We've flown with NORSE on many occasions in both ecomony and premium. We've had some fantastic deals which make it more than worth it. Flight home from Miami in a few months was £594 for 2 adults and 1 teenager in Premium classic. Worth it for the leg room alone!
If ever back in Perth Lee, you can sit in my back garden and watch planes all day as I am about 10mins from Airport and planes are close landing/taking off.
I can't believe how much you paid. I flew with Norse to Orlando from Gatwick in February for £250 return in economy. Granted, we did only take small rucksacks to America... and didn't waste money on too much onboard food and drink - couldn't have been happier with them! Vegas flights with Norse are quite attractive.
top tip for your point about no in flight map, if you look at google maps and scroll along the general route of your flight while on the ground, Google will cache that map data allowing you to view where you are using GPS providing you have a window seat (this works in Flight Mode because of how GPS works by your phone only having to recieve radio signals). Just hold your phone at the window for roughly 30 seconds to a minute and you should get your location. (also make sure location is on of course)
Norse Atlantic is a long haul ultra low cost (budget) airline. So of course their premium food isn’t like food in premium economy on other airlines. It’s a budget airline at the end of the day. The economy passengers get the same meal as you, but yours is included in the price
We flew on Norse Grand Canyon back in November last year Lee. Saw all the Christmas decorations and the Rockefeller Christmas Tree for my 50th in New York City. Loved every minute, was everything and more. All the best. Regards, Keith.
I watch your flying videos to literally help to ease my intense fear of flying. Plus I love watching other people travel to places I know I probably couldn’t brave myself to get too 😂
Ohhh been waiting on this vlog for 2 days. Love all your vlogs, thanks for all your hard work. I hope you manage to get some sleep at some point, with only being there for a day. I'm also a plane geek, I have the flight radar app, it's brilliant. As a child, my Dad would take me to Birmingham Airport to watch the planes. Any thanks again for all your efforts in entertaining us viewer's. Elaine
Next time you spend some time in New York, maybe you can carve out 3 days to go to St Maarten in the Caribbean. Several daily JFK flights on JetBlue and Delta. Or United from Newark. Best plane spotting in the world…you don’t have to be a beach person to love the beach by the airport. Quite a few planes to watch landing over your head and taking off nearby. Lovely! And yes, I always use Flight Radar 24. Even when I’m walking the dog at 10pm, if I see blinking lights in the sky, I’m looking to see the plane type, airline and of course where the plane is heading!
I haven't even finished the first video, let alone the second, but I flew the old Norwegian before Covid, and I can tell you your big mistake was choosing premium for the westbound and economy for the eastbound. Fly premium for the overnight flight to Europe, fly economy on the daytime flight to America.
Really good review Lee, like how you mix your content, enjoy the travel and food as much as the motoring content. So true about airplane bread rolls and so good turning left getting on a big plane
For someone who seems to spend a lot of time and money crossing the Atlantic. Why not do it in style and make the journey as much of the holiday as the destination. I'm talking about the Ocean Liner QE2 it's got to be the most luxurious way to do it
LEE if you haven't tried it you must 2 shots Baileys 1 shot of whisky with ice wow ,I was introduced to it while on holiday many moons ago and it's now my go to drink especially on Holiday, cheers, 😊
When we flew recently from Hong Kong to Auckland NZ, in Premium Economy, the seats, were leather bound, with heaps of leg room, - me being 6ft 2" and 21 stone, flight entertainment was second to non. Wifi was available, and the food was excellent. Additionally the flight attendants were excellent also. Of course all food and drink was included in the cost of the airline tickets. Best Premium Economy Flight my wife and I have ever experienced.
I just got back from a New York City trip, tonight!! Just missed you there, Lee. Weather was beautiful in the NYC area and upstate NY. Almost perfect I thought!!
You don't need to have downloaded maps to use Google Maps in-flight. I often use it on flights where there's no map service. You don’t need a wifi connection to use it either, GPS works without one. Sometimes it takes a while to pick up a satellite signal, so you just need to be a bit patient.
