Have y'all ever tried my Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake? What's your favorite flavor of gooey cake?
I've made a few variations but my favorite is cherry, I think. Instead of using pumpkin I use a can of cherry pie filling and sometimes I"ll use a chocolate cake mix with it. So good!

Not everything has to be a cake. For my health reasons, roasted pumpkin cubes over a green salad is delish and low cal.

I love that Paula cleans out her dishes,cans and scrapes the cream cheese wrapper.That is the way I was raised.You dont waste a drop of anything.A real cook!

I have to make Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake every Thanksgiving for my niece. It replaced pumpkin pie a long time ago...never gets old.
I made my first one according to the directions, the second and all after that I used a spice cake as my crust. The difference is remarkable. Yum
Interesting! I wondered about that, too. Also, I think this recipe would lend itself very well to lemon flavor, using a lemon cake mix and lemon extract in the cream cheese gooey part.
I was thinking spice cake too - or even gingerbread… only because that’s what I have on hand…

I make this twice a year and use 1 1/2 tsps of cinnamon and 1/2 tsp of nutmeg. Always turns out perfectly.
My mother hated to cook and only did it because she had to. Growing up I did learn a few little things from her but not much. Everything I now know about cooking I learned from Paula and I just seem to have a natural love for the Southern cooking style and traditions. Thank you and bless you dear Paula!💖
My husband got me that same hand mixer 4 years ago for Christmas. I LOVE it 💗 I've made this pumpkin gooey butter cake for Thanksgiving many times over the years. Tastes like pumpkin pie.

This recipe has been my cannon of holiday dessert for several years, and I want to thank you for this. None of my family except for my niece, and I loved pumpkin, but when I make this, the entire go crazy and request to take some home. For them, it's like eating sweet potato pie. Personally, is there a recipe that you can use sweet potatoes in gooey butter cake. Thanks again, Paula.
I have made your gooey butter cake before and it's always a hit. I will definitely be trying this pumpkin flavor. I'll also be trying a sweet potato flavor and I just might try to make one with coconut for Christmas. Paula, I have been making this for yrs. now& I always add 1 Tbsp.Vanilla Extract & Pumpkin Pie Spice & a Dash of Cardamom. It really wakes up the flavor w/the Cardamom in there. I whip up heavy cream & a little confectionars sugar to sweeten it slightly & dust the tops after it's on the cake w/Nutmeg & Everyone Loves It ! A Thanksgiving Tradition.🦃😃

I make cardamom ice cream with coconut milk and it is one of my faves! Cardamom is so fabulous.
Holy crap, “Brace yourself Ethel”…that hand mixer has a 500HP motor on a delay start. What were they thinking? YUM cake, I can smell it. Perfect fall recipe.

My sister gave me the recipe for this over 40 years ago, she didn’t remember the name, so she just called it good cookies, so that’s what I’ve always called it, and even though I know it has an actual name now, I’m always going to call it good cookies. I made several of these last year around Christmas to take to my grandsons house and sons house, we really enjoyed it. When I first got the recipe I think we made it every week for six months, which is what we typically did with each new recipe we got…including the family favorite

My family have always liked the pecans in the cake mixture and then cream cheese, eggs, powdered sugar, pecans and coconut in the filling. But after I watched you use Pumpkin, it will be my next Gooey butter cake! It would be a great cake for Thanksgiving!!!

This is a great cake, I don't like pumpkin pie at all, but after coming in from doing sometimes outside I happened to turn on the TV and you were a guess on the Rachel Ray show one year, and you were making this cake, and I thought that I would give it a try. Well I had to hunt down your web site to get the recipe. It has been a favorite around here now I know for over 11 years or however long ago you were on her show. Everyone ask for my Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake, I tell them no it is not my cake it is a Paula Deen Cake. I will have to try it with sweet potatoes too, I have made a sweet potato cake before but I away made it like a carrot cake, and I hated having to to grate the carrots. If you have to much Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake left over from the holidays it freezes well too. I just wrap it up in individual slices in some plastic saran wrap, and all you have to do is take it out of the freezer pop it in the microwave for just a few seconds, when you get a craving for something sweet. Well there goes my diet again. Love watching you cook I tell people that I cook like Paula Deen thanks for the many years of cooking, and sharing your recipes, you can't go wrong with your recipes unless as you say you burn it up.

I made a gooey cake a few weeks ago, and it was so good. I made it in a smaller dish and it was really too thick. My mother used to make the gooey butter cakes all the time and different flavors. I love starting my day off with Paula. Love you!!

This looks daalicious!! Will try out the recipe before Thanksgiving then use it to replace pumpkin pie! Maybe decorate the top with some whole pecans. It looked nice sliced on the platter with the candy corn!

I made it but used a spice cake instead of a yellow cake mix never thought of adding an extra egg but will do so as the pumpkin sets up to firm. Still taste great though. Thanks Paula

I would use Pumpkin Pie Spice. All premixed in the right proportions. I use it for my Apple pies too.

My mother made these,and never again made a basic pumpkin pie. She loved your show,she’s not with us any longer,but loved your recipes. I put a tsp. Of vanilla in the crust, not sure why ?? I use fresh grated nutmeg !

After I watched this video, I went straight to my spice cabinet and looked for nutmeg (I have cinnamon already). I don't have any but I did find pumpkin pie spice and also allspice. Will either of those do?

Does anybody know if this can be done with a gluten free cake mix? Would the amount of eggs and butter be different since usually gluten free cakes mixes are smaller.
