I have been sewing for about 68 years. The very first video that I saw of yours I learned so very much about the thread! I sew mostly clothes as I started a business , like a million years ago, sewing for larger women. One lady was going on a cruise and wanted a sexy bathing suit. Word spread from there and it just kind of exploded. I am retired now and only sew for who I want to sew for. I am going to sew a great grand baby quilt for my great grand babies. So I am going to "binge" watch all your videos. Thank you so much for your videos. They are so informative that I have sent your video link to many of my friends that quilt. Some of them professionally. I do not do longarm, but they do. Thank you again. Deborah
lol, I’ve almost stopped watching 3 times, but somehow you draw me back at just the right moment. I had to remind myself a few times that this was a mini model; I’m very keen to try it at full size! So colourful! Thanks for this one. Your tenacity is inspiring to me.
This was like a mystery movie, waiting for each of your magic steps. So much fun and no hair pulling and screaming. I have done the "old" method with lots of waste and lackluster results. As always I appreciate your calm voice that always carries such notes of joy which gives me hope for my project. You are a great teacher.
Dannnnnng, this is incredible! I love the look of heringbone but winced at the thought of all the waste. What a fantastic solution! Thanks so much. This will be fun to try!
That was my reaction!! I hated all that cut off! And it didn't even seem like useful scraps since they were weird shapes. I knew there had to be a better way!
This is absolutely brilliant! I think I would try a floor pillow or baby quilt size as a first time project. Thank you for another fantastic tutorial-always appreciated 🧡
Wow! Feels like it is perfect for a vest pattern with piped or flanged side and shoulder seams. Also any ombre fabric would be fascinating to try with this pattern. Thank you so much for sharing, and I can hardly wait to try it. P.S. Before, I always did a braid, instead of a herringbone, with half hexagons. I like the ‘zipper magic’ of using logs (rectangles) instead. 😎🌱🌿💚
I love that you are doing tutorials on more advanced techniques!! (If I never see another HST tutorial… enough said.) Thank you!! This looks like a fun puzzle to explore and I love that it won’t add to my growing crumbs collection!
Ummm, last night in my insomnia I watched your video and then this afternoon I had to make it. It was amazingly easy and I love the way it turned out. Can’t wait to make another one!
Thank you for putting out this TH-cam again, it’s my favorite. I need it if I haven’t made the pattern for awhile. I would buy an in depth, well illustrated pattern if you wanted to publish it.
Wow! This is beautiful and it's a project I actually understand how to assemble, thanks to your thorough instructions! I love your videos, you're such a good teacher! Your quilt is stunning. The fabric choices are so beautifully artistic. You're just amazing! Thank you for sharing so much with the quilting community ❤️
Wow….love the end result….but way too too much work! For those who like to piece, this is a great method for not waste of fabric! Great job and patience 😋🤗
THANK YOU for embracing the dreaded Y seam! I've always thought things would work out better if we just sucked it up and sewed them. An lo and behold - voila! Amazing results! Thanks for always bringing a thoughtful approach to making lovely things. Love, love, love your tutorials!
Brilliant! Partial seams sound intimidating to this newbie but you make it look achievable. Thanks for providing a free pattern so I won't get mixed up with the layout 😅
Fantastic! Great pattern, you are very clever. Thank you for the great tutorial, you made it look like l could actually try this. Looking forward to doing this with all those big bold fabrics you don't want to cut up into small pieces. Really enjoy your channel :)
Ive seen this video like 3 times since you posted it and I think I'm going to try it. Can't get the idea out of my head! It would be sooooo cooooool! and I would feel like a magic wizard when I was done.
Thank you for all the work you have put into this pattern. This zipper quilt turned into one of my go-to quilts. I scale it down (5”X18” pieces) for baby quilts, and scale it up by adding more chevrons and more rows of chevrons, for a wonderful wedding gift. I ordered more fabric to make it again for a gift, so thank you again for your pattern.
Megan, this is so very clever! In the midst of making a herringbone background, I found this video! I love that there is no waste from cutting off the ends on each side, and I'm so pleased that my quilt is just a little larger! Thank you so much for posting this tutorial.
I've never done a partial seam in piecing, so this will stretch my skills. And maybe patience. But I have a few FQ bundles that might just be perfect for this. LOVE all the colors!
Thank you for this video. Clear, concise, easy to follow directions. I've been saving blue jeans since the 80s. I used 16 pairs making a quilt for my 10 yo granddaughter using this technique. My strips were 30' x 6'. It came out to a queen size and perfect. I wish I could share a photo of it with you. Thanks again!
I made this quilt in less than a day. Super fun. Had to watch video a few times while making. It was like a magic trip in fabric. Thanks again, Megan, for great you tube quilting content!!!
I have now watch this for the third time as I am working on my third project using this technique. I have been using jelly rolls. This one I did three panels before I sold them together. Love how it turns out. Love the limited waste. Always enjoy your videos. Cheers.
I love how this turned out and you are right it is going to stretch some brain muscle to not get all turned around but this would make such a cute table topper or wall hanging and I think I am going to have to try this. I haven't looked at the pattern yet but is there a way to calculate the finished size based on your logs cut and used? What a great way to show off some of those wonderful fabrics that you hate to cute up too small.
THX! Heading to a retreat at the end of this month, and I’m making a stained glass denim ombré quilt for my amazing daughter. I so appreciate your insightful techniques!😊
This wonderful! Such a cool trick to use in order to save the fabric that is normally cut off and discarded or recycled. Thanks so much. Take care and blessings to y'all.
I love this! It's so clever and beautiful. It will be my next quilt - a perfect way to finally use some of the fat quarter bundles that I have been reluctant to "cut". I really appreciate the no-waste element. Thank you for this wonderful tutorial.
Spectacular video & quilt. I'm, literally, salivating as I view the fabric. I've not been sewing for several yrs, time to return to my happy place. Thank you.
The Opinionated Quilter sent me here and I'm so glad she did. Genius!
It wasn't until you cut the first "tube" that I understood what you were doing. Brilliant! *sigh* - Add another to my list of projects to try.
Lol. Sorry? But not really :). This is a really fun quick one so I hope you enjoy it :)