MacMaster! Thank you for this beautiful video and explaining your personal perceptions re. value for money. Best part of the video were the significant clips outside of the airplane (aeroplane) especially from around top of descent thru block-in (quite a weird taxi route but you made the best of it with additional airplane shots!) Your astute choice of musical footage is also appreciated and much more hand-selected than the "standard" bloggers - so - very much resonated and make up an inordinate value, if not set additional standards compared to similar bloggers of your video blog today. As far as I'm concerned you have - in every respect - earned my subscribership! That said, let's consider value for money - London is never a "cheap" origination point, including the charge to upgrade. I have traveled to Milan, Italy (one of the lowest cost hubs in Europe) on multiple occasions for around USD 250 plus taxes one-way. The trick to value is knowing what you are looking for in the first place; if it's only about cost, the upcharge to premium didn't get you what you EXPECTED on this flight and I fully understand your reasoning "a ripoff", but it's what the market is willing to bear. Using a small charter chain player out of Milan (yes, they fly the Dreamilner too), is it worth the seat upcharge to sit in the exclusive cabin section behind Premium (only 3 or 4 rows of Economy seats there, but a world of difference over "standard economy") - around USD 70 per segment - absolutely! Rarely completely sold out, although my son and I experienced a full flight this August, US-bound. This carrier's food offering in Premium (a larger upcharge, maybe close to your UKL 300 per sector) is out of this world phenomenal (not surprising, carrier is Italian), rivalling Lufthansa's Business Class transatlantic offering, minus the menu brochure! Pay extra just for the catering alone? I don't think that does the upcharge justice. What you are paying for is a bit more space, but also exclusivity, a bit more comfort, a bit more relaxation (your vids outside the airplane demonstrate that you seem to enjoy air travel!) and your vid got the comfort aspect nailed! You were smart in not allowing too much of the roar of the atmosphere from sitting by the window interfere with this vid (I use both the ear plugs and ANR headset on top to that effect - and the earplugs were provided), savvy to include a welcome and far too rare pilot's address before landing. I took Norwegian premium in the past, possibly on the same airframe you travelled on (you don't mention which individual airplane except the "Grand Canyon" name) - the seats of the successor company are the exact same ones and not mainline Business Class offerings (not lie-flat or close to), there are no sightscreens from other passengers and no menu-announced Gourmet offering. The product you purchased is mainline Economy Plus or "Premium Economy", whatever the carrier's call theirs. A mainline economy class roundtrip in Summer costs me USD 1400, I can do the Economy plus exclusive seat and checked bag for USD 1000 on a niche carrier and decide whether to go Premium on the daytime (usually Westbound so fighting headwinds or additional mileage/flight time) segment and possibly have change left over - but more importantly - a memorable, comfortable experience. Traveling with someone - you'll likely remember THAT trip as a bargain and comfort. Now go a step further and try Business Class restricted mainline (usually means 'no lounge' visit) and compare those to one of the not so well known brands - you showed one of them parked at Terminal Seven in JFK - the "blue and white bath towel" - brand new A330-900 (neo) to/from Frankfurt, Germany. Then try one company to Paris (Orly, if I'm not mistaken) and so on. Top off your experience on Emirates to Milan (must be the A380) or Singapore to Frankfurt (also suggest the A380) and "invest" in the Lounge visit (EK lounge in Milan more than USD 100 but makes the transition much more comfortable)... Again, Great Job! Thank you, Chris from Connecticut
Loved the Financial Times comment - we call it the "Sainsbury Syndrome" locally because you see so many regular shoppers in Tesco, Morrisons and even Lidl who turn up armed with multiple Sainsbury bags (and occasional Waitrose ones, but those people are already in therapy, allegedly). I went into Sainsbury's and, needing a bag, purchased one of those with the elephant image, but my daughter will disown me if I ever try to use it again. Having said that, our local Sainsbury does the most amazing jam doughnuts (and I generally use a Tesco "Minions" bag - so I am probably eligible to join the queue for therapy as well - though, on second thoughts, I am a pensioner and am already on the schedule to be dead before the next pension increase is due, so the therapy is no longer cost-effective).
Bloc Hotel is amazing to stay at, I stayed their a few times, can get rooms with airport views and as you pointed out, really close to departures. Always like looks at the flightradar24 myself, do like picking destinations, but mainly I like to get the registrations of the planes to keep a list.
