Can you guys tell me after new install of patio slide doors why i get a water drip leak from the fixed end part of frame Bumper stop at the top. Everything on outside looks ok but some water is getting in inside frame and comes out around edges of bumper stop giving us a long water stain down the window
@@hupomeno9035 measurement is from the smallest opening of the aluminum frame in width and height. Say the smallest is 56wide and 24high. Then take 0.25” off from each just to be safe and then order window that’s half inch smaller than the opening . 55.25”x 23.25” You can even go smaller
What kind of window is that. Other videos I have seen put the flange against the plywood, then use flashing, then seal, then the lath, then stucco. The window you use seems far easier.
I believe this takes advantage of the aluminum frame's weatherproofing, as otherwise one would have to use flashing, then seal, then the lath, then stucco
Silly question perhaps, I, or Lowe's installers, will not have to re stucco with these types of window installations?? The idea of re stuccoing has kept me from getting new windows instead of my metal windows.
Are you kidding me?? They didn't take out the existing frame. They are trying to legitimize their sloppy installation process by creating videos like this. Take out the previous frame and install the new frame properly.
Hi,
I'm Troy McCLure. You may remember me from such how-to videos as "How to Install a Window-Stucco Homes".

How does one measure for this type of replacement? Would one measure from the top of the aluminum frame or from the sill?
This one is much different than alot of the other videos. Strange that it rests on that little wood filler. Is this normal and common practice?
Having a filler is helpful. I’m also researching as I need to do at my home. All videos I came across have bottom filler at least
@@medirs So do you start the measurement from top of the metal frame at the bottom or from the sill?

Why not trim/cutoff the window frame lips, that way the new window can sit directly on the sill, reducing the need for a filler?

Can I remove the window shims after the foam dries up. I want to foam where the shims where then replace the screws.
Don't worry about that, wood is a great insulator itself.
you should never remove the shims, it's essential for keeping the window squared/on level.

Well done!
should have mentioned how to size windows
Just measure the opening of the window lol
@@rafars2246 What do you mean opening.. .jamb to jamb?
@@rafars2246 Do you measure from the inside of the room or the outside
Thanks
