    Love hearing Bill talk, he seemed like a cool and funny guy. I bet it was a blast being in his band.

    Wally Yahn playing an ARP 2600 thru a 31H Leslie speaker. What a great player he was. Loved his organ playing.

    Mind-boggling. The best Chase I've heard. Bill was a few years before my listening years started around 1977. Man what I would give to have seem him live.

    Dug my old vinyl collection out of storage this week for my 14 year old daughter who’s starting to collect and found this gem. Blew my mind. Wore this one out in the mid 70’s and am thrilled to re-discover it. Can’t believe this footage exists! Thanks for posting.

    Simply awesome groove. This band inspired a generation of band boys with iron lips.
    This should be required viewing for every horn player.

    Great!....... I saw them in Dallas at Travis street Electric Company. Jammed a bit, and partied a lot with them. I wish I could play with them today. The world today is missing a truly Tremendous Band!! Like Lightning Bolts man! God bless Bill and those who went down with him. Fine men!

    This is the video that inspired me to actually start practicing my trumpet. Jay and Bill were THE influence for me back in high school. Still brings me to tears.

    The "Bo" in "BoChaWa" was Jerry "Bo" Van Blair. He left the lineup right before the recording sessions for Pure Music took place. The "Cha" was Bill Chase, and the "Wa" was Wally Yohn. I would have loved to have heard this song while Bo Van Blair was still with the group.

    I can only imagine where this group would have gone. Electricity charged, hair standing up excitement...So sad to have lost him. What he and Maynard would have sparked....omg.

      Aug 9 1974. John Emma (guitar), Wally Yohn (keyboards), Walter Clarke (drums) and of course Bill all died. Incredibly sad. John Emma was only 22 years old..... At least we have this video.

    They would have sounded better if they balanced the trumpets with some 'bones and 'phones.

    • @jgrandydev
      @jgrandydev 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would defeat the purpose. Remember Bill played with MF , Kenton , Woody , all with the full orchestra. He had a vision of his own thing and he followed it.
