- Another version of the song (about a spiritual experience I had in the mountains above Denver - see earlier version), experimenting with the new mic jack to the phone and harmonizer.
And So I Came Here
by James Burkey
G D(no top string) F (no top string) C (no top string)
Upon a great stone, overlooking valleys
Twisting in their slow, ancient dance
To a song only heard by those who dally
Here quietly, willing to take the chance.
To listen to the silence, to feel without touching,
To seek that which can not be found,
To dream in the waking, to hold without clutching,
To embrace what cannot be bound.
And so I came here,
To be alone, to find some space.
And so I came here
To this hallowed, sacred place
And so I came here
To feel the sun and wind on my face
And so I came here
Seeking peace, seeking grace.
White peaks far off in the distance
Shimmer in the late evening light.
I sip from a stream, I drink of existence,
Glimmering stars cue the coming night.
Above me cries an eagle, while far below
A coyote barks at the setting sun.
But the rock still holds the warm heat of daylight
And so I stay to listen to the song go on.
And so it goes
Ageless timeless
And so it goes
Meterless rhymeless
And so it goes
Wordless endless
And so it goes
Comprehendless
And so I came here,
Finding solace,finding space.
And so I came here
And found this hallowed, sacred place
And so I came here
I felt the sun and wind on my face
And so I came here
Finding peace, finding grace.