Thanks! The little pieces I used were about 1 1/2 x 5 and I ended up with a 12" block. Hopefully that helps you size a bit for a smaller quilt :)
Idk how you ever thought of all this but its amazing thank you
Oh I think your 1 - Hour quilt video will have competition for the most views on your channel with this pattern 😀

Me too! Confident it will work so am going to get busy today!!!!! How smart this young lady is. Who would have thought of this fabric-saving idea!!!!!

Made it using upcycled upholstery material! Worked out well and the instructions were very good. Thanks!
This was great.
I also noticed that The Opinionated Quilter liked this video/concept. She's a tough audience. Congrats.
Just love this. And the Anna Marie Horner quilt.
This tiny one is a perfect size for a bag panel! My brain is turning! 😁😁😁🤓🤓
Not sure when you made this BUT I LOVE IT ❤️ GO GIRL. I can't wait to learn more!!❤

Hello
Wow! Now that’s what you call a PUZZLE. Only you could explain it this well!!!
Love it!
And great to see it worked in miniature for those of us who sew mostly for dolls.
THANK YOU for embracing the dreaded Y seam! I've always thought things would work out better if we just sucked it up and sewed them. An lo and behold - voila! Amazing results! Thanks for always bringing a thoughtful approach to making lovely things. Love, love, love your tutorials!
Absolutely brilliant!!!!!!!!! Gotta love your fabric choice for the quilt xxx
Anna Maria sure does make some absolutely gorgeous and equally hard to use prints! lol. I wanted to keep the pieces as big as I could :)
@@TinyOrchardQuilts I agree with you, so pretty and hard to cut up, like Kaffe and Tula too xxx
Brilliant! Partial seams sound intimidating to this newbie but you make it look achievable. Thanks for providing a free pattern so I won't get mixed up with the layout 😅
Hello how are you doing
You area a GENIUS 🥇🧠🫵🏻🤩
After doing the top and bottom - I think I would be tempted to make a barrel pillow. (If working in that small size)
Wow! Love it! I think if i can pull this off, I would earn a phd in fabric engineering!
I love it in this “mini size”!
Wow! Thank you for this. I can’t wait to make one. You are a clever mathematician AND a magician!!

Megan, you are a genius! Thanks for this great tutorial!
Nice job teaching. Showed all the important steps and pointed out where it might look different on a larger scale.
What an incredible teacher you are! This is the only tutorial that I've seen that makes sense to me! Thank you for sharing.
Oh my goodness! I have used herringbone for borders many times, but a whole quilt? and with no waste! This is definitely on my bucket list now.
Amazing. I don’t think I’ll try it but your instructions are wonderful. 🌺
This is amazing! Mind blown 😮
Thankyou for showing me on how to stitch this together without trimming off all the small pieces on the sides will be doing this to my quilt

This is a very good video, Thank you. If you don´t cut it open, you can create a bag (bigger scale).
Angelina how are you doing over there
Omg how clever is that! 😍😍😍
I've never done a partial seam in piecing, so this will stretch my skills. And maybe patience. But I have a few FQ bundles that might just be perfect for this. LOVE all the colors!
