I don’t own anything Traxxas, but this has got to be one of the most useful and impactful factory afterthoughts I’ve seen. It all fits together perfectly! Great job in covering it all so well in this tutorial. I hope Traxxas is now using low cg platform in their current trucks, so people don’t have to do as ll this. Great job Troy. Happy New Year my friend!🎉🙌🏽🍻🧨😝
@@RoadsideRC the main reason is because they sell so many of them for spec racing and for mud boss racing many people use the high cg chassis for spec racing that’s why they still make them this way they sell a TON OF THEM LOL
I don't even how a Traxxis Slash, don't know why i watched this video fully :'D But it was very well detailed without unneeded waffle, good one ! Happy New Year Troy and Family :)
I’ve always been a crawler guy, but I’m considering some kind of go fast truck and I think I’ve narrowed it down to the Slash VXL 2WD. This looks like a very good upgrade right off the bat.
It's awesome. Goes very fast depending on battery type and gearing combo used (pinion/tooth). Doing donuts on dirt is pretty cool. 2WD is the way to go.
@RoadsideRC recently subscribed, do you have a recommendation for short course wheels and tires for indoor track in Middleboro or the farm for a 4x4 senton v3 blx
@@4reelfishing635 Those will be two completely different tires. Apex in Murfreesboro is not welcoming for a 4WD SCT. For RC Farm, I have been using Pro-line Holeshot tires.
Great simple how to video, typical Traxxas though. Getting you to buy something twice, about time they started to fit the lcg chassis as standard. One of the reasons I dont buy Traxxas is when theirs flawes in their designs they dont put it right, they just want to sell the customer redesigned upgrades & still sell the flawed design products.
The stock Slash is basically a Stampede with a pancake for a chassis instead of a brick, while the "LCG" chassis is more or less a nice Rustler, lots of old DNA in that platform.
Hello, first of all, thank you for your videos, they help me a lot, a question related to the steering system, is it the Slash 4x4? Can it be mounted directly without problem? Thank you
Why not mod the centre of gravity with a DIY battery package casing underneath to lower gravity on the standard body ? Including aluminium protection plates underneath.
Other then the springs and chassis, are the other parts the same as the the original parts that came with the truck? Like the front mounting plate, nerf bars and battery hold down?
Mud Boss racing uses the old chassis. They look like late model dirt round track cars when all decked out. Basically a spec class so people can go dirt round track racing on the cheap. About the only thing you are allowed to change is the body (naturally) , springs, gearing, and a metal servo arm. It's a pretty sweet class of racing cos it's affordable and it's all up to the driver and being able to tune your stock shocks. Hell they even use the Traxxas Slash factory tires and wheels. Check it out!
This is an excellent instructional video and very practical for any Slash owner. I hope you and your family have a happy and healthy new year.
Thank you Michael!
Happy New Year!

Yes - they did good work redesigning this. Just can't figure out why it isn't standard now!

Super straight forward and easy to follow instructions, thank you so much.
Glad to help!
Happy New Year Troy and Family. Amazing year of content! Thank you sir.
Thank you for all of the support Curtis!

Happy New Years!
Awesome chassis swap Troy👊 Happy newyear to you and family
Happy new year to you also!
Thank you so much for this video, this is the best step by step video i could find and was able to swap this with my 12yo son. ;)
Glad it helped!
Great video ! I think you have to reverse the steering servo too . We love some short course racing , thanks for the video !
Thanks!

But also makes it even more expensive than the Typhon - go Typhon!!!

@RoadsideRC good to know thank you , I'll probably play at the Middleboro track more since it's closer and see what those guys are running
It's called rc arena on the Kentucky border I don't think it's been open long
Don't think I could have asked for a better video on this.
Thanks! I appreciate that.
Great video and straight to the point. You have a new subscriber
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
@RoadsideRC definitely was, watched this on lunch break and i will be doing the swap tonight
I have a set of those tires on my 2wd slash too, theyre really good and throw tons of dirt.

