Thank you for another great video! I love the Mussleburgh hats you have completed and I want to see the little baby one also! What a cute idea to send all three a hat for the winter! Lucky sister and nieces! I adore yellow yarn so I want to see how those socks work up! Thank you for sharing about your works - I enjoy seeing all of them and am so impressed with your knitting skills. I love the laid back attitude about knitting when you said "I don't stress about that"! So refreshing to hear. Have a great week!
I know the feeling about being “done” with a project. I put my brother-in-laws Christmas sweater on a naughty pile for 2/3 months before picking it up again and finishing it off. I still didn’t enjoy making it, but I didn’t resent it as much! Do what you need to 💓
I’m working on my first musselburgh hat for my BIL. I LOVE your idea of using scrap yarn if you run out. I was stressing about having enough yarn. 😊. You never know when the sweater bug will bite you again. Wyatt may get the sweater someday. 😍
I’m sitting outside at 6:30 in the morning and it’s so nice to have a cyber-friend who podcasts. It was nice to see you and all your makings. I love the idea of having sisters and nieces; I wish I had some.😢 That granite state yellow and brown set is gorgeous and now I’m done ranting -thanks for posting. ❤
Totally understand being done with a project. I felt that way about a quiet I made for my granddaughter. It was just not my happy plCe. It fought me on the quilting. I finally made it about the look that would be on her face. I thought about how I would present it to her. We were going to be with her for the first time o. Her birthday because she lives in Scotland. I told her everytime she wraps up in it, I am there wrapping my arms around you. Maybe if you think of surrounding your son with your arms and his memory of you working on ut fit him will help you power through. Blessings
Wow love the hats you are doing for your family. I do hope the feeling of joy for your sons jumper comes back to you it is so amazing all the knitting so far maybe a rest from it then in the colder months you will pick it up again but as always happy knitting 😊
Thank you for sharing all of your finished projects, WIPs, and encouraging us to make things that bring us JOY. Loved the Musselburgh hat and has encouraged me to make one.; I am about half way and I am loving it. I also joined a monthly knitting club and can't wait to get the first package in the mail. It feels like Christmas. LOL
I love my Fox and Pine Stitches notion keeper, I have coffee money, lip gloss, stitch markers , progress keeper, fold up scissors, darning needles, measuring tape and a cable needle. I find it very handy just to throw in my bag and go.
Kayla I have a book series recommendation you might enjoy. The Red River of the North books by Lauraine Snelling. They are about a Norwegian family emigrating to the US in the 1800s, finding land and farming. All about their adventures both good and bad! I’ve loved them.😊
I should put Wyatt’s sweater aside for a while then maybe you will get back to it at a later date? I think he will be disappointed if you don’t finish it for him! Lovely socks this video and I love the Rhinebeck roomies pattern! Have made several pairs with this pattern!
I agree about not working on something joyless, but sometimes I still want the product! Right now I am struggling to complete the Anthology Throw. But I’m almost there! As someone suggested, maybe you can find a knitter to finish the sweater for you. You have so much already done.
Your gifted yarns are so pretty! You’re going to have a lot of fun with them. That little purple box with compartments for progress keepers was pretty cool. Thank you for this video, Kayla.
Everything is beautiful! Love the hat. I believe in our area there is something they do where they place a ton of hats and scarves on bushes for the homeless to get. I vaguely remember, though, that they need more synthetic yarns (washing), nothing flashy, etc.
I do enjoy watching your videos & seeing all the lovely things you make. You are so close to finishing the sweater for your son. Think of his joy when he receives it knowing that you put a lot of time & effort into it.❤. I understand your feeling about not wanting to finish it so before making a decision step back from it for a short time. Knowing what you have learned about not wanting to do garments anymore gives you the ability to decline doing anymore in the future.😊
Definitely may just be that a break is needed! I also put the back piece out to block this morning to even see if the size is going to work. 😅 because I think it’s too small! 😆
I know what you mean about the sweater. I had the same issue with my son’s wedding blanket. But I knew I would finish it, was just a matter of when. I finally realized how close I was and set a goal which I met! It feels so good to be done after 6 long years. Since then I have finished my first pair of socks and a second Musselburgh hat. When the project is not joyful it can feel like a weight for sure. You are so very close though and he will love it. I encourage you to put it in your 30 minutes a day. ❤
Thank you for the encouragement! 🩷 It could be just a break is needed or a change in how I approach it! This project has definitely made me realize cables aren’t my thing 😂
I know what you mean about knitting bringing joy. I’m not enjoying the Musselburgh hat sadly but I will finish it. It’s for my 17 year old granddaughter who spends all of her weekends at the stables taking care of her horse and working with other horses. As Calgary winters are cold and barns are not really heated, she needs this hat.
