The Road to Muckle Flugga

A recent journey to the northern most tip of the United Kingdom to get a close up view of the lighthouse on Muckle Flugga, a rocky outcrop in the North Atlantic off the Shetland Island of Unst.
The lighthouse was completed in 1858 by David Thomas Stevenson (father of Robert Louis Stevenson) and was automated in 1995.

2-27-18 I am from Houston, Texas and just watched your video. And really enjoyed it. Thank you both so much for putting this on youtube so i could see the lighthouse at Muckle Flugga, Scotland. I wish I could take a boat to the lighthouse and walk up those steps to the lighthouse. Ha Ha. I am too old to do that now.

I got divebombed by skuas there. They protect their nests. Beautiful place though.

Same happened to me when visiting an uninhabited island off Barra. They were lethal! I gave up and headed back to the beach where the boat was due to pick me up. A yacht owner told me how a few days earlier he'd had one of his crew airlifted to hospital after a skua divebombed him and gashed his forehead.
