  • Let's take a game room tour of games that aren't leaving the shelf anytime soon. These are backlog games unlikely to be played or leave the backlog in 2024. Sometimes handling the video game backlog means knowing when not to play a game. And these games range from needing specific consoles, or consoles i dislike playing, or playing the first game first among other reasons.
    Intro music
"Your Mine" - Carpenter Brut (Furi Original soundtrack)
    Special thank you to

Eternal Poison! Very interesting game, very moody. It has some cool ideas--that's actually the title I pulled the ranged damage fall-off mechanic from for Telepath Tactics Liberated and Together in Battle. Unfortunately, the later-game fights can really turn into an awful slog; I never did manage to finish it before my PS2's laser succumbed to its own "eternal poison."

Rule I’ve adopted is beat a game buy a game. Patience has rewarded me with deals and no longer feeling the fomo of buying first day cuz “I have to play” the brand new thing.

I played Blue Stinger at a party with some friends and we were absolutely wasted and the game was the funniest thing I've ever played in my god damn life. Not as much fun sober!

You NEED to play AC Unity! I'm no huge AC fan but recently picked this game up. The level of detail of the world and animations is on another level (looks far better than AC Mirage). And it's fun!
P.S. Ring of Red is amazing. It's a vibe and excellently designed.

Tactical RPGs are the bomb and all that. Oh, if only I had the time to play them all! 😎

I do love Chrono Cross. It might have the best soundtrack I’ve ever heard in a game. The rest of the game is fantastic, as well. I’d rate the game a 10 out of ten. It’s one of the best RPG’s on the PS1.

I have a few games in my backlog that I started and just haven't fully gotten into, with the biggest one being FFX. Not having a clear way to know if I'm over or under leveled made me get into situations where normal encounters are deadly. I also have Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Witcher 3 to play eventually that I bought heavily discounted and never touched. The dangers of the bargain bin. Haha
As for Atlus RPGs, if you want something with the press turn system that lacks the fusing element, you might want to try Digital Devil Saga on the PS2. It has a cast that doesn't change and a level up skill tree for each character that can lead to varied builds. It'd probably be more up your alley.

Atlus, rpg's always draw me in, and then I start playing, and it's never what I want.
I just ended up staking them aside for trade/sale another day.
The only one i really got into was revelations on gameboy

@@magustrigger9195 Yeah I really didn't care for those Shin Megami games at all. And I even beat Persona 3. But after that I sold the whole bunch: Personas, Digital Devil Sagas, Devil Summoners. Sent those devils packing. 😎

I don't agree with your assessment of the Dreamcast. There's definitely nostalgia mixed with my view but it's an iconic system.

I’m a raging Nintendo fan boy so bear that in mind but I have this sentiment for pretty much every sega console so there is that too lol. Never really found the “game” or thing that made the system a must play for me. Everything I bought for it was a disappointment or short lived and then it was killed off unceremoniously and partnered with Xbox which was an unknown gaming entity at the time. So I felt ripped off and foolish for buying it after the 32x and Saturn “appeared” to have similar fates. Ironically the Saturn now has tons of stuff I’d love to play but Dreamcast still doesn’t lol. I’ve no doubt I’m likely wrong about this and am clouded by negative nostalgia too though lol

@@LukesGamerRoom , Shenmue was ahead of its time and is the title I most associate with the console.

Persona 5 sucks. I beat it in 2017, and it took me 113 hours. I would say half of those hours was watching teenagers text each other, repeat the same things over and over, and go out to eat sushi. Persona 5 is the single most overrated rpg I’ve ever played. I rated it a 4.5 out of ten.
