      What are you confused about?

    • @jennifersculpts
      @jennifersculpts 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@audaciousred I've been using Olaplex No. 3 for a long time, but my stylist told me how to use it correctly. If I was to pick up a bottle of this on my own and followed the directions, I could have really harmed my hair. That's a problem. Now anyone can purchase it from mainstream stores and websites, but the directions are sorely incomplete and misleading which is causing a lot of problems. Olaplex's website says: "Step 1: Apply a generous amount from roots to ends on damp, towel dried hair. Step 2: Comb through once and leave on for a minimum of 10 minutes or more. Step 3: Rinse from hair, shampoo, and condition." The directions on the bottle are basically the same, except they say, "Leave on for a minimum of 10 minutes. Longer if desired." So, it's confusing to many because Olaplex never warns users to not leave it on overnight or why. If someone is not familiar with it, No. 3 Hair Perfector sounds quite innocuous and the directions make it sound like it's perfectly safe to leave it on as long as you want.
      Reading the directions on the bottle is not the end of the story. If you read them I think you'd understand how someone could be confused based on the conversation here and the warning that Silvia gave. There's really no need to be mean about it.

      Well, one reason you should not use it a lot is something she said in this video. She said it will dry out your hair. Its more like a treatment and its better to do it once in a while.

      You can use it more frequently if your hair tends to be very brassy IF you shampoo again after it with a very moisturising and nourishing shampoo and conditioner.

    • @mhairi3726
      @mhairi3726 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Olaplex is one of the best products to prevent breakage. It only needs to be on 5-10 mins on damp hair, then washed off, once a week max. Coconut oil, olive oil & argon oil are really good too, so are hair masks like a banana one or egg one. The Redken hair mask is good too, but all the ones she mentioned should be good to condition & repair the hair. With time (4 to 8 weeks as a guide, with weekly use). Also I just read today that if you have dry/ damaged hair, then only shampoo once a week rather than every day (most shampoos dry our hair out, so perhaps a gentle shampoo would be good too) Just be patient & hope that helps ❤🙏

    I know I'm late in coming to this, but I really appreciate your videos. You're down-to-earth, open, honest, and you give sound reasons for why you do or don't like something. This video was such a revelation for me, specifically your unwillingness to recommend Oribe's products. They've been hyped so much and I've fallen trap to that. I'll look at different products from them and try to justify spending a ton of money on them. I have purchased their Dry Texturizing Spray and felt basically the way you do: not worth $50 (is a texturizing spray ever worth that amount of money???). It's amazing how effective marketing, beautiful packaging, and endorsements from certain "influencers" can be. Thanks for setting those of us looking for the best products for our hair free from that craziness (or giving us the nudge needed to feel completely comfortable saying "No" to them). Your thoughts about Olaplex No. 3 are also on point. You are clear in your reasons for not being able to recommend it and it demonstrates your integrity. Thanks for a great channel.

      It's meant to be added to the colour/ dye/ lightner to prevent the hair breaking. You can add it to damp hair but only for 5 to 10 mins and then wash off. I don't know why anyone would want to leave it in longer than that. It's a bond builder not a conditioner. If you want to leave anything on your hair overnight as a mask, the best thing is a natural product like coconut oil. Even most conditioners aren't meant to be left in overnight! They can cause a lot of damage if left in too long (they stop the hair from breathing, like being suffocated). Hope that helps.

    Sorry, but I literally saw my hair get repaired with No. 3; and I used it on clean dry hair, in order not to dilute it further and left it on for 24 hours re-applying and keeping it covered. I knew the active ingredient in the No.3 was much much less than the No. 1 or 2 and I thought why dilute it further with water? I did not believe in it for a second, but it worked, when I applied it the way I did. I suspect it would have not worked as well in the 10 minutes as per instructed on bottle. I apologize, but I have to disagree, because sometimes we can make the most of certain actives by using them differently. I think, Olaplex should listen to people who use it in different ways and maybe update their mode of usage. Until the day, I justify to purchase the No.1 and 2 , I will continue to use the No. 3 in the way I find it works the best. Thank you Elle, this is not about you, it is an overall rant 🙄

      They literally said the product is not designed to do much after 40 minutes in your hair and that leaving it overnight can cause fungus, but I'm sure you cracked the code Alanca and have figured out something the literal creators of the product somehow missed. No only that but the product literary works more efficiently on damp hair bc it designed to penetrate the hair better when it's wet, bc it is the diluted version of n3 that goes on wet hair unlike n1, but nooo why follow instructions? You are tooo smart for that aren't you Alanca? they definiteeeely need it listen to you. You are special and different and not like other girls you ignore manufacturers' instructions, good for you.

