Hello, I wanted to post my experience because a lot of people are coming down on you. So, this was my experience changing my BCM on my 2011 Chevy Impala. I purchased a used BCM, part number was correct. Took my lower dash apart and unplugged the 7 couplers that jack into the BCM. Then I placed the car key in the ignition and turned it on. Then I hot swapped the BCM by plugging in the couplers. As I did the lights on the dash came on. Then after all the couplers were plugged in, I started my car and as it ran all the lights on the dash came on, such as traction control, ABS, Stability Track error and so fourth. As the car ran, the lights turned off. I kept the car running for about 12 minutes. Turned it off because one of my concerns was the anti theft system. Everything worked fine, I checked it with my Tech 2 program, anti theft system was working, my FOB to open/lock doors, pop trunk, and auto start vehicle worked. The mileage carried over from the original mileage. Drove the vehicle for 50+ miles if any learning was needed. It actually worked, I have to say I was surprised. That was my experience, thank you for coming up with the idea.

Did you fix it? Have you looked up if your car has a way to reset the car anti theft lock/security light. ? If it has a step by step process then that might work. It worked for my car, since thats what needs to be synced. The ignition switch cannot communicate properly until it is reset, for my car it was a 30 minute process and a $30 part from the junkyard.

Aaron do you think this would work in a 2009 Nissan Rogue as well? The keys are working intermittently right now but my mechanic just told me that the BCM was the reason they weren't working consistently and that I had to take it to the dealer which want half as much as the thing is worth to replace and reprogram which is crazy. I'd appreciate a reply and thanks for your time.

I had a retired police 2006 Impala. All I wanted was the dome light to come on when I open the door. I swapped the bcm with one I got from the junkyard. The dome light comes on when I opened the doors but now I have check engine light. The camshaft position sensor and no matter what I did it never went off. Including replacing sensor and erasing the code or even putting the original bcm back in. Also maybe you should have replaced the battery in your fob or reprogram it.

Put your original bcm back in, take your key fob apart. Clean the circuit board contacts with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Replace the battery if you haven't done that. Most times that will fix the key fob.
Greg , what is a key fob ? what does it stand for .. i saw also on ebay you can buy these BCM that were in a car you have make sure you buy the right one for your same car.. would that just work without repraming you think ? since it was in the same monte carlo .. $40 they want for it 2003 Monte carlo BCM must of been pulled out of a junk car
My 08 Vue's brake lights are staying on while key is out of ignition. It only shuts off when I pull the fuse for BCM VB3. I checked the brake pedal sensor (it's good), replaced the engine stop light fuse. Do I have to replace the BCM?
God bless you for your help. I was wondering do you disconnect the battery terminals till the next day before or after the swap? 4 years later and I feel that it’s become worse out here. Fast food inflation has gone up to %70.
If you have a bad bcm, DO NOT take off your battery cables, or your car will not start back up. At 5:22. ONLY IF YOU HAVE A BAD BCM, if you disconnect the battery beforehand, you have to let the car sit overnight (to drain all the power from the cars computer) then in the morning reconnect and it will run. ONLY DO THAT if you have to change your battery (if you say, have a bad battery) to get your car to run WITH A BAD BCM.
Thanks for the info on my BCM. As you described the problem it is exactly what is happening to my 2001 L300 Saturn. And thank you for how to replace it and reprogram it. However, did the used bcm still have the program from the previous vehicle? Thanks from Jim of Roseburg Oregon
Just watched your video and my power windows on my Saturn ion 2007 does not work nor does the power locks on the driver side master switch is it the same for an 07 Saturn ion to swap out the BCM as it as it was for your vehicle
Hey, That is not how to program the BCM. What you showed was how to get it to keep the theft deterrent and some other settings to remain in memory. These are called learns or relearns, not programming. Programming involves transferring the data from from the vehicle manufacturer site to the used module or transferring from one module to the other using an appropriate hardware devices and software. But your video non the less did show a method of how to swap a module, and keep your vehicle running without getting into key or theft system problems. At least it so appears on that particular vehicle. Definately worth trying and worth while. I am not sure but did your vehicle display the original mileage after or that from the used BCM ?
David Kellner firstly mileage is save on BCM . And then while you starting engine like these used BCM and turnoff , you can not restart by thieft detection. I am sure.
Anyone know what to do when your keyless entry stops working in an 03 gmc sierra?...yes i changed the key fob and actually bought new ones...but i cant get into the programming mode...if i have to have the bcm changed and reprogrammed, ill just live without
What every you do, DO NOT spill the Ice Tea 😜 I was told if you get a bcm with same part number you don't need to reprogram to your vehicle? Thanks for sharing, good stuff.