I don't fly much these days but from what I've heard from others, premium economy is just economy with a better seat and a bit more space, it's the same service otherwise. Considering what an ordeal economy can be these days, especially on the longer flights, I can well understand some being happy to spend the extra.
@Ben-oo6rl Tim's channel has changed so much. I subscribed in its very early days, when it was all about walks around coastal towns. I even booked a holiday to Norfolk and Suffolk because of his channel! But now it's mainly him spending his TH-cam earnings staying in fancy hotels, with the occasional family holiday or walk around Great Yarmouth thrown in. I only watch his vlogs occasionally these days.
Interesting flight review . You didn’t seem to get a lot for nearly double the Y class fare . All of my recent long haul flights on different airlines I’ve always had the live route map and various camera views to watch in Y class .😃👍
We love that app. On nice summer nights, we like to sit outside and see where the planes are going. We went to Marston Green in Birmingham this summer to watch all the planes come in and out. Our youngest wasn't too keen, but out 11 year old loved it ❤ x
Norse Atlantic is a low cost carrier and the price you paid was way cheaper than BA business or JetBlue Mint. Haven’t seen your return flight video but I bet $100 that you will learn what the value was in paying for premium on this flight.
Nice flight vlog Lee. I remember Walk With Me Tim in that block hotel. Can’t say I’ve ever heard of Norse they must be new. Agree with you about Jet Blue they are superb. Cannot never understand why anyone buys duty free anymore. Most of the time it’s cheaper off the internet.
With that fantastic sales pitch for Surf Shark Lee; if you're ever short of work, am sure one of those TV shopping channels would snap you up; but then again, they wouldn't help you to get you to New York like they havel! 😊
Back when as a medic you were allowed to accept freebies from pharma .... Got a free flight from Glasgow to Gothenburg and wow my only flight on a turbo prop was amazing
Hi Lee. Are you able to add chapter markers so we can skip the paddling? On this video for example we only need to see your seat and food, and the price of the ticket. This would be useful.
Hi Lee,great video as always. I suppose for extra leg room, complimentary drinks&well behaved passengers plus watch movies guess worth paying the extra especially after what happened on last plane trip from Las Vegas food looked edible main thing got New York safely👍
We recently flew Virgin on the new A350-1000, Heathrow to Orlando and only paid an extra £500 on top of the ticket price for Premium seats, return flight, and this was in the August kiddy weeks. Well worth it! ✈️
Good deal. TBH premium Y can vary in price a lot depending on how busy the flight is and how far ahead you book. Last minute upgrade offers *can* be good value.
Good day Lee! Glad you like them, they frankly scare me. I did not care for the experience, reminded me too much of a transit bus. Loved a two seater! That reminded me of a sports car, thoroughly enjoyable. Aside from leg room, not much to recommend the cost. The food appeared a step above hospital food, certainly not premium.
Didn’t look the best to be honest for what you paid. I only travel British airways and love them but I know everybody has their own opinion. Can’t believe you got through customs so quick we were there for two hours in February. Looking forward to the journey home video.
I used to fly BA all the time in the past. But I stopped, because I had to fly to England first. Now, I just hop on a train to the Netherlands and fly KLM out of Amsterdam.
Worth looking at the comparisons of other airlines for the same journey at the same dates but got to say definitely better than some of the airlines to Tenerife 😂😂 take care and thank you for exploring these different airlines 👍
Mac flying long haul always try or pay for an upgrade .Get a better seat and a bed you’re not arriving tired it’s worth the extra money is worth an extra day of your holiday .
Considering I had a travel business for 25 years I hate the travelling just like the arrival at the destination for me and the experience before the dreaded flight back
Great shots from the plane and of the other planes tbe food looked good but like you say does that a little leg room and a few drinks is make up for the price increase of that amount def need to see the economy now 🤔
Why do people keep their cap on inside a plane or restaurant. It is like the twits that have sunglasses on inside or at night. No it is not fashionable.
As a young ish female with partial hair loss due to a medical condition I would keep my cap on because it's mortifying without. I wouldn't want to be disrespectful to anyone but needs must.
