Very nice presentation and looks delicious. I make this dish in a number of ways. Oddly enough I now add pie dough to the bottom of the pan and prebake until slightly brown. The cake batter bakes the same time poured into the pie shell. My crumble always includes pecans and brown sugar.
Just made this with fresh, quartered cherries and blueberries. I also added 1/2t of salt and 1/2t cinnamon to the batter. The streusel topping was delicious. Dusted with powdered sugar... yummy!

For a person who tries this recipe at first, don't try it for an occasion. Make a trial before the actual occasion, I suggest. You are doing a great presentation. Keep it up

I tried this recipe. My cake came out beautiful! The club soda does make it rise. Thanks for the tip. The only thing is that I feel like the taste of the cake was not like regular cakes made of butter. I was wondering if instead of oil, I could use melted butter?