    I've used no. 3 several times and have never had issues. I just recently purchased the new No. 0 to use before the 3 and didn't notice a difference in how the 3 felt. I've also left 3 in overnight and didn't notice a difference versus when I only have it on 20 min. I think 20 min or so is plenty. Also, recently I found a dupe at Ulta that I find works very well and is cheaper. Not the same ingredients I'm sure but I can't tell a difference in the way my hair feels. It's call uberliss bond sustainer. I also use olaplex shampoo and conditioner sometimes. I have used the green biolage pack and didn't care for it. I do like the Nioxin masque. It feels hydrating. I have fine, damaged, bleached long hair and am always looking for hydrating/healing products. It's overwhelming because there's so much out there and I have tried sooooo many. I will be trying the ouai detox shampoo soon however I heard Neutrogena cleansing shampoo works just as well so I'll be trying both. Just my thoughts and experiences.

    Hi Silvia. I signed up for monat under your link probably close to 4 years ago. I am shocked that you didn’t include the rejuveniqe oil in this video. Is the olaplex oil you mentioned in this video better than the rejuveniqe oil? I kinda wanna try it now

    Hoping you can help me. So many people love Olaplex and I have used most of their products as well. However, I looked at the ingredients in some of the products and they contain Dimethicone. Isn’t that a big no-no as it technically dries your hair out because it prevents moisture from getting in the hair shaft? I’m just confused how everyone loves these but technically based on the ingredients they aren’t the best for your hair.

    Thanks so much for acknowledging the lack of training in ethnic hair! I have asian 2b/2c hair and got blonde balayage for about two years... I don't think my blonde specialists (both caucasian blonde women) really understood or were able to communicate with me why I wasn't able to get to the level or tone I needed, and also did not sufficiently emphasize the need to heal my hair especially with how many levels I had lifted.

    Omg! Thank you for your Input on Olaplex #3! I’ve seen so many great reviews and been told to sleep over night with it. Well I used it, and I did leave it in over night, and for hours thinking it would restore my bleached hair. I did this twice a week. By the third week, I was having major breakage. I was losing so much hair each wash and each time I would comb through my hair. It a was bad. So bad I had clumps of breakage and my hair was felt more damaged. I had no idea why, then it dawned on me the only change to my regimen was adding olaplex #3. I ended up cutting my hair so short. I had to. I emailed olaplex and they said there is no ingredient that can cause breakage and suggested to use Malibu clarify package. I’ve read reviews on Amazon saying the same experience I had. But people are thinking it’s not a legit olaplex product on Amazon. I bought my directly through Olaplex.
    I even jumped on TH-cam searching for anyone else having this experience using Olaplex 3. I seen this video having no idea you were gonna be the first on TH-cam to bring up the negative results using Olaplex.

    Thank you so much for the info on Olaplex no 3. I bought it a few weeks ago. The first time I used it I thought it improved my hair... after the third time I saw many broken pieces near my face and my hair was started to look even worse than before I bought it! I have olaplex no6 and no 7 and have to say the same thing. At first worked well then a week or so later my hair is not improving. I'm still on the hunt for something that will improve my fine curly color treated hair that is always breaking. :(

      I’m a hairdresser, loved all the products at first. I had a good inch taken off about 2 weeks after I started using it, and within 2-3 weeks I needed more off. Usually I take half and inch every 3-5 months depending so I was shocked at how quickly my ends went gross on the ends. It didn’t do this when I used pureology for the 3 years prior. I’ve switched back, am gonna get a good trim this week and not use it anymore. I used it all correctly but my hair just didn’t like it at all.

    I have just received my first Olaplex order which consists of #3, #4, #5, #6 & #7. The instructions on #3 are a bit confusing now. Basically I am able to use it once a week or for extremely damaged hair 2 to 3 times a week. Leave on 10 minutes or longer if needed 🤔. Could you please recommend the correct way to use this product? $28.00 for each product. I would hate to just throw it out! Olaplex is also offering #0 & # 3 for $28.00!
