Ana, I came across your video while reflecting on the recent loss of my dear uncle and this book brought me back to when I was 14 when first read it. After seeing your video I decided to get a couple of copies of this book and give it to my nieces at Thanksgiving in hopes that they too find in its words of wisdom that internal peace i once found in it and agree with you it's a book of life to reference and help us reflect thought out our lives

I first read The Prophet a year and a half ago on a drunken night. I cried, like ugly cried, because of how beautiful that book was after every part. The Prophet changed my perspective on many things and arguably my life. Love this book so much.

Dear Ana, much appreciated the timely reminder of the interdependence of joy and sorrow, as it’s right now something I can benefit by reflecting upon. And as I face farewelling work and facing uncertain health from a degenerative condition, so many parts of the chapters spring to mind , yet the lifelong one , for me is about giving and receiving. Kahlil’s poetic wording invites and challenges me to remain open to both, as yonder field does. I have lived a life around service to others and still there are daily challenges and changes now to what I can manage, and this in turn can invoke fear control and a lack of ‘flow’. So Ana, as I meandered aroundTH-cam, finding your generous post, I thank you for your gift and receive wisdom shared. In peace, bruce

Awww...This was great. My middle name is actually Gibran, after my father's favorite author. My relationship with my father is a little rocky, so for the longest time I never inquired much into the meaning of my middle name, nor did I know how to pronounce it haha. When I graduated highschool he gave me this book, but at the time I never took it seriously. I held onto the book the whole time and your video just sparked my interest in it again. Thank you! An outstanding book is this.
I love the part which explain about beauty And a poet said, Speak to us of Beauty.
    And he answered:
Where shall you seek beauty, and how
shall you find her unless she herself be your
    way and your guide?
And how shall you speak of her except
she be the weaver of your speech?
The aggrieved and the injured say,
    “Beauty is kind and gentle.
Like a young mother half-shy of her
own glory she walks among us.”
And the passionate say, “Nay, beauty is
a thing of might and dread.
Like the tempest she shakes the earth
beneath us and the sky above us.”
The tired and the weary say, “Beauty is
of soft whisperings. She speaks in our spirit.
Her voice yields to our silences like a faint
light that quivers in fear of the shadow.”
But the restless say, “We have heard her
    shouting among the mountains,
And with her cries came the sound of
hoofs, and the beating of wings and
    the roaring of lions.”
At night the watchmen of the city say,
“Beauty shall rise with the dawn from the
    east.”
And at noontide the toilers and the way-
farers say, “We have seen her leaning over
the earth from the windows of the sunset.”
In winter say the snow-bound, “She shall
come with the spring leaping upon the hills.”
And in the summer heat the reapers say,
“We have seen her dancing with the autumn
leaves, and we saw a drift of snow in her
    hair.”
All these things have you said of beauty,
Yet in truth you spoke not of her but of
    needs unsatisfied,
And beauty is not a need but an ecstasy.
It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty
    hand stretched forth,
But rather a heart enflamed and a soul en-
    chanted.
It is not the image you would see nor the
    song you would hear,
But rather an image you see though you
close your eyes and a song you hear though
    you shut your ears.
It is not the sap within the furrowed bark,
nor a wing attached to a claw,
But rather a garden for ever in bloom and
a flock of angels for ever in flight.
People of Orphalese, beauty is life when
    life unveils her holy face.
But you are life and you are the veil.
Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mir-
    ror.
But you are eternity and you are the mir-
    ror.

I have actually read The Prophet about three times. I am currently leading a book reading / discussion group. Each of those readings reading have provided insight and a shift in thinking about one of his topics. One of my favorites is on clothes.
"And though you seek in garments the freedom of privacy you may find in them a harness and a chain." I see this as the burden of vanity especially when we purchase more clothing than we need and are always trying to keep on top of fashions & trends.
Next is the line that goes, "Forget not that modesty is for a shield against the eye of the unclean." Many a girl has been blamed that she was attacked because she was not dressed modestly. That is a sad excuse of the perpetrator who is unable to control himself.
And lastly, "Would that you could meet the sun and the wind with more of your skin and less of your raiment, For the breath of life is in the sunlight and the hand of life is in the wind." There is nothing better than the feeling of sun and wind on your skin and in your face.

Loop-"📝Want to send greetings of sentiments that reside in my sights along this heart we share unto love for without sight can we read the timeless words of love to contain beauty as memories while living it and leaving some along the way to be shared & admired to fulfil loves promise of forever and a day as hearts know different shades of hue to be reflections
as"...."📜🖋️Kahlil Gibran's the Prophet,....Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
    Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.
When you love you should not say, “God is in my heart,” but rather, “I am in the heart of God.”
And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.
Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself."

    Great Reflection.. Thanks.. :)
I also read this book recently.
BTW I have a question out of my curiosity, why the booktubers get less views on their videos even though the videos contain timeless lessons simplified ?
I would appreciate the answers by anyone.
    Thank You. :)

I guess that nowadays most people prefer passive Netflix-like-watching vs flexing their inner world with a book. Therefore booktubers' public is smaller...

@@sajalvats2352 I don't think that's up to us to tell people what to do or what's best... Perhaps our role is to share the tools for people to think critically about life and from there I believe they should find their own answers and make conscious choices.

Looking forward to more of u through the videos.. 😊🌻

Hi Ana, I am of the opinion that he was NOT sailing...but he was about to face death. His ship was the arrival of death. Back to his "homeland", is in fact back to God....where is soul will return. Can your viewers please comment.

I thought the same Nom. It was the impression I had while reading about sailing. I also thought his return would be the teaching of the message that was invoked within them.
