devotion. I congratulate.
The lyrics of The Last Rose Of Summer "Poem by Thomas Moore" are haunting, but this Penny-Whistle instrumental version evokes deeper sentimental emotion combined with the Master Violinist and his full Johann Strauss Orchestra. Bravo it is a musical Masterwork. Marten Heinrich Rehders.
Andre' and Teun ...two friends in Life , two friends in Music's Life ...than this Beauty is born...The Last Rose of Summer..., The Last Rose of Summer in Year..., the Last Rose of Summer in our Life... Let the Music speaks by Andre's Heart ...by Teun 's sounds..., Thank You, Andre' for the Magic, Love - Beba..

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder but here we hear such brilliance all of our sense are stimulated - wonderfully played and orchestrated... thank you all.... a privilege to be able to see and hear you all.....
Might not expect something from an old cowboy like me but it is beautiful. My Cherokee wife plays the American Indian flutes as well as the Irish. So don't expect anything wise or pithy from me, I just enjoy listening to this as much as I do listening to my Kathy play her flute made from a tree limb in the Georgia swamps.
