Anyone who took band through grade school, or just picked up a wind instrument in general, knows what it takes to huff and puff a sousa, much less humm and scream into it while playing.

It's insane How Nat McIntosh can hum, make weird FX noises, and play sousaphone at the same time
Yeah, that technique is called multiphonics. Definitely a cool thing brass can do, and it's more common on the lowest instruments because you literally buzz with part of your embouchure and sing through the other at the same time, and that's a bit easier with a larger mouthpiece.

My son is a sophomore first trombones and they just got handed the tune yesterday. He’s like “I don’t have this range” and I’ll tell you the same thing I told him. Yes you do, you just don’t know it yet.
@@dfisk79 Yeah I have the range down, especially with my new jazz horn; the mouthpiece is so small compared to my trigger horn, its crazy. I've honestly got most of the song down right now, it's not too bad as long as you can hit the notes.That improv though... gonna need to transcribe that

Multi phonics, he sings while playing a note. A lot harder than you think, it's normaly hard to hear on a tuba, but it helps that he has a mike. And for the other sounds, he sings those. Its amazing really
