    I have a pair and I love them! Got them for $615. The price is high because they have my RX and I added the feature for transitions. Love them! Love the audio and I also go live on IG for school events since I manage its social media. Pics are decent with good lighting. I like the Meta assistant as well. NO REGRETS on this purchase.

      I own a private detective agency. We follow people every day into stores, restaurants, gym, etc. There are plenty if products that are designed for covert video, they are just not the name brand companies. Remember people in public you have NO expectation of privacy. You are fair game, even in your front yard (unless you live on a large piece of property), you really do not have an expectation of privacy. Granted if you have a tall fence I can not climb a tree to film you cutting your grass but if there is a subdivision on top if a hill behind your house, I can get my video there. Again, people, unless you are inside your house or behind a tall fence you are open to be filmed. Heck you are already being filmed just about anywhere you go already. There are tag readers everywhere, including some police vehicles. All of those tag readers sell your information online.

    These are wild! Thanks for the walk-through and review. It's exciting to see how Version II of the Smart Glasses has improved both image and sound quality but seems like they have a ways to go before they are a "must have".

  • @GagePeters2000
    @GagePeters2000 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The video files vary in dimensions depending on how much the digital stabilization needs to crop in. The largest video resolution (where I really worked to keep everything still) was 1728x2304. Another one where I moved it alot was only 1360x1824. The rest were somewhere in between.

  • @jamesecurtis1705

    Also the record time limit is more or less because these are designed more for social media platforms. I think their attempt to have people engage & maybe even come back to META’s 3 platforms. I bought these and I have to say as far as social media they are really good. I have a friend here. She bought a pair and has been live streaming with them on her walk. The live streams so far have looked really good and sound excellent.I have an iPhone and I was impressed that while using the activity or even receiving messages I could hear them clearly with these glasses. They also have an option to add prescription lenses to these as well. Come to Europe. People don’t use earbuds. And have no problem holding the phone out and having video or audio calls for the world to hear. LOL

  • @tuanx
    @tuanx ปีที่แล้ว +36

    An obvious improvement would be a 1:1 sensor that records at a higher fidelity & auto-stabilizes the footage to account for titled heads & movement. The 1:1 also allowing the user in post to adjust the framing of the footage. Also typical battery life & image quality improvements. Additionally we can maybe, one day, get to a place where there are cameras at both ends of the glasses that would allow for higher fidelity computational imagery & possibly even support for spatial photos & videos. Feels like you didn't really think through your final thoughts. Maybe some of your pessimism got in the way. But I see this being useful for people who want to capture moments & not have a phone pulled out. Those who want to capture their kids & not miss a moment, or a pet that may react poorly to a phone being pulled out, those concert goers that feel compelled to record their event won't have a phone in the sky, also to maybe even quickly capture a moment of public interest or safety.

    • @TwiggyDoom
      @TwiggyDoom ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The odd thing here is the previous version did record in a 1:1 format. It's baffling that they moved away from that. I have a pair of the originals and I rarely use the camera functions but the headphones are great especially when you want to keep aware of the sound around you.

    As a videographer, the combination of the lower quality camera, the lack of horizontal framing, and the frustration of framing slightly counter-intuitively to our natural head position makes an awful lot of reasons tampering down my enthusiasm about the potential of these glasses. That said, it is an awfully impressive achievement and it has me excited about the potential future development of this line of technology.

    I need a pair of these RayBan Smart glasses that I can film with for more than 5 minutes in my classes (sometimes the writing on the board, sometimes a projector image, or just the entire lecture if it is full of new material. I do not want to distract the instructor with a little light flasing on the outside top corner of my glasses, though. My instructors have no problem when people use their smart phones for these purposes, and I would tell them if I planned to record with the glasses in their class. I will be one of the first to buy if Ray-Ban comes up with camera feed to my phone for prolonged recording or a chip that be taken out of the glasses and inserted to a slot on my computer, or even if the memory capacity of the glasses is imporved to record up to 4 hours. I'll keep watching for one of these to reach market. Thank you for your review of the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses II.

    To the question what should they do better is at least two answers:
    1) to get the product available and 2) horizontal 4K.
    You can’t get a pair here in Europe. I have been waiting for now a month to be able to get.
    I think that video should be horizontal 4K. When you get a pair for home video or TH-cam b-roll you don’t want to have vertical videos. I think that it’s much bigger market area.

  • @brettyg76
    @brettyg76 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    These would be very useful for everyday people dealing with the public day in day out. They would be helpful in identifying criminals or violent members of society and give police clear image/s of the offender and a video of the crime, without the offender knowing that they were being filmed/photographed, at the same time protecting the victim, as having a physical camera/phone in a offender’s face can make the situation worse. So having this camera in a pair of glasses can de-escalate a situation. I can’t wait to see this technology evolve in the future and hopefully one day these glasses will have the capability of recording (at least) 2.7k with longer recording time. Also hopefully increasing the megapixel of the photos to say 20mp+.

  • @Selfpowered
    @Selfpowered ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The only time I could see myself using something like these is if I wanted to take a photo of something that would be gone by the time I got my phone or camera out, so they need to work on the photo delay. Maybe in 10 years they'll track your eyes and let that determine where the camera focuses.

    That said, there's going to be someone who will rehouse these for under-cover journalism etc.
    Also centring the camera will absolutely make distant object framing much better, opening up the rtmp for third party apps etc would be also beneficial for longer record time requirements.

    The upgrade should have bone conduction for sound, zoom for pictures, ability to make video calls or FaceTime with the glasses .. maybe by Apple

    I think someone needs to test that light and see how many instances you can trick it or totally bypass it.

      i film myself picking up and fcuking prostitiues in my truck and there is a way to trick the lense while not letting the person notice any light. if there is a will there is a way. so thanlfcully im keeping these pair.

    I use prescription glasses for a long time. Is it possible to have prescription lenses on Ray ban meta?

    I would expect some countries to ban these. The Ray-Ban ban.

      There will be a 'ban the Ray-Ban' campaign, which will be countered by Ray-Ban with 'ban the Ray Ban ban' campaign

    this is really intended as a stepping stone for future (5-7years i estimate) tech such as AR from the likes of Microsoft Holo Lens. with tech getting better and more improved each day, i don think this is far removed from reality and this is really a product meant to make it more meainstream and not look like Jordi from Star Trek.

    They could have easily put the camera in the middle and avoid the off-center framing issues.. phone cameras are tiny enough for that.