That sweater is important, could you assign just one day a week and a time to it? Maybe work on it at least while watching Sister Wives or another show you look forward to? There’s a good chance that once you start on it you’ll tell yourself that you’ll won’t stop until you get to a certain spot in the pattern and end up working longer on it, but at the least you’ll have some progress each week. Some is better than none! I know it’s like being stuck on slog island right now but you can hike to the other side! ❤ The things we do for our kids 😂
LOL! Your Life360 alert went off and i looked out the window to see if my son's car was there. I thought it was my alert. I absolutely LOVE your finished socks and ALL of the yarn you showed. Oh my goodness!!!!
Hello dear one. I love how you listen to your heart about your knitting. Wyatt sounds like a sweet soul and will totally understand. And a hug after your conversation will be like icing on the cake. Have a peace-filled weekend!
I know I'm a ways away (Poland) but I can finish the sweater for you if you want. I've made quite a few cabled things and I'm all about the sweaters!! Plus I love the design and the colour! Just let me know ☺️
@@CrazySockLady I'm completely serious 😂 I love adopting projects!! I once finished a grandmothers flower garden hexie quilt (same pattern that you're making) when someone's mother died in the middle of it. I just love it.
Yes! I totally agree about the sweater, let it sit until you totally know you'll never finish it or until your heart turns toward it again. I feel like it's just like when people say, there is no reason to keep reading a book you don't like.
I really need to get on this Musselburgh kick. I see them everywhere and I think they are so fun! Good Bad Girl is excellent. I highly recommend Daisy Darker next if you haven’t read it already. The end will make you go 🤯
I guess I need to try 9 inch circular. I use magic loop. You must have so many pairs of your 9inch 0 but this is your trade and need them. Thanks for all your sharing.
Short & sweet episode this week. After what you've been through with Piper, you deserve a chill weekend. I myself am off to DFW Fiber Fest today for a class with Stephanie Pearl-McPhee!
Love to see the MUSSELBURGH hats! I just bought this pattern and after I finish my current WIP, I will try this for the first time. 🎉😊 Thanks for sharing.
I agree with you on the joy of knitting. I really don’t like knitting sweaters either. I find it so much work and for me it’s hardly ever worked out. I prefer smaller projects. If working on it doesn’t bring joy, don’t bother. Good for you to take care of yourself!
Another fun episode! If Wyatt still wants his sweater, I hope you can set it aside until you feel inspired to finish it (since you already put in so many dedicated knitting hours!). But it's a hobby, as you say, so there's no wrong answer - Just the right one for you! Happy Making!
Thanks! I was just sharing my struggles with the project in the episode. I worked on it over the weekend and haven’t frogged it or anything. It’s just something I’m struggling with and chose to share those struggles on this episode. 🩷
I normally cast on 64 stitches for my socks on a 2.25 needles magic loop. my question is all of a sudden my socks are not fitting me, do I go up a needle size or add more stitches on and continue to use the same needles? I went to the local yarn shop and instead of answering my question they wanted me to take a class. I did buy yarn from them so I was very not happy. I love your channel and watch every time i'm knitting on my socks. thank you ahead of time for answering.
Thank you so much for the info on the Musselburgh hat. I’m working on my first and was a bit nervous about running out of yarn. Now I feel much better!😌
how lucky your nieces are to have such a talented and generous aunt! i love making things for my baby nephew and i can't wait until he is old enough to choose yarns he likes from my stash.
Just reclaimed WYS Signiture Autumn leaves! Everyone's fall inspired socks did it ya'll!! The pattern will be from Winwick Mum's pattern book written for each of the seasons..front and back of the leg pattern. Just gotta ccast on fall socks. Wyatt will understand. I am so sorry about your sweater, put it away for a couple months and then get it back out. You’ve made so much progress and it’s beautiful beautiful work. It would be a shame that that beautiful sweater was not finished.
Oh my goodness. You just freaked me out by saying Tuesday instead of Thursday. I was TGIF all morning then I was like, IT"S ONLY WEDNESDAY, WHAT? WHY? I checked my calendar and all is right in the world again. Innocent mistake. Happy FRIDAY everyone!!!
Thank you I feel like that on a hat, I don't want to work on it because, it is stressing me out and I am not enjoying it. I rip and started it about ten times or more.
When you use the 9" circulars for socks, are you also using them for the heel flap/turn/gusset? I'm curious how that works if you do and if you don't, what are you using when you get to the heel area? I like the 9" circulars, but unsure how to work the heel area. I am part way into a sock right now using them and will be coming to an immediate halt pretty soon because I don't know what to do. LOL Any thoughts/comments/advice would be so appreciated. ◡̈
Ugh I feel the sweater angst, I'm having my own dilemma here. Funny I checked my phone when I heard the life 360 notification, all 4 of my kids now have their drivers license. Beautiful projects as always.
For some reason I’ve fallen into a slump and just don’t want to knit on my nephew’s socks. Life’s been busy running grandkids all over and soccer games. Maybe it’s because it’s for a man’s size 12 or maybe it’s because all I want to work on is my jelly roll blanket. Oh well, I’ll get back into the socks soon. (I hope) 😂
Do you cake up the yarns any special way for socks when there is a bold color and softer color on each end to make the closer to matching. I had a skein that produced a really light sock and darker sock even after I tried rewinding. Thank you for all you do.