Remind Martin he shall from now on be called the “Beige Fox”and show him the old photos you shared with us.👍for a couple of hundred quid I would take the extra space and legroom every time.😃
Not sure that flight out was worth the extra cost however leg room and seat looked good in comparison to economy, it will be interesting to see the return trip. Think I'd sooner go with BA
I must say in all my years of flying I've never heard a pilot with such a pronounced Southern accent and keeps saying errmm, they normally have quite a posh voice and speak fluently with precise and clear information and instructions.

I remember when it was called Elmdon before it was expanded you could watch the planes from the airport lounge, when I flew to Spain in 1975.
Thanks Lee, enjoyed the video 😊

I agree but Lee doesn't like sailing.
Possibly like me he gets sea sick. Not sure.
Love your flight/airport vids Lee!
Nice video I like the different planes u fly on,keep up the good work
Love your plane videos Lee.
Love the Dreamliner's they has a shallower take off pitch.
High Lee my mates used to call me Alan Wicker, think that should be your new nickname name lol.❤
Excellent vlog Lee. Always particularly enjoy the flight ones. Great work thanks Lee.🍺😂❤
You are paying for the space Lee. For me worth every penny.
LEE if you haven't tried it you must 2 shots Baileys 1 shot of whisky with ice wow ,I was introduced to it while on holiday many moons ago and it's now my go to drink especially on Holiday, cheers, 😊
My pet hate .people reclining especially when you are eating 🤒
Great fun with the flight radar app 👍

More planes need the option to be able to order food through the screen! Makes life so much easier!

You should do a video with Walk With Me Tim

He could fly round the world 80 times with the amount he has wasted on that car. 🤣 taycan the Pi55 🤣🤣
Interesting flight review . You didn’t seem to get a lot for nearly double the Y class fare .
All of my recent long haul flights on different airlines I’ve always had the live route map and various camera views to watch in Y class .😃👍
the plane looked good, thats about it really, average food, no map, no drunks, such fun
We love that app. On nice summer nights, we like to sit outside and see where the planes are going. We went to Marston Green in Birmingham this summer to watch all the planes come in and out. Our youngest wasn't too keen, but out 11 year old loved it ❤ x
The "Chips" bikes had an air suspension that the Guy who sold me a Harley in 2004 said made all the difference his Reg V2COP
Have a wonderful time in NYC!!
He's coming straight back!!!
This is your captain speaking holding his nose, I would love to do that.
Lee whats the music you have on the video i would love listen to that when on farming sim 😊 love your videos ❤
Love the travel vids Lee👍🏻👍🏻
Even manged to get Gatwick's longest resident aircraft (MD80 I-DAVA ex Itali Airlines) just before takeoff impounded back in 2010.

Great pictures from the plane Lee 🙂👍
Well Lee, i enjoyed the Norse flight over, the meals looked nice to me, and your leg room looked sufficient. Take care in the Big apple 🤔 Au
Meals were served in plastic containers. Nothing premium about this!
Back when as a medic you were allowed to accept freebies from pharma .... Got a free flight from Glasgow to Gothenburg and wow my only flight on a turbo prop was amazing
Love your cheerful attitude, f@&k the haters, keep your content coming. I always get a laugh from your vlogs 😂😂🏴
Love these travel vlogs...This one didn't disappoint.
If I had one whinge it would be the background music is a bit depressing...Great vlog though 👍👍👍
Hi Lee. Are you able to add chapter markers so we can skip the paddling?
On this video for example we only need to see your seat and food, and the price of the ticket.
This would be useful.
18:40 Man, LGW has certainly changed this my last trip through there in ‘98’,
Good job Macmaster ❤
Hi Lee,great video as always.
I suppose for extra leg room, complimentary drinks&well behaved passengers plus watch movies guess worth paying the extra especially after what happened on last plane trip from Las Vegas food looked edible main thing got New York safely👍
Good vid 👍Nice climb out over our green and becoming unpleasant land. Thanks toolmakers son.
The passenger in front of you never raised their seat for landing. Both the flight attendant and you should have reminded him.
The macmaster should definitely check out the schmee ev video about depreciation 😮.
We recently flew Virgin on the new A350-1000, Heathrow to Orlando and only paid an extra £500 on top of the ticket price for Premium seats, return flight, and this was in the August kiddy weeks. Well worth it! ✈️

I had a work colleague brought in a Financial Times one day, hillarious.
