I heard the back glass is the cheapest part you can replace on a Samsung. With a case I'm pretty sure your screen will never crack. I got my S9+ yesterday :D

He isn't testing Samsung's glass, he's testing the Galaxy S9+ specifically. The way that a phone is designed affects the durability of the glass even if both use the same type of glass. Apple's design supported the glass better during the first drops.

Everyone has to keep in mind that you can still change the back glass of the samsung yourself for just $10 but you can not do that with the iphone and will have to spent crazy money to have it repaired!!

Always loved these thorough and precise drop tests that you do! Too many other testers just drop it from their hand or at a specific height just once, and it always lands on a corner and they call it good to go. You're the best drop tester, man.

Actually with a protruding camera the damage should be worse theoretically because the damage is contained in a smaller area.

Banglaz Bless not saying protruding cameras arent ugly cancer but that means that the drop hit the phone on the camera + a small corner on the opposite side instead of taking the hit on the whole back's flat surface spreading the hit over a bigger surface area and making it weaker, if anything, the bump made it worse than if it didn't have it

I dropped mine once and it shattered the back all around the camera, 2 days later my mic stopped working. Wasn't even a hard drop. So far the replacement being in a life proof will not have that issue again.
Reading this comment section, there is a lot of misinformed, biased, and unrealistic comments. So I want to clear a few things up here. Assuming that you don't have any sort of insurance on your phone, Apple is charging you $550 to replace the back glass, and $280 to repair the front glass. I will admit that I don't know the actual price on Samsung to replace the front and back glass, due to Samsung making it very hard to find pricing on repair services on their website, but out of the several articles that I've read, I've seen anywhere between $200-250 to repair the front glass, and about $100 to replace the back glass. If you know how to do it yourself, you can find replacement parts for Samsung, and do it yourself for way cheaper. Unfortunately, Apple has made it harder with the iPhone X, unlike any other phone manufacturer, to repair the phones ourselves. If we do manage to fix it ourselves, usually another component in the phone is sacrificed such as wireless charging, or the water resistance. With Samsung, they've only been making their phones easier to fix it yourselves, and there's tons of videos here on TH-cam on how to replace the front and back glass on a Samsung Galaxy.
As for the people saying "Well then don't drop your phone", or "Get a case and screen protector". I don't know of a single person who would want to go out and pay upwards of $800-1200 dollars for a phone, and intentionally drop it just to break it. Sometimes crap just happens, life happens, and we have no control over it. Can we get a case and screen protector for our phones? Yes. Do cases and screen protectors always work? No. Glass is glass, and if it hits just right on a hard surface, it will break. I've seen phones break in an Otterbox case, because the phone landed face down on a rock. Think of cases made for phones, like the airbags in your car. Airbags are designed to protect us from dying in the event of an accident, but they don't always work because all it takes is the right impact. Same thing for cases, they just don't always work.
Now for the phone's themselves. The Samsung Galaxy S9 has better water resistance, better camera, better display, better battery life, true gigabit LTE, true multitasking capabilities, more RAM, has a headphone jack, has a Micro SD card slot, comes with a fast charger for free in the box, while Apple is making you pay $80 dollars for one, if you drop and break your phone, with Samsung you can fix it for way cheaper, and there's probably a lot more that I left out. That's just the hardware side of the phone, don't even get me started on the software. All while still remaining over $100 dollars cheaper than the iPhone X. The only thing that Apple can argue about how their phone is better hardware wise, and not be biased about it, is the slightly better facial recognition. Other than that, Samsung beats Apple in most aspects in terms of hardware. If you don't believe me, go look it up for yourselves.

Although Apple still has a little more advanced Face ID over Samsung, you still have other options such as the fingerprint sensor, pin, password, pattern, or you can stick with the Face ID. With Apple, you are limited to Face ID or a pin. I find the fingerprint sensor to be slightly faster and more accurate in little to no light conditions anyways. Also, all of the other features that the Galaxy S9 has to offer over the iPhone X makes up for the difference. Another way to look at it is you’re saving upwards of $100-300 dollars by choosing the Galaxy S9 over the iPhone X. I don’t know of a single person who would want to go out and pay $100-300 dollars more for a phone just for a slightly better Face ID, that’s just stupid in my opinion. To each their own though.
Adil Alkanzy It must depend on the area then. Here in the United States the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is $840 for the 64 gigabyte version and the iPhone X is $999 for the 64 gigabyte version. That’s a $160 dollar difference between the two. Even $80 dollars where you live is a huge difference to me, because $80 dollars is enough to pay my cell phone bill for a month and still have $30 dollars left over. Assuming people want a fast charger for their phone too, Samsung gives you a fast charger for free in the box, While Apple is charging people $80 dollars for a fast charger. So that would make it a $240 dollar difference between the two here in the United States, and a $160 dollar difference between the two where you live. That’s quite a bit of money you’re saving by going for the Galaxy S9 plus.

I own a S9+ and once I dropped (thank god it didn’t shattered as it was in protector) but since then my S9+ is having some functional trouble, whereas my iPhone 6s+ I have dropped it million times and it has no trouble in any case

The camera saved the iPhone x back from cracking as it didn't land flush on the back like the s9 did, all the shock went into that camera bump on the iphone x

Just a tip.. The I phone didn't crack at the first drop because the placement of the camera protrudes from its body, so I guess that the I phone would have had exactly the same results if it had a similar structure to the s9plus, no matter what kind of materials they used to create that device. Just saying.
