9:00 at MLB level, the vast majority of hit batters are intentional. Those guys are so elite. They can throw balls 80, 90, 100 mph with the precision to hit a postage stamp. Every once in a while there will be a wild pitch where the ball goes nowhere near where it was intended. This is usually caused by things like sweat on your hand.

3:18 One of my favorite things about playing football were situations like this where players or teams had something coming. Coaches would even hype you up the whole week telling you to destroy the guy on the other side of the field because he said something reckless on twitter bout the team etc.

8:40 it's the Green Monster. It hit one of the seats and bounced back in. If your ball hits anywhere over the wall of a park (and some parks have colored lines on the top that count) it is a homer.

Best moment occurred in a NHL game when a player got injured/ cut and a fan right up against the glass was laughing and taunting him. Later in the game a puck went over the glass and hit that same fan in the head cutting him open. The same player from before was on the ice and went by the glass making fun of him and even the fan's wife was laughing at his karma moment.

You can get hit on purpose for many reasons. You could be crowding the plate. You could have “disrespected” the pitcher earlier in the game or season. Etc. but the one I hate is you getting hit for something your teammate did.

As far as equipment…hitters sometimes will wear an elbow guard on the outside arm that faces the pitcher and a shin guard on the outside leg, at most. 80 percent of batters wear nothing but a helmet up there. No padding on the ribs etc. So hitters will often break hands, wrists, and ribs from being hit by pitchers. Another big source of batter injuries are from themselves. I’m sure there are videos of it but they will foul tip balls from the pitchers off their feet/shin/legs, and break ankles, shins, feet etc. Rare occasions a batter has foul tipped a ball from the pitcher off his own face and broken noses and orbital bones. In the old days of baseball, they didn’t even wear helmets when batting. Which is absolutely insane. Babe Ruth never wore a helmet when batting. Just a regular baseball hat..🤯

The Green Monster is what it's called. If the ball hits high enough even though it bounces back on to the field it counts as a homerun. Any other ball field it would have been out of the park. The Atsro dome(Houston Astros) is the same way. They have wall behind their outfield that has a train track(yes a train goes around the stadium if they hit a homerun).

Yeah, at around 7.55 in the video - that's the Green Monster in Boston, an exceptionally high wall. So high in fact that it has a line which, if a ball hits it, counts as a homerun, even if the ball bounced back in to play. I think it's the only stadium built that way, with that rule.

  • @mikehink4062

Trust me, it doesn’t matter where you get hit by a pitch, it damn well hurts. Some spots are obviously worse than others though and besides the face (which seems like a no brainer), the ribs, ankle, and elbow are the worst spots I’ve ever personally been hit but those balls also weren’t thrown by major league pitchers chucking that rock at 95 mph. It has to be the adrenaline of the game that allows most players to stay so composed after being hit though because just the difference of being hit by a 65-70mph pitch is incredibly hard but adding on 25-30mph to that increases the force exponentially. It’s like the difference between being punched in the arm by a bantamweight boxer & being punched by Mike Tyson.
