As you can see, our guy starts off-center and drills quickly while shaking the drill to knock the screw out of line. He puts in much more control with the magnetic tip afterwards

@Francisco ArancibiaRobles that’s fine, I can respect that. As an electrical apprentice I don’t work much commercial so it’s not a big sticking point for me.

Legend has it, that screw is still on the bit to this day. And when they had to leave the screw in, they had to leave the drill behind.

the best way to sell something is to make the already working solution look like it's inconvenient.
for anyone watching, theres a reason we use plain old drill bits for running screws into things
yeah, i was thinking that screw is just gonna spin freely on the top of the material lol.
You could start by using the proper drill lmao, I used to do roofing and we did a lot of sheet metal roofs, never had that issue with an impact driver and a clean bit for the self tappers
The clip is just dumb. Those screws should be hammered in before using the drill
@@eduardoreis94 I've never had to hammer those in before starting them, that steel is way too thick to even try
Absolutely, but I think for sure having a strong, controllable magnet would be super handy
@@jamiepaugh2841 not really, just gets in the way because it will magnetize dust and shit and throwing the angles of when you drill in it, causing that exact same issue. A good bit and the proper pressure is all you need
@@eduardoreis94 bud those are self tapers you don’t hammer them…
All you need now is a big boy drill, or maybe an impact, and you'll actually get more than one screw driven per minute. Don't need a magnet, just not a sears brand drill.
…remember that Sears went bankrupt
Those cheap screws will be broken buy a impact. It happened to me earlier this week. He would be better off drilling a hole first.
All ik is, when i use the impact, i go slow until i get a bite then drive it home
Well first it helps to have the drill on forward which he didn’t for the first screws. And he made sure to go full speed to try to hide that
How about the fact he had the drill spinning the wrong direction, then when he switched to the "amazing magnetic bit" he decided to switch it to the right direction and it magically worked 🤣
I didn't not notice that
Wrong
@@Turretdown_Hero ya your right. I went back and watched. The first time he did it it looked like it was spinning the wrong way lol. But I noticed the direction switch was in the correct position
you’ve obviously never changed a drill bit…
Lmao nah , he just changed the drill bit , u gotta put it in reverse to get the bit out then back forward to put the new one in
With the regular drill bit it spinning left on purpose to loosen so it would have never worked any way and with the magnetic bit it was spinning right
Do you mean that the drill was spinning to the right?
@@miguelmendoza3403 before putting on the new tip, it turned counterclockwise, and then clockwise.
No it wasn't. You can see the direction selector never changed.
Good one. Had to watch a few times.
It's held loosely against a bit of weld the first time, that's the difference
Husband: "Damnit! HONEY, I can't get the damn screw off the bit!"
Keep practicing dude, no need for magnets 🤣
I wasnt paying close attention were they going on reverse at first lol
Omg they were😂😂😂
I feel like having a magnet out of an mri machine on the job site isn’t too safe
Legend has it . If u drill straight not crooked . The nail won’t fall off.
Of course, without this I can't live anymore 😂
It helps to use the right size Phillips bit not a pointy worn-out one
Or torx to begin with
No one uses Phillips for this kind of shit
Well done homer!
Why would you use Phillips bit to Pozidriv screw?
For people saying it was going the wrong direction, the button which changes the direction is in the same position with and without the magnetic bit.
Step 1: Dont cheap out a drill.
Step 2: Do it right the first time.
I could feel the heat rise up the back of my neck watching the beginning 🤣
Those things wear out in like 20 uses and if you strip the screw once you can throw it away as it won't hold a screw anymore
Now you just need to get you a drill from this century
An impact driver and screwing straight down would magically make the normal bit work.
New headline- Fish man flipper hands gets magnetic drill bit for birthday.
You’re dropping it on Purpose
The first couple of screws he tries are in the ridge on the steel but the one he tries with the magnet is on a nice flat peace of steel.
These videos are great for bluetooth background noise. My wife thinks I'm building something while I'm watching an F1 race with head phones on.
See properly first He was drilling on a metal piece...😂i Got You ⚡
And he was in reverse
That screw is made for metal, the tip is made to shave little pieces of metal off while borrowing into the metal. The problem is to screw into metal you need to apply the same pressure while screwing and it’s common for the bit to slip off the screw if you’re going too fast
Use an impact on self tappers! They spin twice as fast as any drill... if you use a drill and you have a whole building of these to do, you’re NEVER going to be done...
For real right! I work in the sheet metal industry and i swear they would have tore this dude a new one for not only talking that long to drive the self tap but for using the driver instead of an impact. Like come one we have 6 floors of air duct to install lol
If this guy wasn't selling magnetic drill bits, he'd be selling snake oil.
Yes! I too struggle with the problem of not knowing how to use a drill all the time? You're telling me that for $18 and shipping, I can finally be able to drive all kinds of screws? It's genius! I can finally wire the electrical outlet to my bathtub, which is an equally smart idea as this bit.

