Suggest you have at least 15 pulpwood cars each for Parsons tannery and Silva paperboard before taking a contract. Failing to spot enough pulpwood will kill your reputation, and your income with it. Ask me how I know.😂 Note: Pulpwood takes several hours to load vs one hour for logs.
Well, by the time that update hit, I had both interchanges unlocked. So after spending half the day at 1x speed sorting everything around, next time I open the game (expecting to skip a few hours and then gather a few cars on the evening run) the first message that greets me is literally "here, have another 100 cars". 45 at Sylva (they didn't leave a runaround track! I had to pull one of the lines out just to get the local locomotive to the other side) and 55 at Andrews (filled 4 tracks out of 5). And there also were couple payments for coal hoppers - but the hoppers weren't there. It was about midnight by the time it all got delivered (also, it was a total chaos when everything met at Alarka Junction, especially since one of the locomotives ran out of water)
On day 33, going the no debt route. Did Bryson before going to sylva. Gonna try a few industries at T4 while starting to build out to fontana. I'm flying solo on this.. worried I may not be able to service the entire railroad in a 24 hr period.
i opened sylvia at 7pm with empties at whitaker interchange clicked next day the cars at whittaker had to go to sylvia inter and my passenger rating went from 110 percent to 80 perccent and more cars waiting at sylvia when i got there
I've run out of coal in Bryson, what is the procedure to get a second fully dedicated coal hopper for the Bryson coaling tower ? Love you videos but apparently I missed how that second coal hopper was obtained. Thanks looking forward to more vids.
You can buy rolling stock just like you buy locomotives or anything else. Buy another hopper and then setup the waybill to fill and unload where you want.
Really weird. While watching this video I saw that the movie “Emperor of the North” came on TV. One of the great train movies with steam locos in very similar railroad to the game.
You get double cars at the interchange when you do the Alarka Milestone because there are 18 cars for that alone. Its kind of a bug. Instead of giving you the cars that wouldn't fit, it gives you some of tomorrows too.
Since I started playing, there was always the possibility of a second interchange drop, but only if the first drop filled the yard, and didn't drop everything needed for the day. The second drop would happen 4 hours after the first (so default was 6am/10am, but you could reschedule the first drop earlier if you wanted to start the day in the dark!). Patch this week retimed the second (if needed) drop to +1:30hrs (so 7:30am assuming default 6am drop), that can be a race to empty the yard to make room for the second drop!! But you can now call for additional drops manually, which will happen +1:30hr following the request, and will drop appropriate additional cars for the industries you have contracts with, and will pick up early returns! I have occasionally seen too many cars arrive for some delivery locations, so I've had to leave cars in a local yard, to await spotted cars to complete service. The biggest benefit of manual request interchange services, is the ability to clear out the interchange before you bring in more returns. There were a number of times in my first playthrough where I had up to 6 cars which wouldn't fit into the exchange and had to delay until the next day.... which very occasionally could result in a cascade event, where you were fighting to get stuff returned in a timely manner.
I wasn't aware you could manually request an extra interchange service, thanks! Been getting some very small amounts of cars so hopefully will get a bit more to fill up the rest of the day 😂
@@matthewgotts1 It was added in a patch last week. Before that if you filled the exchange with the first drop, there would be a second 4hrs later. Now the possible second is only 1.5 hours later (so get scooting to empty the exchange before it's due). But you can request extras on top of that.
Im really enjoying tbis game. On day 20 right now! Whats your favorite engine you have right now? I love the heavy Pacific myself i use it to run my morning freight hauls from interchange to bryson!
@@KerboOnYT i have a GP-9 as well. I recently pulled it off passenger duties to help pull the freight up the Alarka grade. Put the big ten wheeler back on passenger duties.
Perhaps the reason you were able to get 8 cars on that stub the second time around was because you had a couple 40-foot boxcars in that string? Now that you've got the entire map unlocked, are you going to cut back on the time you spend on this game?
I don't have anywhere near the whole map unlocked. It does take a lot of time to work the RR so the video frequency has slowed down. I plan to open up the entire route eventually.
Silva interchange opens immediately - can be a problem if you've just finished staging your returns at East Whittier, because they all reflag to Silva, and you have to haul them all before the morning drop. IMO unlock it after the first interchange drop of the day, you're all set to run the returns down to Silva, and there's enough time to pull a full passenger run before end of day!
Hey Kerbo, I'm not this far in the series yet but wanted to comment on a current video. Just wanted to say thanks for the content you are putting out! Great stuff man! You introduced me to railroader and now I'm hooked on it and having a blast! Long time FS and Arma player as well so I'm jumping around between all your series. I appreciate your style of a bit of roleplay mixed with what's going on with the game. Usually people are all one way or the other. I hope I catch up eventually to your current vids but its gonna take me a while lol

Good to know!

It gets pretty busy. Good luck!
You might wanna think about expanding to Sylva since the interchange there holds 70 cars
Yes, that's the plan

When you get Sylvia that loses the Whittier interchange then you have it past Sylvia longer distance.\

I really like the GP9. It's a beast and sips fuel (at least it used to)

When are you coming back to Run8?
No clue. When I have time and the mood strikes
Yes. And now you consume fuel faster