I'm trying to get factory cruise control I added to my 2000 SL2 working. I'm a Saturn Forum member and get so many answers that a Swap is all I needed to have the cruise enabled. Did the swap, and now "No Start !" I believe it's a security issue and I also believe I was told wrong that this procedure works just swapping the BCM that was from a Donor W/Cruise option. O.K., If all of you Genius's out there that put other peoples comments down, how is this done then ?! If a lot of You know about car's so much and how this works, how do You enable the Cruise after all the parts are connected ?! Let's see how many of You can give the correct advice. The Forum states "IT CAN BE DONE !" Let Me know, then. We'll see. Most Dealers said they can't enable it because of the age, or say there's no guarantee it'll work, You pay the $135 either way. Lol, I don't think so. We'll see which way is correct, here.
So I'm thinking about buying a 2004 very clean Saturn Vue for 300 bucks the guy took the cables off the battery to replace for a new battery he then said the car security acted as if it was stolen hasn't started for 5 months he gave up just wants it gone was supposed to be for his son so is it worth buying it? Or am I getting into something too expensive and too much work for 300 dollars? I figure I could flip it for a profit if I can fix it but if it's too much then I'll pass but I'd like your feedback please, thanks..
If you don't buy it let me know where it is. Just kidding, buy it though. Just insert the key and turn it to run and leave it there for like 10 minutes. Then turn over motor and drive it home. That usually will fix or by-pass the security lock. I have even used the key fob too, just press unlock twice if it works. If neither works then maybe stay clear of it.

Sure stuff still works but you changed the miles on your vehicle and probably unlearned crankshaft position if you do that you will never know the actual mileage it has
Will that work for my 02 envoy. I replaced the multi switch for the cruise control right after the cruise stopped working and it said that the BCM is the problem. According to the scanner. And does it work the same way to reprogram the other BCM I got for it. I made sure that they were matching numbers and all. But it won't start with the other BCM.

Hey Aaron did you get the BCM to work? I need to replace a 2004 Saturn Vue AWD. And wow $150.00 is a lot to have a dealer to program the BCM..Plus $160.00 to 250.00 for the BCM, plus labor..
Mikki Rhodes I'm in the same boat right now. I have a 2004 Chevy Malibu that the brake lights don't work. That's the only problem. The mechanic said it was the BCM and I'm on disability so can't afford much so I ordered used one on ebay. Then once it's here I find out it needs to be programed and now I'm screwed because I can't afford the labor plus the programming. But at the same time I wonder if mechanic was wrong. Idk. I'll never know unless there's a good guy out there that can check it for me free to confirm this guy's diagnosis but they all charge me and I just can't pay more money.
mom2two So ,first check your fuses, you may only need to replace fuse for a couple of bucks. Second see if someone will disconnect your battery cables for half hour to see if BMC might correct itself. My mechanic just replace my starter, $ 170.00 for starter, and $100.00 for labor.i got $ 40 bucks back once I returned the core 👍🏾. Now I notice my mechanic had to disconnect the battery to put the starter in, and the BMC problem I thought I had has been corrected. There is a You tube video with a guy talking about this. Hope this helps.

So turn the key to on position then swap the bcm and it's good to go? 2010 traverse won't even start because of the bcm going out and like most I can't afford $600 for a new one and to "flash" it. Really hope this works for me. Gonna order a used bcm from same yr/make/model and try this
Did you fix it? Have you looked up if your car has a way to reset the car anti theft lock/security light. ? If it has a step by step process then that might work. It worked for my car, since thats what needs to be synced. The ignition switch cannot communicate properly until it is reset, for my car it was a 30 minute process and a $30 part from the junkyard.
@@justchillin7274 no it didn't, I had to reprogram the key. Luckily my neighbors friend works for a repo company and they had the scan tool and let me use it. Took like 12 mins for it reprogram
Hey...thank you, man. You good ppl. I hope something wonderful and amazing happens for you and yours one day when it's needed. Be safe.
AWESOME nobody tells anyone these things without getting something for it thank you
I think id rather wait a day for the system to reset the risk damaging other delicate electronics on the vehicle.
there are sellers on ebay that sell remanufactured BCM's for 250 and they will reprogram your BCM for free if you give your VIN number, year make and model of your vehicle
Watch out for bait and switch scams, Fla company's are bad.
I've got to change the BCM in my 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6. Thanks for telling me about turning the key on first. Also, thanks for pointing out the mileage change after swapping the BCM.
Did you succesful change the BCM using this method ....?
Wonder if this would work on other GM BCMs. I've been looking for the location of my RCDLR on a 2002 Escalade, but no one will tell me where it is or if it too needs to be programed???
Thank you! This also worked on a 2014 KIA Sorento!