I agree - this LCG chassis should be standard!
The stock Slash is basically a Stampede with a pancake for a chassis instead of a brick, while the "LCG" chassis is more or less a nice Rustler, lots of old DNA in that platform.
Lots of sharing of parts between them - no doubt.
Love it I needed this video

Help me understand. Do you mean with no servo saver?
If you do - it will break the servo.
Thank you for the info you provided, very nice and best very helpful 👍👍👍🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
Glad it was helpful!
Love your videos
Thank you!
Thanks bro
You are welcome!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
thanks for this video about to do this same thing to my slash 2wd
Glad to be helpful!!!
Thank you man ! =D

Check the video - it changes more than just the cog.
Also - more weight isn't good - less weight is key to speed.
Awesome video! Are you gonna have a running video now?
Working on it.
Other then the springs and chassis, are the other parts the same as the the original parts that came with the truck? Like the front mounting plate, nerf bars and battery hold down?
Everything you need is included in the kit! The other parts are the same.
Isn’t there some advantages to keeping the higher OG chassis? Like better on jumps and better on rough terrain and grass, etc?
Nope - basically no benefit. Just an older design. I would recommend this swap to anyone who owns this truck.
Just curious if you took this back to the track after the lcg conversion to compare lap times.
Unfortunately, no. They changed the track layout so I couldn't really get a good comparison.
Honestly they shouldn’t even sell the slash with the hcg chassis anymore it’s an old Archaic design that should be discontinued
100% agree!!!
I did mine and now when I turn left it turns right and right turns left I’m lost I’m new to this any help thanks.
You can reverse the servo direction. Check the controller manual to see how to do it.
Does the 4x4 slash nitro have all the hop-ups ?
It does not. Starts at a similar base trim.
Did they do a black lcg for this? I found one but doesn't seem to come with all the extra bits that the blue one has
I don't remember if they provide a black one. I know some folks were using RitDie to color them.
@@RoadsideRC cheers. I prefer the grey than to the blue lol. Your video was very helpful.
Can you use the LCG for just regular bashing? Links not for drag
Yes! Much better and stronger for bashing as well.
I seriously don't know why this chassis isn't the standard part.
How did you shorten the servo linkage?
I don't remember shortening it at all.
Just wondering… is it any better around the track now?
I didn't get a chance to run it. But - all logic says it has to be better.
Where did you get your screwdriver from
They discontinued the exact model I have. Replaced it with this one:
amzn.to/47S6Sp9
You had some issues with the shorter screws for the steering?
I'm sorry, I don't remember what you are referring to.
Those two screws with the two little washers at 08:10min😅🤷♂️
@255brain Ah! Thanks. Nope - never had any issues with them.
Thx mate, mine came in today:-) including lcd chassis👌😋
Does the Low CG chassis still qualify for Spec Slash?
Depends on the track you run at.
Is it cheaper to convert into 4wd like chasis arms ect or buy a 4wd
The 4WD and 2WD share almost zero pieces, so a conversion would be very expensive.
@@RoadsideRC like in the 400 to 900 ?
does anybody else’s steering go backwards if so lmk how to make right
Check the Traxxas TH-cam videos for swapping the direction on the controller. Pretty simple!
How does it race with the lcg chassis. Be a good rematch against sc10
I have not had the chance to get them back out head-to-head after the swap.
Ok, would be cool part 2/ rematch. My 2cents. Nice videos, thank u
What tires is this?
Just some cheapo tires off of Amazon. They are HARD AS A ROCK. :)
Cmon show that finished product with the body on
? It basically looks the same. What are you getting at?
I wonder if that chassis would take a bottle of rit dye? The blue is too much for me. 😂
It might!
I believe they have a Black LCG Chassis now. 🧐🤔
👍👍😁😁
At this point why are they coming out with HCG chassis
I don't understand it either!!!!
I hope they will incorporate the new LCG chassis on future 2WD Slash RTR offerings.
Perfect timing. Picked up a 2wd vxl Slash and a lcg chassis. Will be doing the switch over soon.

@Adam Rodgers I have taken over a small dying club. I'm going to make a 1/10 oval in our track. And try make it more 1/10 friendly
