  • The Ultimate Sea Kayaking Trip to the United Kingdom's remote and most Northerly Point, Out Stack and Muckle Flugga with a great group of friends from Shetland. Erik Isbister, Hamish Leslie, Tracy Lee Woodrow and Rachel Shucksmith.
    This trip rates as one of the best I've done in over 50 plus years of sea kayaking, with all the elements of conditions, remoteness, tides and features...sheer enjoyment on a grand scale.
    Privileged to be able to land and share I glimpse into the remoteness of the place and ponder over what life and isolation must have been like for the lighthouse keepers on such an exposed rock, to imagine what conditions they must have faced stuck there in severe storms!!
    We also enjoyed great conditions in the exposed tide races around the outside of Out Stack and the entire group before returning to Burrafirth to enjoy the magnificent coastline, through the miriad of caves, arches geo's and subterranean tunnels, then out and around to our finish point at Skaw Beach.
    An excellent day with its great memories to look back on.
    Thank you guys!!

      Hi Charles, I appreciate your kind comments👍 😊 I suspect you're new to the channel so welcome & thanks for joining. Please feel free to browse and share with friends, lots of interesting content with beautiful scenery, wildlife and crazy conditions!
      Muckle Flugga is an Iconic sea kayaking trip in a spectacularly remote location, swept by strong tide races and huge seas.
      We were very fortunate with conditions as its not always possible to cross or get near to Out Stack !! Landing on Muckle Flugga is never easy and the climb to to the lighthouse was "gut busting" but hugely rewarding....stunning.
      Best Regards Geoff. Regular new content coming soon 👍

I agree with your comment regards starting late, but hey, it's never to late when it comes to sea kayaking as there's something for everyone and you can choose whether it's a relaxed trip, tranquil and calm or spiced up a wee bit for a more adrenaline fuelled trip.

Everything else is going to turn out crap now 🙃 😂.... Just busy editing the warm up paddle we did the day before, which was all rock dodging and scooting through gullies, sadly no extreme races or fabulous features even the day was grey, so I'll make my apologies now 😢 🙄🙄

    Just managed to get round to Skaw beach. Originally were going to paddle the other way round but a strong wind changed the plan. Saw a few Great Skuas hastling the huge flock of gannets.

    • @geoffburke
      @geoffburke  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Aye, conditions change so quickly up there, requiring constant monitoring things and having back up plans & escape routes. The bonxies are, what I can only describe as pure evil in the way they gang up on single gannets until they drive them into the sea, where if they don't regurgitate their catch they drive the gannet underwater and drown them in a desperate attempt to steal food. 😡😡

    • @geoffburke
      @geoffburke  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Vincent, I've just been in touch with Erik from Shetland who was in the Orange 'Valley Sirona' and he confirmed that the yellow was a 'Valley Avocet' and the Cream/off white is a Romany. I hope this helps and wish you all the best 👍

      @@geoffburke Yes, thank you very much, because these boats are on my list. The Seller tells me a Romany would be perfect for my use. He sells the Atlantic PE Low volume or standard, the Sirona PE and the Romany PE. I wille try the "Delphin P&H" too. Do you have a favourite kayak on this list?

    • @geoffburke
      @geoffburke  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@vincentleger9875 Hi Vincent, I'm totally bias as I love my Atlantic, it has no bad traits at all. It has all the performance and stability in very Challenging Conditions, I can relax and film from it. It's very predictable, laden or empty, does exactly what I need it to do as and when I need it. This is a very personal thing that suits my style of paddling and may not suit everyone!

    Can we please have a video where we can hear and enjoy the natural sounds of the environment, instead of stupid over-dramatic music.

    • @geoffburke
      @geoffburke  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Laki, and thanks for your very candid comments. While I'm aware of people's varied taste in music it is always very difficult to select something to suit all tastes, but I do try, especially with a sport and area that is so remote and dramatic as its location. Producing any video or professional documentary requires music to enhance the captured images and can't just be produced with natural sound especially when shot on a simple "action camera" and as stated any soundtrack is completely subjective and impossibleto please everyone.
      I produce these video's as a record/memory of a sport/lifestyle that I love (as you have a passion for cars but unfortunately no video's of your own to show as an example). Feedback I receive is always most welcome (and I get lots of amazing comments) so it comes as a shame and a great surprise to have my work criticised as "stupid over-dramatic" and leads me to think of what a shame you have such a self centered view that you need everything changed to suit your taste.
      Thanks again for you comments and when you do produce something of your own please forward the link to me for an honest unbiased review. Best Regards Geoff

      @@matthewjames1394 Thanks for your comments Mathew. As previously stated to Laki..... It's very difficult to put any soundtrack to a video that will suit everyone's taste and as you so eloquently imply.... there is always a volume button to adjust. Instead he takes the time and thinks it acceptable to make derogatory comments of peoples work, calling it "stupid, over-dramatic" but don't have time or the balls to produce and share their own work. All that's required is "constructive comment" !!!
