Phoenix was a Corsair in a towel thirst trap issue for those into that kinda stuff, Wonder Woman was a prolonged torture issue showing that torture doesn't really work, Gotham City Sirens was pretty good this week.
Man, I just dropped Destro because it wasn't doing it for me at all. The first Energon Universe title I have dropped. I'm glad I stuck with Ultimate Spider-Man because the last two issues have been off the chain, man! Have a great day, brother & much ❤
Phoenix doesn't work for me because while the entity known as Phoenix is a cosmic power, Jean Grey is a mutant, born as a human. She is relatable, while her cosmic identity is alien and aloof. This book just seems to be at odds with the duality of the character and finding a way to make a solo book compelling. I think Jean does best as a supporting character (ideally part of a mutant team). "Red Coat" is such a fun take on alternate history, and Simon Pure is an entertaining rascal as the main character. "USM" is on my list too. Only "Conan", "Transformers", "Rook", and "Red Coat" are currently ahead of it. Wow... just realized my top four are all indy comics! That's crazy, but I think also a sign of the times.
Redcoat was my top pick this week. Lots of emotion, good art, and an ending i didn't see coming. I was actually disappointed with destro this week. The writing was really lazy and there was about a million plot holes that really just dumbed it down for me. I liked the other 2 issues but this one was horrid for me.
I think Peter's suit in USM is more AI, but he chose to have it be his own voice, so he's sort of talking to an AI programmed to mimic him. So yeah, like talking to yourself but not exactly.
Love hearing your thoughts. I am loving Ultimate Spiderman, actually loving the entire Ultimate Universe. Wonder how long before Walter Hardy's daughter, Felicia, makes her appearance. Not a big DC fan, but do like Wonder Woman, checked out Wonder Woman when King took over and dropped it after about issue four.
Ultimate spidey (and Xmen) is my fav currently. However the notion this being an elseworld brings it down a bit for me. I’m afraid they will not matter in the bigger scheme of things. This isn’t the “real” Pete.
NONE of the comics are real! The canonical stories usually suck. The best comics from the big two are noncanonical. ASM is not more "real" than Ultimate Spider-Man. But ASM is bad writing and bad art. And USM is a good story and art. Life is too short to be reading bad comics! Ultimate Spider-Man is so good, I've subbed to UU Black Panther, UU X-men, and the Ultimates.
@@langreeves6419 agree USM is good, hence I’m picking it up monthly. However ultimates - dropped it. Not my cup of tea. Also I wouldn’t go so far saying the best are non canon.
@Lwitkowski but I've read a lot... And it's no contest. Noncanonicals beat the canon. I mean, ok, there might a noncanonical story that is bad, and a very rare in continuity story that is good. But averaged out? The Noncanonicals win! I am hoping the Ultimates gets a bit better. I do find them to be the weakest of the UU titles.
@@Lwitkowski I thought we were pretty much in agreement. We both like UU Spider-Man, not as impressed with the Ultimates.... And I think noncanonicals the best, and you agree that they are good, but not necessarily the best.