Happy belated birthday! I am so envious of all your sock makes, I have just been getting into knitting socks and feel super addicted but it's absolutely killing my hands! Do you find this at all? Is it easier on small circulars? Or when you do vanilla socks? Plz help! I think I'm gripping my needles quite tightly so every time I catch myself I try to relax, but still feeling crampy
I was going to say before I had finished reading this to make sure you aren’t gripping your needles. So I would say that’s what it’s from. I know I had that a bit when I first started. And over time my hands relaxed. With 9” it may help or it may be worse. I discovered 9” later in my sock knitting journey and found that I was gripping them like crazy. And those are so small you really have to make sure you’re holding them… delicately is the only word I can think of. 😂 I would say just giving it some time and reminding yourself to relax will help your hands build that muscle memory and you’ll be good to go. Taking breaks and stretching can help too!
I’ve been doing it magic loop to start and do the increases and decreases. And then 16” for the body. I have the tutorial I use to start it linked on the project pages. It’s a tutorial by Knitty Natty.
I have the tutorial I’m following linked on my Ravelry project page. It’s much easier! I’ve always heard some people say they just cast on the amount of stitches called for and set it up for magic loop. And then close the hole up with the yarn tail. So that works too!
I definitely want him to have the sweater he wants. But I’m being honest by sharing my thoughts about the process on here. It’s not something I’m enjoying. And that’s ok! I always want to be real and authentic and share how I’m feeling about what I’m working on. And I’ve been struggling with this project! 😅😆 🩷
So I wonder if you can recommend some vlogmas to watch as a replacement for my very favorite that isn’t happening this year 😭(I totally get why). Thanks!
Hi, where are the sock hangers/sock blockers from ? (The ones that your finished projects are on) .. also do you have a tutorial on knitting the sock heel and toe in a different color yarn for your vanilla sock? Thank you
The start can be a bit fiddly, but I think you could get it! I have the tutorial for the start I use linked on my Ravelry project page. I definitely recommend that start over what’s in the pattern. 🧶

Maybe you can find a knitting friend to take over the sweater project for you in exchange for yarn, socks, etc.
That’s a good idea but nah, I know I wouldn’t want to do the “work” that then my making would become. If that makes sense. Lol
Great idea! The sweater is fantastic!
That yarn is absolutely luscious. I bet it would work up SO pretty in a musselburgh.

I have the tutorial I’m following linked on my Ravelry project page. It’s much easier! I’ve always heard some people say they just cast on the amount of stitches called for and set it up for magic loop. And then close the hole up with the yarn tail. So that works too!
@@CrazySockLady thank you so much!!
You’re so close to a finish. I would want to do it for my son. 😁
Thanks!
Finnish Knitting Stories!!
Hi, where are the sock hangers/sock blockers from ? (The ones that your finished projects are on) .. also do you have a tutorial on knitting the sock heel and toe in a different color yarn for your vanilla sock? Thank you
Yep, it’s under the tutorial playlist here on my TH-cam 🧦 I have the blockers linked on my Amazon storefront, link in the description box.
@@CrazySockLady Thank you so much 🩷 going to attempt my first socks soon.
You’re welcome! I’m always happy to try to help!
Can I ask about your stud earrings in this video? And where we might be able to find them? They are lovely! Thank you.
Thank you! My husband bought them for me when he was in Ft Worth Texas. 🩷

I know you will hear this a lot but please find someone to finish Wyatt’s sweater!! It’s so beautiful!!
Hi Kayla I have made the Wolof now the granddaughters would like one should I just cast on fifty stitches on for them ??
I’m sorry I’ve only ever done the size the pattern has. I’ve never done any changing the counts.
Oh no...send me the sweater and I will finish it for you 😊
🩷🩷 so sweet! I’m blocking the back piece to check the size and then will re evaluate. Sometimes we just need a break from projects for a bit.
Your mug practically matches your shirt
Oh my gosh it does! 😂
Do you think the Musselburgh hat would be easy for a newbie knitter… I’m use to basic beanies
The start can be a bit fiddly, but I think you could get it! I have the tutorial for the start I use linked on my Ravelry project page. I definitely recommend that start over what’s in the pattern. 🧶
Will you post a link for the sock ruler you use, please?
Here ya go! amzn.to/3XS98uX
Sorry about the sweater… maybe you just need a break? Our local knit shop offer help. Check yours if you’re stuck.
Ka-a-a-y….please don’t frog Wyatt’s sweater! You’re almost finished with it! Do you me to finish it for you? I’ll do it!
The hat matches your eyes ❤
What length is that needle for the baby Musselburgh?
Not sure, haven’t measured it. I showed the set I used in the video 🩷
❤❤❤
How is your new doggie doing? I miss seeing your cute animals but I know it’s about the making 😊
She is doing great!
