Fr. Mike discusses the story of Jeremiah and the Ark of the Covenant, offering insight on where it was hidden and how that affected the people of God. He also looks ahead to the rest of 2 Maccabees and poses a question for all of us: What will the people who love us remember about us? Today’s readings are 2 Maccabees 2, Sirach 42-44, and Proverbs 24:8-9.

Father Mike, your reflection on Sirach 40:1-4 about Death is excellent. I needed to hear it from you. Just perfect timing. Since February 2021 to present, 2 dear cousins, 1 Uncle, and 2 best friends of mine died unexpectedly, not COVID related and they are all young, between 54-72 years young. You made me realize that every day of my life is a gift and that my life is given to me by our Lord God. My life is never mine. Thank you, Father Mike. You truly are God sent. I am blessed. I have to admit the passage that read" better is the wickedness of a man than a woman who is good..." He usually touches on those sort of passages and makes it all better.
That same line really jumped out at me

I'm way behind and getting caught up. I agree with these people. This reading from Sirach has derailed me. I feel I can't go any further in the bible until I hear something that can explain it. It read like a case for feminism.
If you notice in the Book of Sirach, he makes numerous hyperbolic statements.
“It is better to die than to beg.” for example.
The message here is to understand the gravity of sin.
You can notice in other passages of Sirach, he states the good of having women in your life.
So, is he double talking? No. He is using a facetious example to help us understand something.

The mention of "Who will remember us" I felt that.
I've no children of my own, but I have plenty of Niece's and Nephew's and great nieces and great nephews. But I don't believe their children will remember me. My great great nieces and nephews.
My Grandma wrote me a letter, naming all of her children and about my Grandpa who I never got to meet. He died before I was born. Grandma sent me a whole list of geaniology.
I've seen a few pictures but that's all. I believe the same will happen to me and that's okay. I will be a name on someone's lips, maybe. I want to be in Heaven by then, God Willing.

According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory:
