Hello from Switzerland. I would like to tell you that I genuinely enjoy your videos. You bring so much calm and peace of mind when I watch your videos, because of the lovely filming, editing, choice of music and your demeanour. As a scuba diver I feel jealous but enjoy living these moments with you. My favourite video of yours is Grotto Saipan. I want to truly thank you for your efforts, and wish all the best. Please continue bringing this calmness to many people like myself
It was cool seeing you freedive amongst scuba divers. I get so caught up in the videos I forget you're freediving. Keep up the beautiful videos! Be safe.
Always thought freediving was something that was just completely beyond me, though I also thought that about SCUBA but I got my Open Water last November. However, watching your vids has somehow humanized the experience, showing that it's not for the extreme elite but something that any able-bodied person could try. I very recently began dry statics and it's utterly incredible what a proper breath up and relaxation can do. I remember when even holding my breath for 1 minute seemed impossible, but within two practice sessions I went from 1m35, to 3min, and now I've reached 4min. Keep up the awesome and inspirational work!
Hello from Guam, it’s great to see that you are enjoying the waters our island has to offer. So much inspiration that I get from these videos. Keep up the great work! Makes me want to be a better free diver. 👍🏾
hey, i have been watching you for quite a while now and over time, i have noticed your videos have been getting better and better. this one has really stood out to me because of the suspenseful feeling we get from you narrating it. also enjoyed the intro where it brings you all the way from the U.S. to Guam. very pleasing to watch and I hope to see more videos like this!
+collin elliston thank you very much collin.. comment like this are what keeps me motivated! There will be mor vids from Saipan on the way soon (leaving for the trip early April), will use this format.
Hafa Adai, from Guam. This is my first view of your video and I am impressed at how comfortable you are. The video is great and I look forward to many more.
The low visibility, made it look much deeper than 18 meters, I was sure it was around 30M until you confirmed the Depth and Visibility!!!! Thank You.... I love your vids.
Very very nice, from the images, to the info displayed, to the music... but above all I love the images with the huge contrast between tanks+bubles and no tank. Thanks Dean
Thankyou for the wonderful video as always, very pleasing to watch the bubblers flail their limbs around aimlessly! also, don't leave us hanging with the mysterious "wtf" near the end, I have to know what that was now!! :p thanks once again
Dean! What a great video man. Well done. I can see you're having a bad diving time because of the weather and problems to locate the american tanker. However I'm glad you made it greatly and safely!! Greets from Malaysia 😉
Great dive man. Dude with all the sites you have visited, you can easily be a great tour guide. I can see it now "FreeDiver HD Adventure Tours" :-) Thumbs Up!
On your Eilat video, great video by the way and love ur channel, I was wondering what the music was cause Shazam couldn't pick it up and it wasn't in the link anyway Thx for the help keep the videoed coming
great dive, can you come over to australia? and do you ever carry a dive knife in warmer waters because of sharks? because the other day i went out diving and saw 3 gummy sharks that were decent size
hello there. great video as always. my question is in scuba diving course they teach you that a safety stop is absolutely needed when ascending to the surface from that depth. But it certainly seems like you had been doing just fine from 18meter up to the surface without the safety stop. Can you enlighten me?
Safety stop is a scuba thing, since the divers have been breathing compressed air at depth, the safety stop gives time for the diver to release nitrogen which was absorbed into the blood stream. Freedivers do not breath gas under pressure, so we *generally* don't have this issue. There are exceptions for extreme conditions.
Hey bro, awesome vids and thanks for keeping up with it! Your vids are most of the reason I got into this. I remember you saying you used a Hero 4 Silver.....what settings did you use for this video? It came out very good!
Thanks for the great words. This video was filmed in standard settings, 1440P. The original video files straight off the camera are a bit, random, some good, some bad - The key is getting the video to look good is editing and color correcting it in Sony Vegas.
I've been loving your videos. As a commercial diver I am always wary of having to cut away fishing lines and nets when working around structures. I can't see you carrying a knife and I am wondering if this is usual for free divers or if you have one I just can't see?
+Jeremy Williams Freedivers generally don't carry knifes. The whole entanglement issue does worry me.... i wouldn't be surprised if i got stuck in fishing line and died one day.
Great video's man ! Inspired me to go diving myself, quick 2 question tho :p ! How are you able to hold your breath so long while swimming? ( i want to learn the technique) and how do you know how deep under water you are? Or are that just estimates ? Hope to hear from you !
I like these videos, they are very intrensting and fun. I would like to do things like this. Btw watching in 2017, oh and freediver were are ya man, hope everything is going ok for ya.
It's depends on how much swimming/moving you do underwater. If you are mostly still, its easy to get 3 minutues, but if you kicking and swimming around on the bottom, after 1:15 I feel like its already time to go back up.
No, im just using it for the sun (used to get sun burn on my back while on the surface breathing up). But I do put my hood on, which is neopreen and offers some warmth, since you do loose a lot of heat through your head, so its helps a small bit... and keeps the sun off my neck.
If you ever come to South Florida and would like to check out some of our wrecks I go out on a weekly basis. Here in broward county we have a ton of wrecks and reefs in 28m or less
Freediver HD Speaking in terms of diving locations the furthest spot from shore that are under 33m deep are located just under a mile offshore. Which I believe in your case of meters it would be roughly 1400 meters. Which makes them reachable by either boat or kayak. (Both of Which I have). Our current is usually the only thing we have to contend with. It's mostly mild but can change drastically from day to day due to our close proximity to the Gulfstream which Ironically supplies us with our generally clear warm waters year round. However even when the currents are bad they won't drift you offshore they just run longshore either to the north or south which just makes you cover more ground during your dive. (good if you're on a boat, long paddle back to the truck if on the yaks… Lol) Our style of diving is mostly drift diving with an abundance of reefs and wrecks I promise you we could dive different spots everyday for a month and still have spots left to check out. If you do a bit of research on south florida dive locations you'll find there's an endless supply of diving opportunity here.
Dean, do you think the penetration on 9:57 was really safe? How do you estimate, could you do safe penetration or not? I may be wrong, but to my mind, it would be extremely risky for me.. And thank you for this another grate freediving video including planing phase. This is useful for not so experience people like me.
+Lar4en I could see the entrance and exist from outside, looking directly down from above I could see the distance between was not very long. It's was do-able. But margin for error is basically none.
The Scuba guys can stay down longer and poke around more, but, man, you look so graceful and fluid next to them.
A joy.
I scuba sometimes, normally night dive.
These documentary style videos are great. Your content gets better and better.
diving next to scuba divers like a boss

