Freediving Yonaguni Pyramid | Aliens or Lost Civilization? | Yonaguni Monument

  • Yonaguni Monument. Pyramid? Lost City? Lost Civilization? Natural? Work of Aliens? The Island of Yonaguni is full of mystery. Lets go underwater to freedivie the Yonaguni Monument.
I first heard about the Yonaguni monument about 6 months back, it fascinated me, and i dreamed to be able to freedive it one day. It's on one of the most remote islands in Japan. There is only a small town, there is almost no people in the street, and only a few shops selling basic items..
From where I am based in Taiwan, its very difficult to get to yonaguni, without going going in a big circle of connecting flights and boat trips. However, by chance, I heard of a one off charter flight being offered, which had some seats open for sale - however I already had other plans for a diving trip to Green Island.... but after some thought, I cancelled my Green Island trip, and reserved a seat on the charter flight. I had to bear all the cancellation costs for my Green Island trip, so it wasn't an easy choice - but this charter flight was an almost once in a life time opportunity so I took it. Despite having just started at a new company, I managed to get some days off work..
Before and during the trip I had cold and fever, which made diving almost impossible - however I managed to do it. To make matters worse, the dive company only gave us 40 mins time at the dive site, which means I had to rush to see the whole monument - no time for breathing-up or relaxing... long swims followed by diving immediately.
Due to the short time at the dive site, the following day we paid a charter boat to give us 1 hour on the dive site. To my horror, right after jumping into the water, my GoPro dive housing flooded with water, and the camera was dead within 30 seconds of my getting in the water... the result is I have no videos from my 2nd dive.
This video is dedicated to all my subscribes on youtube for being so supportive over the past year - without all the positive feedback I have gotten from my subscribes I might not have made the effort to go to Yonaguni and film this dive.
Whether the Yonaguni monument was made by aliens, a lost civilization or it is a natural phenomenon, I just don't know. Nobody knows. Watch the video and decide for yourselves.
This video was also not cheap to produce - It costed me somewhere in between $2000-$3000 US dollars to make - so your support by liking my videos and subscribing is much appreciated.

Pointing the camera at himself is just fine, I think it helps to show a lot on how deep he is and his rate of kicking. Cool video!

When he surfaces @ 4:15 the rock formation behind him looks similar so I'm not convinced this is man made.

As for the tips video, I want to do another one sometime, but not sure of the topic. It's important for me to pick a safe topic, and avoid the possibility of somebody mis-interpreting it. Some topics i have though of is"efficient diving - hold your breath longer underwater" or "How to freefall" Stay my video release schedule is not that frequent, but I got alot plans - there will be more - Do check out the older vids, ones like "Justin's Caves" are actually my best vids, but have least views.

stay tuned man. I'm keeping my eye out for any more charter flights heading to this island. There is another site here i'm gonna check out. Also considering making a Audio commentary version of the video describing my opinion on the features of the site alien/natural/man made etc.

Hey Vladi, Thanks for your comments. Sure there is some documentaries on Yonaguni done by the History channel, and im pretty sure thats on youtube. Becareful when viewing these documentary though, sadly a few of them contain downright fake footage and pics. For example any documentary showing 'the face' structure is fake - that does not exist. I will do a another Yonaguni video with audio commentary to explain all the parts of this site - will do it this month - so subscribe - don't miss it!!

acheirs, I might do another video soon with some audio commentry to describe certain points on the monument. And i will try give the arguments on both sides. There are some face pictures and videos on the net though where the images have been edited to make it look more human/alien made. Alot of pics or video of the 'face' are fake or photoshopped. This video is of course 100% real.

You can see a few if you look closely.. but yeah, the pyramid is not a hit with the fish. I did another video called "Freediving Japan - Yonaguni Extra (Bonus Footage)" which is just some random footage of me diving around the island when I wasn't at the monument.. more fish in there, and also some turtles. Oh one more thing - Don't miss my "Searching for sharks - Freediving False Bay" video, which i did last week.. i get quite upclose and personal with some fish there.

Thanks for the comment. If you want to swim, its a 1.4km swim. Yes its close to shore, but the is a sheer cliff, you will need to start swimming from the nearby beach. Depending on the conditions there could be strong currents. If there are, there is no way, my very first day there, the current were insanely strong. However the second day the I had already decided to take the boat and the currents were gone. this time of year? Well the video was take on the 21st of September.

Thanks Pagasus! Your welcome to subscribe for more videos in the future! Lead weights are mainly to compensate the extra buoyancy from your wetsuit. Without a wetsuit I become relatively neutral from around 8m, shifting to sligtly negative after 12m. A direct vertical decent, and freediving fins make it easy to push through the first 1-7 meters where I am still positively buoyant.