Didn’t look the best to be honest for what you paid. I only travel British airways and love them but I know everybody has their own opinion. Can’t believe you got through customs so quick we were there for two hours in February. Looking forward to the journey home video.
I'm going to update my Global Entry so I can skip customs.
I used to fly BA all the time in the past. But I stopped, because I had to fly to England first. Now, I just hop on a train to the Netherlands and fly KLM out of Amsterdam.
Nice to see the Mitchell Bros sitting in front of you !!!!.Food review if you like Baileys then not taken this seriously
Worth looking at the comparisons of other airlines for the same journey at the same dates but got to say definitely better than some of the airlines to Tenerife 😂😂 take care and thank you for exploring these different airlines 👍
You're flying to NYC ,been to Grand Canyon Deano stuck in Huddersfield with £5 ready meal lol
Mac flying long haul always try or pay for an upgrade .Get a better seat and a bed you’re not arriving tired it’s worth the extra money is worth an extra day of your holiday .
Considering I had a travel business for 25 years I hate the travelling just like the arrival at the destination for me and the experience before the dreaded flight back
Seems like a budget airline with a bit more space. Perfect for me, I hate being in close proximity to people 😂
Very informative, culinary and transportation wise.
Can we see you use a traditional TAXI Lee?,for a change,as it’s interesting to the viewer I hope.
Great One Lee
Glad you landed safely have a good un 👍🏻
Great shots from the plane and of the other planes tbe food looked good but like you say does that a little leg room and a few drinks is make up for the price increase of that amount def need to see the economy now 🤔
Interesting video Lee I don’t know why you didn’t use google maps if it worked on board 👍👍
I'd need to download the maps first before take off.
Why do people keep their cap on inside a plane or restaurant. It is like the twits that have sunglasses on inside or at night. No it is not fashionable.
@allanlawrence3456, yep …… it seems like all manners have been determined to be unnecessary!! Let's bring manners back!! 🤷🏼♂️ 🤔
As a young ish female with partial hair loss due to a medical condition I would keep my cap on because it's mortifying without. I wouldn't want to be disrespectful to anyone but needs must.
I never follow rules or do what I'm supposed to.
Why do some people feel the need to dictate what others must do just out of interest how does someone wearing a cap on an aeroplane effect your life?
Do we have to see the silver fox?
Can always tell a Boeing by the windshield glazings as they kept it the same from the 707 days., well until the Dreamliner anyway.
Aaaah... Mr Samsonite. Nice to see you again.🙃
Remind Martin he shall from now on be called the “Beige Fox”and show him the old photos you shared with us.👍for a couple of hundred quid I would take the extra space and legroom every time.😃
Lee, you flew over my house in the Hamptons, I was waving.
Hamptons!!!! What!!! Where's my invite. 😂
@@TheMacMaster I was trying to wave you down.
Hi Lee, I can hardly wait to get real British Fish and chips Next year.
Please revisit Katz and/or Old Homestead!
Not sure that flight out was worth the extra cost however leg room and seat looked good in comparison to economy, it will be interesting to see the return trip.
Think I'd sooner go with BA
MISTER MACMASTER!,looks like the extra costs just ain't worth it Lee, be interesting to dre the comparison on the upcoming vlog 🎉
Im watching the outbound flight and the meal review... you look a bit bladdered 😂
Looked like a nice trip across, premium economy, the food I think could have been a little better
I must say in all my years of flying I've never heard a pilot with such a pronounced Southern accent and keeps saying errmm, they normally have quite a posh voice and speak fluently with precise and clear information and instructions.
Always on the move! ✈️
Next time go to Florida instead of NY.
We travelled on the Dreamliner 👍Lovely Aircraft I am 6 foot 4ins plenty of leg room 👍👍Not sure when people put seat back 😡
You’re putting in more air miles than Alan Whicker ever did! Looking forward to seeing NYC again. Hmmm…I wonder where you’ll be going?
Love the song (oceans)
Nice One Lee.
I would of put my chicken in my roll 😂
Thank you for your video and enjoy your time in 🇺🇸💯👍