Thank you and also maybe somebody asked. My 2006 Cobalt. Has the ac controls with the plugs as well as the interior fuse box has the two plugs do I just do the ones plugged into my AC component? There are three separate plugs in that guy. But could see where I would possibly need to do the fuse box as well? Or just the three in the ac plugins? Sorry. But like you said. No money and so much work I've put into this car
Aaron thank you I am ordering a BCM for my car a 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara , it looks like I need to turn on the key during the disconnecting of the cables to the old BCM and reconnecting of the cables to the new BCM. Without turning off the key after it's replaced, I turn on the ignition? Just reinforcing what you have taught me. I enjoyed your video thank you for sharing.
Well Michelle....Did i a used one work?
Would this work for a new BCM that has never been programmed?
This procedure work other makes, models? Specifically 2005 Nissan Pathfinder LE?
Man I'm so glad I found your video I've been holding on to a bcm from a exact trick like mine been nervous about just swapping it out you just saved me a headache I would have had...going to do this in the morning....and your right I try to help people I see in need of help I'll still pull over to help someone on the roadside and don't ever ask for anything in return...thanks you
So how did it work out? I bet it didn't. 😂
I listen closely and boom it worked on my 2007 Suburban thank you
I did really work?
How did you get the security light to go out
Good info, which is pretty scarce on this subject. Thanks so much and keep the faith!
Wow you are a genius... would this work for 2008 cts??
so a used bcm will give you the speedometer reading from the vehicle it came out of??
i don’t like that one bit.. my 99 Deville needs one but has 55k original miles on it.. any suggestions?
I’m looking to purchase a 2004!Saturn ion 2 2.2L where would you recommend finding a BCM for that car if it would fail
I sent my BCM off to get repaired they kept the same info on it just fixed the problems all for a 100 bucks and when I got it back just plug and play everything worked
Where did you send it ? I need mine repaired

2003 envoy. I unplugged just how you said. Gauges never shut off. Plugged in the new one and still has the same miles. Wont start. Security light blinking
So… if I disconnect the battery on this Squattern … the BCM looses all its instructions? Programming ?
Does this work for a Hyundai Sonata 2014?
I had a retired police 2006 Impala. All I wanted was the dome light to come on when I open the door. I swapped the bcm with one I got from the junkyard. The dome light comes on when I opened the doors but now I have check engine light. The camshaft position sensor and no matter what I did it never went off. Including replacing sensor and erasing the code or even putting the original bcm back in. Also maybe you should have replaced the battery in your fob or reprogram it.
Thank you Sir; I'll gonna work on my 97 honda crv; I 've issues with door lock ,and internal light as well cigarrete lighter, ran some test on electrical shorts, but i think is the BNC. You mention the used bnc you replaced with , show the milage of the original car. My car only has 174,000 miles i should get something less than 200,000 right ?, I like your opinion.
$40 they want for it 2003 Monte carlo BCM must of been pulled out of a junk car
exellent tip your a good man thank you
My 08 Vue's brake lights are staying on while key is out of ignition. It only shuts off when I pull the fuse for BCM VB3. I checked the brake pedal sensor (it's good), replaced the engine stop light fuse. Do I have to replace the BCM?
Will the same trick works on 2007 Cadillac Escalade?
Wanted does concept n experience apply as well on 2917 Malibu Premier with push Start?
Thanks for the info on my BCM. As you described the problem it is exactly what is happening to my 2001 L300 Saturn. And thank you for how to replace it and reprogram it. However, did the used bcm still have the program from the previous vehicle? Thanks from Jim of Roseburg Oregon
Did u ever fix your problem
My Saturn l300 2001 miles are Unknown as well
Will this work for 2003 Cadillac Seville STS
Just watched your video and my power windows on my Saturn ion 2007 does not work nor does the power locks on the driver side master switch is it the same for an 07 Saturn ion to swap out the BCM as it as it was for your vehicle
Hey,
That is not how to program the BCM.
What you showed was how to get it to keep the theft deterrent and some other settings to remain in memory.
These are called learns or relearns, not programming.
Programming involves transferring the data from from the vehicle manufacturer site to the used module or transferring
from one module to the other using an appropriate hardware devices and software.
But your video non the less did show a method of how to swap a module, and keep your vehicle running without
getting into key or theft system problems.
I am sure.
Anyone know what to do when your keyless entry stops working in an 03 gmc sierra?...yes i changed the key fob and actually bought new ones...but i cant get into the programming mode...if i have to have the bcm changed and reprogrammed, ill just live without
Mileage is saved in both bcm and pcm

#1 this is great if you own a 2002 saturn Vue
#2 You didn't "program" anything you just plugged the plugs into a different module
#3 Whatever you did here didn't work...

Do you have to leave the battery disconnected to successfully get the new Body control module to work when reinstalled.
Man pulled up his ebrake and said “why is my brake light on” but he’s a “mechanic” 😂
Ebreak doesnt cause the lights to turn on, its only activated with foot break
Matt-Matt ebrake does cause the light on the dash to come on that says brake to let you know one of 2 things. 1 your ebrake is on. 2. Your brake fluid is low

Will that work for my 02 envoy. I replaced the multi switch for the cruise control right after the cruise stopped working and it said that the BCM is the problem. According to the scanner.

"Don't never unplug-take your battery cables off.... Sorry man, but you shouldn't be giving advice on something you know so little about. All you did was a module swap, reprogramming requires a J2534 pass-thru device, or dealer scan tool. Many vehicles that are CAN bus equipped this advice will brick several modules, leaving you with a vehicle that won't start, and needing many modules, that need actual programming.
Actually, modules are independent on a Can bus, for this exact purpose. If one breaks, the others remain intact.
