Fun fact: In the London montage, the man toasting Paddington as they pass was the character's creator. Sadly, he passed away before the release of the second film.

The movie is very realistic. A homeless immigrant immediately gets adopted by upper class 0.1% family and moves in to one of the richest districts of London where rent for a dirty loft in such house would be £2k/month. It goes perfectly well with a bear straight from a jungle which speaks English fluently with a posh accent. If he talked with Croydon accent he'd stay at the train station forever eating marmalade, drinking ciders and learn pickpocketing.

Going into this I was extremely nervous because Paddington was a massive part of my childhood, but after one sitting of it I fell in love all over again and it made me remember just how big Paddington left an impression on me as a tot. I'm yet to see the second one but I look forward to it!

I'm surprised how everyone here seems to think Paddington 2 is so much better- I've seen both, and I remember thinking 'eh, that was ok, but not a patch on the first one'. But honestly? considering how much people here are raving about it, I'm more than willing to give it another shot. I am watching this channel to appreciate and enjoy things more, after all, so I'd be more than happy for my past self to be proven wrong in this instance!

I remember back in August of 2015: It was late at night, and because I was bored, I decided to watch something on Popcorn time. That's when I first noticed this movie, and because I used to watch the cartoon when I was little, I decided to watch it, and then I watched Ted.
Personally, I really enjoyed it, and it felt like they put actual effort and heart into this movie, as oppose to the Chipmunks or Smurf movies, which are clearly just there to make a profit.

I feel like it would be a fun and interesting challenge for you to find a movie that you actually hate, like a movie you would give a 0/10 if asked to rate it, and try and find as many wins as possible for it. It might be a difficult video to make, and one you wouldn’t be the most eager to do, but it would be a nice thought experiment to see how you can find joy even in things you hate.

    • @thewolfofcomedy5966
      @thewolfofcomedy5966 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Roger Dräyer Anthromorphism is defined as the attribution of human characteristics OR behaviors to non-human entities. That means Koda, Simba, Shere Khan, Baloo, Paddington, Judy Hopps, Mickey Mouse, Brian Griffin, Goofy, and Littlefoot are all anthropomorphic. If its not a human but it has human-like qualities, either behavioral or physical, it's anthropomorphic.

Wizza2418 ye, it was a very Stielbirg ending though if ya compare it to other films from him. But u r right. Though I'd look more to the beginning of the film, not only does it look spectacular, the narration actually feels pretty natural, which is rare. (It also makes sense if u think about where Wade ends up at the end). Its also cool and bleakly realistic to see such a bleak future in many regards not so far away. And all the characters are fun and the main ones are pretty interesting with decent archs and such, its altogether a fairly realistic film oddly, except maybe at the end. Even Samantha being so self conscious about something that most people wouldn't really care about.
Its of course not an absolutely incredible film, but its still a good one

I wish the movie adaptation of RPO had been closer to the source material. that being said, it IS a fun summer-blockbuster movie with tons of nostalgia and lots of fantastic imagery. I don't like the movie nearly as much as I do the novel, but the movie is not terrible at all. it's just not up to the standard Cline set in his writing.

FYI for all the Americans, Britain/The UK/The British isles isn't just London, London is one city in one country, on an island with two other countries, next two another island with two more countries in it. Imagine if only one American city got any publicity outside of america, not fun, but it's probably not your fault that people in the UK know more about the US than visa versa, we get all of your media and you barely (pun not intended) get any of ours, it's just James Bond, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and Downton Abbey.
    *sigh*
    Rant over, sorry for rambling

You know it's pretty insulting to make such large sweeping generalizations against the populace of an entire country, based on a few uneducated people that you've encountered. Most Americans know at least that London is just a city within the UK, but I do agree with you that UK culture tends to be generalized into London.

I honestly think he just didn't enjoy it. He did TFA quickly. Rogue one quickly, but not TLJ.
I didn't like it either. I enjoyed TFA, Rogue one, Solo, but not TLJ. Most of it was ruined because they changed directors from JJ Abrams to Rian Johnson who cared more about subverting expectations and less about making a good star wars plot. Of course it had the few amazing parts, Holdo's sacrifice (but I despised the character), rey and Kylo's battle together, the attack on the base.
But while JJ created so many plot points to be expanded upon in TFA, Rian johnson just fucked every single one and left nothing to be anticipated for in episode 9.

  • @SpreadJoy7

the sequence at the beginning when Paddington is on the platform, everyone is in greys and blacks, with the exception of Paddington in a red hat, seemingly showing the hostile nature of London, and then the Browns come along. Mr Brown is wearing grey, the children are wearing red and grey and Mrs Brown is wearing red. To me it symbolises the openness of Mrs Brown contrasted with Mr Brown closed off-ness similar to the rest of London. Also, its nice that it shows the kids as a mix of their parents, showing more of their characters, while we still can't see much yet, because Mr& Mrs Brown take the spotlight. On top of this the red shows the connection to Paddington immediately. Sorry for the essay but the details in this movie are awesome.

YES! I thought I was the only person in the world who liked Cars 2. No, it's not one of Pixar's top masterpieces, and the first is definitely superior from a story/nostalgia standpoint, but Cars 2 is just fun! I mean, what's not to love about a spy thriller starring Mater?! I have a theory that the people who hate Cars 2 don't know any people IRL like Mater. Whereas, I know a lot of Maters (Kentucky's full of 'em!), and a movie showing a good ol' boy caught up in an international spy romp? Yes, please! I, for one, can totally relate to the fish out of water story. There's also several really beautiful shots in that movie.
