Isn’t discarding 2 cards a requirement? As the card is worded you need to discard 2 cards to perform damage, if stated deal damage then discard would be an effect, if so it would be step E perform attack requirements (discard 2 energies), then deal damage step G with double turbo no atached anymore… so 120 damage
Good question! It comes down to how the card is worded. "Discard 2 Energy..." and "This attack does 120 damage..." are separate clauses. You aren't required to discard 2 energy in order to do 120 damage to 2 Pokemon. Discarding two energy is just a result (ie effect) of using the attack. If the sentence "This attack does 120 damage..." instead read something like "If you do, this attack does 120 damage..." then it would be step E. In the latter wording, you'd be required to discard the energy first because the game wouldn't know if the attack would continue until you discard the 2 energy. I hope that helps!
