I never got to see Joey, when I got to see pat martino Joey wasn’t available so his replacement who was almost as impressive was there. Joey was a musical genius.
RIP to Joey 💜 I remember finding him for the first time back in high school and totally falling in love with it. I was pleasantly surprised and super enjoyed the instance he was a guest artist at my high school. RIP to this soulful legend!!!
Amongst the greatest of the B3 Players who all come from my area Of Philadelphia,Pa, And the Giant who started the sound of the B3. ,Jimmy Smith from my hometown of Norristown,Pa,.!! R.I.P Joey!,
Thank you, Joey DeFrancesco for doing your part to help tame mankind with your gift and talent. May GOD bless your legacy and surviving family. In the meantime, I'll keep the music playing.
R.I.P. Mr. Joey DeFrancesco. This video is how I discovered you. I wish I had gotten to be able to see you play and tell you how much your organ playing has impacted my love of the Hammond B3. You are the best.
Sitting here tonight having a glass of wine (bottle or 2 or 3) with the wife. Listening to old classics. Then comes joey. God damn i miss this man so much. We will remember you forever joey d, simply the best! RIP JOEY WE LOVE YOU!
How great musicians play! Delicious, skillfully! The mood is transmitted from the first note of the legendary Hammond. Jazz is a high culture that America gave to the whole world. BRAVO!!!
I always just think people dislike videos for no reason, nothing really to do with them actually disliking the video. Because really, how can you dislike this?
I came from the opposite direction. Somebody recommended this video and he mentioned that Larry Carlton was in it. I said, "Larry Carlton? I'm there!" I had never heard of Joey DeFrancesco before. Wow. Well, it's been said that most great discoveries are by accident. So it is true for me.
You guys swing. Such an old standard yet lt sounds like a new tune. Joey D. I love him on the B3. Larry C. There are none better on Guitar. Jerold Beasley, Chris Far and Landroum on the drums . I love all you guys!
This may be the best-feeling thing you see all day. Joey even hits one of the "Groove" Holmes nasty/tasty minor seconds @4:53 during his solo. I love seeing the joy on everyone's faces as they feel the groove and time.
OMG, I too did not know Joey D had passed. This is such a great jam, with three of my all-time favorite musicians. Thanks Mr. DeFrancesco for a wonderful body of work, and for this fun and 'cool' performance. Makes these shows truly special memorials.
There goes Larry playing REAL Jazz again. It's funny. His critics looked at his solo career and they claimed, "although his music is complicated, he's not a real jazz guitarist," but when Larry wants to do it, he can play the most complicated REAL Jazz in the world. The man is a genius.
The joy of the whole ensemble when playing is so contagious, you just want to be part of it. RIP Mr. Joey DeFrancesco, an immensely talented and sensational artist, his great body of work will keep his legacy alive. Thank you for posting
I love it! Smooth and soulful playing by all! First time I have seen Joey with a bass guitarist. The bass player had such a smooth, deep sound I thought it was Joey playing bass on the organ. Larry Carlton has tone and taste to eternity... always seems to hit the perfect note and chords at just the right time. These studio jams always make my day. I am ready to grab my guitar and practice.
You can only heap more superlatives on superlatives to demonstrate one's appreciation for all this talent and for the commitment to keep the standards/classics alive, well and infused with contemporary sounds, nuances, and musical zeal. Just fantastic array of players....but Joey, Larry et al. Thank you, gentlemen, for sharing your gifts.
Joey D was the first person I ever saw on SJ one late night after class. I fell in love with jazz, which I hadn't liked previously. It was definitely an acquired taste for me, but I soon learned why it's the one of the best genres out there. It's so underrated and underappreciated. I miss Studio Jams.
All is grate from Joey his base take me to another level all together,Like it I wish to hear him playing take 5.Keep up the note we enjoy his music with my crew in SA.
...a fantastic performance of a great song! Simply brings goosebumps to me. I hope I can find it on CD. I became an instant fan of Joey when I saw him on tour with Bruce Sanborn. What a treat!
I can never understand why Pat Martino and Larry Carlton didn't do an album together, and/or play a live show. Their styles would have went well together.
RIP Joey. Now he's playing in heaven with all the greats!
Did you put everywhere where JD played?
@@6strings5904 No... But all the videos i have watched so many times...

