I just checked the playlist for their "Making It" series made back in 2019. I lt got updated 2 days ago, that means SC Lannom, Herman, and maybe even Marvin are going to come back! 😊 🤗
Such graphic anti-smoking ads have been around for a very long time as well as such things as drivers safety films showing mangled corpses. Scare tactics do not work in the long run. People are going to justify and do what they want. Not everyone who smokes is going to get cancer. Not everyone who drives crazy is going to get mangled. Not everyone who drinks is going to be a hopeless alcoholic. Not everyone who uses drugs is going to be an addict... etc.... In fact, why not even extend this into race stereotypes? The logic does not follow.
Kudos to the editor and writer for referencing Ken Loach's movies. I highly recommend "Sorry, we missed you" and "I, Daniel Blake" movies for those who haven't watched them.

@@patrickmurray9359 Can you not be pedantic, please? Boil down the essence of authority to its base fundamentals and it comes down to who is speaking and why you should you care. they are using such a great movies as an example that I can’t just concentrate on the videos message and I find myself rewatching this multiple times just to get the point 😄
The triangle is good for persuasion or manipulation. However, it should never be used when the purpose is truth as Ethos and Pathos basically are the “appeal to authority” and “appeal to emotion” fallacy. An argument for truth should supercharge Logos and listeners should supercharge their ability of interpretation in order to accurately evaluate the quality of Logos presented. As an example, people should be aware that a low quality democracy values Ethos and Pathos more than Logos, while a higher quality democracy values Logos more. The world usually moves in historical shifts, tides between the two sides. In times with a lot of turmoil the emphasis is on false Ethos and strong Pathos, while times of growth favors Logos. The best equation for society as a whole is honest Ethos and strong Logos. Pathos should rather be applied to consequence analysis rather than persuasion.
Was hoping to see the triangle of Kirk, Spock, & McCoy as representations of all three. Alas! But a great video really breaking it all down. Thank you!
One thing I can certainly say about movies, is when I'm watching one I feel betrayed when the writer/director/producers makes me think I'm going to be seeing something that interests me, only to find out I've been duped when it's really just a thinly veiled attempt at slipping something sociopolitical into it. The writer didn't fully understand the first two subdivisions. The narrator kept referring to Logas as “Pathos” and the editor failed to give a header to Logos.
