Something that maybe a few fans know is that Wagner Lamounier is the brazilian version of Dave Mustaine. He was fired from the band and started the 2nd most famous trash band of that time called Sarcófago. Just like Megadeth.
Bathory, Kreator and Sodom too, but Bathory changed to a viking metal sound, and the other 2 changed to thrash metal since then (making experimental albums in the 90s)
For me Sepultura died the day Max left and started Soulfly... Simple as that. I listened them until Roots album, franly i never really paid attention to everything that came on Derrick era.
Arise and Chaos AD, in my opinion, are among the greatest metal albums ever. Bought them when they came out and was blown away by them. What they've done since is good, but those 2 cannot be surpassed.
I was there at the show where Sepultura first appeared with their new lineup, it was an L.A. show and they went under the name "Troops of Doom." As soon as they hit the stage the crowd went crazy.
By the time I discovered Sepultura in about 1997 of course they had already broken up. I'll never forget seeing the Kerrang cover with Derrick Green and being so excited the band would continue, I love all the Green era records
Once I got past the initial shock of how different Against was I really started to like that album, and every Sepultura album since. I honestly think if Max had stayed in Sepultura and continued along the NU metal path of Roots/Soulfly just was many people would have bitched and been upset.
@@Gregbaltzer The band would have went in that direction alright, whichever direction (the hardcore/groove onr they took with Green, or the Nu-metal one with Max) they would have taken, I think the band died around 1995. @@MoonOvIce I loved Chaos A.D., and I loved Roots. Roots hasn't ages as well with me. I could never figure out if Max is a trend hopper, or if the music he writes is just influenced by what he's into at the time. Max and Iggor have both said they both are always looking for new music and don't go back to old albums really. But I have never been a genre purist, and I really don't care if a band changes their style, as long as what they play still falls within the wheelhouse of the type of music I like. I'm a fan or old school hardcore eg. Black Flag, Bad Brains, DK etc. so having that influence in there doesn't turn me off. Trash? You mean Thrash?
Sarcófago is a Black/Death metal band. By the way Sepultura's first guitarist ,Roberto UFO, played on Sarcófago too.