@@KelvinKing Sadly, yes.
Rip Joey D. This video was always so special to me and I always come back to watch it when I need to be inspired.

Absolutely amazing one of the best arrangements of any song I have ever heard
RIP to Joey 💜

Chris Farr is the man!
RIP. I had the privilege of getting to know Joey DeFrancesco on a personal level

RIP Joey D. World lost a monster today, and far too young!
Joey blew all others away on jazz keys. He was my favorite keyboardist and he really was underrated in so many ways. His phrasing is unmatched.
I come back to this video at least once every 6 months.
this is my favourite Jam recording ever i think
What a great sounding group! Joey is always fantastic!! We lost him way to soon!!
We organist are becoming an endangered species 😢 Great version of “Misty” 🎉🎉🎉
Wow, awesome to see both Joey DeFrancisco and Larry Carlton playing together. Amazing
I dont understand the dudes who gave thumb-downs for this gorgeous performance. JOEY-D is one of the best organists forever.
probably because there's no fuzz box or distortion on Larrys Guitar
Gao Marcus They don't like it 'cause it doesn't DGENT.
The 'dudes' just don't 'get it' so they're programmed on the negative side eh chums?!!
I always just think people dislike videos for no reason, nothing really to do with them actually disliking the video. Because really, how can you dislike this?
Fantastic
I click on to see Joey but having Larry Carlton on guitar is icing on the cake.

That shuffle is so meaty is could feed an army. Killer stuff.
Applause to Byron Landham, Joey DeFransesco’s drummer. A Great musician.

The saxophonist is a beast. Great lines. Also the keyboardist is soooo cool. Great job 😁
This song swings, makes you sing, dance and pat your feet. The thumbs down folks don't know how to swing!
That's how good music is supposed to be.

Even considering all the beautiful versions if this song, this is my favourite. Thank you guys for this bliss.
This is one of my favourite things ever. And what you've done bringing these wonderful musicians together.
Great bass player! Best I've ever heard in an jazz organ context! Perfect sound and excactly right amount of legato *and* articulation.
Exactly! Sounds like something a hammond left-hand would do in this song... but with a string sound. :D
yeah!so right
Totally!
I want foot bass!

First time i've ever heard Joey use a bass player. But LORD this guy is GREAT. ! ! Sounds just like B3 pedals; AMAZING ! ! !
Great guys! I love (musically speaking) Larry Carlton.

It was a pleasure to meet him and cook for him at my house. Great JoeY
God Almighty that was just wonderful… thank you
Man, Joey does more with one hand than most organists do with everything!
less is more
Ha, ha..True enough... it's as though he keeps his left hand in reserve for when he needs to do something do something really spectacular
Top class, it won't get better than this. ☝🏻
Simply the best! All group makes the organ fly, and what an organ player!!
All the musicians are excellent. Lord have mercy!

Larry Carlton with Joey D... What a dream...! We can feel too that the other musicians, including Chris Farr on tenor-sax, get along very well...

Brings back memories of my Dad & Jimmy SMITH Kenny Burrell, Joey Go Thank You for the Memories. HAMMOND ORGAN
Misty swung in this kind of shuffle is naughty and I’m here for it
theres just something about hammond b3's that really makes me happy
Yea because the B3 is an orchestra in expression along with a singer when you flip on the Leslie tremelo.
Smiling bunch of smoking musicians.....in the groove......R.I.P. Joey
Your going to be missed ....
Great energy, classic swing rhythm great job guys.
I'm a fan of Joey D. to me, he's the heir to throne of Jimmy Smith on the B-3 Hammond organ. thanks Joey for keeping the Hammond organ alive.