Love the idea to put google earth preview at the first of your video. Someday i will follow diving spot that you already visited.
I appreciate your guam dive vids. I dove on everything I could when I was a sailor myself in 1982. Glad many sites still exist.
I like how you told the whole story and your planning. Well done mate!
Man, I could watch this stuff of yours for hours.
Lovely.
Great choice of music too.
Thanks.
One of the best free diving videos I've ever seen and enjoyed the most! Thank you for your share from an Australian freediver / spearfisher.

NIce video. Glad Hsinni was able to go along with you! She's a good paddler. I like the tone, pacing, and music. Very well done.
the part where you swim through divers is so much fun! loughed a lot. the dive itself is rewlly nice and your choice of music is awewome

The low visibility, made it look much deeper than 18 meters, I was sure it was around 30M until you confirmed the Depth and Visibility!!!! Thank You.... I love your vids.
fear factor was like 30m! Wasn't really a fun dive, high stress levels. Thanks for following

I just found a boat sunk in a river in my last upload!!
great dive, can you come over to australia? and do you ever carry a dive knife in warmer waters because of sharks? because the other day i went out diving and saw 3 gummy sharks that were decent size

Another great video! Do you use any weight? And I'm asking in general, not only about this dive?
Wear 2kg with my 2mm wetsuit, 5 kg with my 5mm. No wetsuit no weight
11:21 dat bad ass diver is like '' no f*ks given ''
amazing

thanks dean for this video,,, i did not se you partner, but i think that you have it!
Hey great videos, but i have 1 question. How long can you stay under the water swimming?

hi sir may i know how do you shoot so stable video while freediving? tqtq ^^
One day your going to be on the Discovery channel.
Awesome video. Really illustrates what a joke SCUBA is compared to freediving. Any idiot can get a PADI and SCUBA
I lived in Guam for 4 years but I wasn't old enough to ever go diving 😢
Hi Dean. The shirt you use on the dives. Does it offer some kind of thermal protection like a wetsuit of is it for something else?
No, im just using it for the sun (used to get sun burn on my back while on the surface breathing up). But I do put my hood on, which is neopreen and offers some warmth, since you do loose a lot of heat through your head, so its helps a small bit... and keeps the sun off my neck.
almost reach the standard of discovery channel documentary