Those screws are for metal, that's why they don't want to initially go in.
USE A IRON SKREW!
Read my comment.
Hmmmm.... Is this not metal?? And iron is softer than steel, steel has carbon, the screws are exactly for what he's doing, I do red iron construction for nms same screws used but we use torque head
Does someone think this isn't metal????
Weird how the first 2 tries, you tried to screw into a screw that's already there
Me picturing every screw just has a drill attached to it forever
Would’ve helped the first attempts if you would’ve had the drill turning clockwise instead of counter clockwise... just a thought.

They're self tapping screws, they basically have a drillbit for a tip. But anyone who should be allowed anywhere near a drill wouldn't have the problems this guy's having getting them to start.
Me with a working and functional hand:
Boi 👏
What they don’t tell you is once you put a screw on, you can never take it off.

With the first drill bit he had the drill in reverse
Well...glad I was on the toilet for this one 😲
Ой урооод
Also is no one going to talk about the fact that he's doing this on a public railing, just to get a nice shot of the CN tower 😆
I just chuck the screw directly into the drill, works like a charm👍
Most of you hardcore workers know that the drill is in reverse and he is adding pressure to the bit that’s why it flys off
he was like "screw this"
Thank god the title is not "wow amazing wood working" or "wow amazing machine"
Did anyone else picture the guy start spinning instead of the screw like a cartoon
This is literally an infomercial. He doesn't know how to use a drill the first few times, can't even put the screw on the end properly but then all the sudden he gets the newfangled toy and he's able to keep complete control and drill it in perfectly fine with no problem.
When you realize that a regular screwguide will basically do the same thing
Man put the weight of his family tree into that drill
Like my dad says push it down real hard till your through two hands if need be:)
Steel framer here, magnetic shafts have been a thing for 30+ years the screw tip will get deformed with high use and then replaced, magnetic shaft is what you want
Johnny homeowner tools always make me laugh. It's like take the half a day of using the drill to gain the low level skill involved in driving screws.
I don't suppose you can make a glove that gets u to stop dropping screws 😂
I've waited my whole life for this...
Bro... hold the damn screw.
I was literally thinking of an invention like this when I was helping my dad at work today lol
Moral of the story, dont use self tapping, pan head, Phillip's screws.
You weren't using the right Phillips bit in the beginning. That's why it wobbled. You should have used the less pointy square tip. Common mistake. But also, that 2nd bit it pretty sweet if it holds that well.
I usually just drill a smaller hole than the screw itself then run the screw through, take a minute or to longer, but cheaper. Lol
Я бы посмеялся когда и в 3 раз самарез вискачет)
Create a new problem

This will help hvac ppl drill through plenum. Idk how many times i lost a screw
im suprized that self tapper even made it through without eating the head away
I feel like I just watched one of those informercials where the actors can’t even pour milk so they need the “Wonder Pour 3000”.
Well I’d suggest not giving full force right off the bat till you get it drilled in at least a little bit 😂
This dude just spinned the drill the wrong direction 💀
This shall be on my wishlist for Christmas.
Or just grt a right hand
And afterwards you have to leave it there because of how hard it is to get off
Alot of people are talking about the improper drill/bit. But no one's gonna talk about the fact that that's not even the right screw for the application?
It never ceases to amaze me how they come up every day with a BRAND NEW and NEVER SEEN BEFORE and INNOVATIVE tool that nobody actually needs because they don't damp their screws in oil before using them 🤔
? Can u expand on that? Screws in oil? Like a lubricant for the cinder block?
Hey bud that first bit works just fine you just have to put the drill in forward not reverse, don’t know if you knew that but it’s a great little trick
