I swear every time I watch one (many) of your videos and you “mess up” it makes me come back and watch more of your videos! You normalize woodworking, the process, and show hey you may mess up and your plans may not come out as you first want them but you still go for it! THANK YOU!!! It truly helps me especially as a beginner!

It's actually realistic and when you realize it happens to professionals it doesn't make the average DIYer feel like such a failure as I do after watching all of the highly edited (basically fake) videos.

We have a pantry in between the kitchen and the dining room - it's got sink, coffee station, junk drawers, and dishes. First kitchen designer wanted to tear it out to increase the already big kitchen! I like older houses bc each room and space has a purpose rather than one big catch all (ahem open floor plan).

Just found you this evening as I was taking a break from my project. I'm converting a hall closet into a pantry and I'm ticked off at the irregular walls. Seeing you show us that nothing is regularly sized calms me down. I'm using free shelves, $3 fir strips, a cheap Harbor Freight drill, and a jig saw to do this. I was concerned about the water lines in one of the walls but my house is old so doubt I can poke a hole in those metal water lines. BTW, I'm a single, 62-year-old female DIY'er who loves watching brilliant people creating stuff on YT. Thank you for posting!!

But the results were beautiful and functional! Great job!

  • @Feejer1

Good build. Although not part of the original plan, I would have put in a water line/spigot for the coffee and tea machines since you already had the wall opened up due to the unforeseen waterline issue. Not a big deal since it wasn't part of the original design. I know it's not that far to the kitchen to get the water, but I would look for opportunities to kick it up a notch as long as it doesn't cost too much.

A job well done, but it looks like you had way more functional food storage *before* the remodel, and after it looked like less of a pantry and more like a kitchen with all of those drawers. Also, that tiny space will function a whole lot better if you installed a pocket door.

    • @Sdority905

It's called a Butler's Pantry. Technically still a pantry that looks more like the kitchen than just a storage closet

    • @EdgarAllanJo
      @EdgarAllanJo 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@@Sdority905 Based on the actual definition, and its location, that is most certainly *not* a Scullery/Butler’s Pantry. Even the owner correctly refers to it as a “small pantry”.
Also, I was critiquing the lack of functionality of the space and the undermining of its storage capacity. The new design focuses on style, but the old designed offered far more function.

The problem in America, depending on where you live, is that many of us don't have easy access to a grocery store. Many of us, including our friend here, live in either traditional suburbs or planned communities, in either case grocery stores usually are not convenient to where we live so we have to drive, sometimes long distances, to reach the store, this is why American homes tend to have a lot of food stuffs on hand since it's easier to stock up once a week or so instead of making daily trips to a store.

Beautiful! You’re my new favorite obsession here on YT. Why? Well, because you’re amazing at what you do and now my husband has new projects! We’re going to watch this one together this weekend. 😉

I am here to say thank you for properly spelling "you're". The amount of times I have seen people write "your awesome" blows my mind.

What a good job! You're much more resilient than I am. I chose the easy way by not cutting outlet holes in tiles and opted for those in counter pop-up outlets.

It's refreshing to see you making mistakes like all of us. Good job. To avoid the punctures, you could have routed out a long 2 in strip of drywall. Identified the studs, and put a mounting plate to cover the studs.

I had a similar situation, a plumber friend of mine advised, if you ever screw into a pipe, don't take the screw out else it'll flood the floor. By leaving it in, that'll give you time to turn of the main water supply.

If you use a magnet you can find the screws in the drywall. The screws go threw drywall into the studs. Works every time. Love the videos. Keep it up

I have a pantry about that size-- maybe a bit narrower though. Got one of those rolling metal rack shelves on the left and built in shelves on the right. Door also has shelves and is heavy. I like the layout of the kitchen.
Yikes. The drilling through waterlines is something that would happen at my house or my best friend's house. I do like that you show where things go wrong bc it really does set in the reality of how things don't always go as planned-- which is usually what happens when my best friend and I work on projects. Things will break or not cut, even when we are following the instructions to the letter.
Awhile back I had an outdoor waterline break (it serves an automatic water trough for my cows). I needed to put on a shutoff and replace the broken part. But water wouldn't stop coming out of the pipe. So, I went to the main water shutoff (I have a well system so its in a shed). I was trying to get the shutoff to turn but it was stuck and I fell on top of the pipes (which were PVC) and broke them. It got too cold to use the PVC cement for a few days (stores were out of the all weather stuff). I was already having issues bc my left deltoid was electrocuted by a cracked induction cooktop (it electrified the pan and zapped me hard).
I really feel for you watching the tiles fall apart. I wonder if there is some way to carefully score it first.
Man, I wish my walk-in pantry had enough space for appliances. This ended up looking great!

Great build. What would have been a sweet addition to the build. The bottom draws as step. For the your wife to reach the top shelfs when your not around.
