Really digging the Valiant aesthetic theme. It's amazing what kind of variety you can get with these WADs, not even considering mods. I honestly can't think of any game from the early 90s that's still as popular as Doom is.

Is the map name a pun on Bain Capital? A private investment firm best known for one of its founders, Mitt Romney, aka the guy who ran against Obama in 2012. Honestly if it is, props to them, because there's almost nothing as hellish as private equity firms and the rest of the global finance market.
Fun fact: the Doom level "Knee Deep in the Dead" was designed singlehandedly by one employee at ID software who had created the level as a surreal visual representation of the period in their life where they managed high-risk hedge funds and mutual funds at one of the most prominent corporations on Wall Street. The "dead" the map's title mentions actually refers to the clients that the artist had while working there, a great many of which unfortunately took their own lives after losing investments of their life's savings. The artist notes that it was there he learned how to diversify a portfolio.... and now, he aims to diversify, again, this time with a diverse portfolio of ballistic weapons!

It's the very first episode in Doom, consisting of 8 levels and 1 secret level. These level were worked on by a few different designers include John Romero, Tom Hall, and Sandy Peterson. Most of the levels were made by Romero alone and a couple had some help from the other two guys.

I stopped watching your hell revealed post mortem video to watch this one. Even though your videos were amazing then already, its great to see your growth on making these videos, mainly with sounding more comfortable doing the commentary, keep it up!
Glad you embraced the careless gameplay style, that's pretty much what the intent was. "Easy despite nearly dying on multiple occasions" because losing health is just a natural part of life and there's always a medkit or a sphere nearby. SuperCG will still be the default weapon for entering unknown areas, but yeah, as soon as you know what you're tackling, switch to higher DPS.
Blind runs are the best runs. The WAD seems to be quite fair with its traps so far - hope this stays the case because the tension is real. That near-death encounter with the Arch-Vile is what makes these so great to watch.

Like Sunlust, this also had a follow-up wad with outtake maps, called "Sawdust". It included a version of this one called "Bane Rises". So I'm going to say what I always say when Bane comes anywhere near Doom. "You're a big guy... that means you have huge guts!"
I am watching your Plutonia play through right now. I used to hate that wad, but you have inspired me. I have gotten a lot better at Doom, pistol start is the only way, it makes the experience so much more rewarding and strategic at times. I made a SBARINFO mod for GZDoom so that its a fullscreen HUD, but still with doomguy's face, the big numbers etc and I removed the background image. The default GZDoom fullscreen HUD is too basic for my taste and no doomguy face. Same for the fullscreen HUD of prboom. The prboom one I also find it hard to read the HP and Armor from it in a fight even by watching decino.
Would love to see you do another Slaughtermap... your okuplok blind run was by far the best doom content I’ve watched in a long time... May I recommend “Death in Excess”
Remember when I mentioned farts? The name of the tune that plays here is just that, "Flatulence Protocol". Stay classy, Jimmy 😆 Anyways, Bane Capitol. Unlike most of the maps so far, it's compact but with plenty of vertical play. Kinda stingy with armor, though, and that final ambush gave me trouble in the past before I committed to using the Super Chaingun in a suppressive role. 9:43 You really should. The Super Chaingun is extraordinarily satisfying to fire and stunlocks like no other, but against Archies it's absoluty not a guarantee of safety, and its DPS is deceptively low. After all, the per-bullet damage is unchanged. It's best kept for crushing mobs of weak enemies and suppressing tougher ones that aren't the zappy bois while you run from one spot of the room to another. The old claims of "This is OP!" hold no ground at all by this point. 12:39 I told you their melee DPS is nasty! 😨 In terms of melee, they outclass every regular enemy, and make bone broth of Revenants like you wouldn't believe. Next map. Ooooo, the next map. That one is the map that introduced me to Valiant, and to this day it's my absolute favourite in the whole wide wad.
The Brrr-gun isn‘t overpowered at all in Valiant. It is absolutely necessary to keep the player on the same level as the monsters. I think one can draw parallels to Doom II, where the SSG is introduced to help deal with the new enemy line-up.

Hell, I find myself using the Rocket Launcher and SSG more generally than I use the Chaingun. I like that it's up to par with the more potent guns, but not a cut above them. Anyway, the whining I meant was back in No Rush and Tiers Of Pain, back when the ninnies hadn't seen so much as an arachnorb.
The more of these custom wads I watch, the more I see where Project Brutality got its array of unique enemies. The cyber-baron from Eviternity, the Pyro-Knight, gray imp and detaching arachnotron from Valiant. I'm curious to see more.

First time those gunners shredded me in a blink of an eye. Cacos at starting point was another unpleasant surprise when I tried to camp in that niche. Point of camping was to take out as many enemies as possible before engaging in maneuvers with arachnotrons, imps and revenants.
I'm willing to bet that, everytime a mancubus doesn't die in 3 rockets or a revenant survives 2 super shotgun blasts, decino (and probably every other doom player) die a little inside. In this run there were quite a few of those too.
I know I do. Revenants not so much because they can only survive if I flub my shots, but Mancubi not dying to 3 direct rockets or perfect meatshots? Infuriating. So I pull out the pump shotgun and finish them off.

This map reminds me of one of the Hell Revealed (2?) maps. A lot of buildings, almost judicial in nature. I forgot which but it's giving me deja vu.
