Ballerinas 'En Pointe' Set World Record

- Ballerinas from around the world gathered inside the Terrace Room at the famous Plaza Hotel in New York City. The 500 dancers donned pink leotards and practice tutus to see if this company could relevé into setting a new record for the most dancers en pointe for an entire minute at the same time. Going en pointe is a technique where a dancer balances on their toes in specially designed shoes. These youth dancers broke a record set in 2019.

As a ballet dancer that has had my feet in many pointe shoes (still dancing on pointe) this makes me so happy. These young dancers from all over were able to set a new world record by doing what they love which makes me love my art even more.

Wow this is amazing! I did ballet as a kid from 5-7 but I struggled to keep up so after a while I switched to music. I played piano from 8-15 but at 16 I switched to guitar (mainly electric but occasionally acoustic) because I realised it was better suited to me and I’ve been playing guitar ever since (I’m 20 now). From ballet kid to piano preteen to rocker teen/young adult.

I’m surprised. You should look at how the shoes can affect their feet in the long-run.
Can you stand on the very tips of your toes for long periods of time without special shoes?
@@quesadilla9957it’s not the shoes, it’s the dancing.
as a ballerina you need them to do it safely but technically some dancers with enough strength can stand en pointe in sneakers or smth, although it isnt advised bc thats the quickest way to get an injury.
also the 'special' shoes don't make it any easier bc your toes still make contact with the bottom of the shoe, the box just supports the foot so that your dancing is more stablized and safe. most ppl w/o training can barely even stand in demi pointe in the pointe shoes without falling.

If they wanted to beat it again they could include boys,girls,professionals dancers all in one on point shoes but outside in a single city from every ballet school & ballet company in existence. Which would mean it would take even longer time to break the world record.
