    I think the best thing about your CS series is the fact it’s all unmodded.
    Too many TH-camrs have gone down the route of going crazy with assets and mods, and it makes it completely unrealistic that people who watch their videos can be inspired to do the same in their own cities.
    The double trumpet you built, although time and money consuming, will be something I will attempt on console edition.
    Query about he removal of trees one at a time. Does PC not have the brush feature?

    • @krasnamerah1926
      @krasnamerah1926 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      As far as i know, PC version didn't have those bulldozer brushes. The brush are only for zoning.
      Oh, by the way, i'm agree with you. But it would be better if the devs allowed more than 9 tiles for the city. As for now i use 81Tiles mod. It didn't change anything except number of tiles allowed to be purchased, and the price's keep increasing each tile.
      Along with more resource density for ore and oil so that those industries didn't ran out of raw materials too quickly. Maybe 75 years with normal rate is enough. Using Infinite Resource (in-game) mod is too far for me....
      Oh, First-Person POV Camera is a must. The mod itself is good. I hope the Dev implement those mods into the vanilla game.

    • @Bigbadbenji2008
      @Bigbadbenji2008 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Alvin Benrick All the vanilla maps on console could do with more than the 9 tiles.
      Some are pointless to play, because there is not enough land surface to build a decent city on.
      Funnily, the Console version has both the first person POV and the brush for removing trees in large numbers.

    • @ChemySh
      @ChemySh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm pretty sure vanilla PC has brush feature. I just use the brush to paint trees, set it to any size higher than "single" and right click. So basically same tool you'd use to paint trees over an area, but instead of left-click (which places the trees), you right-click (which will remove trees over an area).

    @27:20 Yea, was gonna say you don't need roundabouts for the entrance/exit to the highway because there's no cross traffic. Since they're all 1 way roads you can have 2 lane highway split into two 1 lane roads and the trucks should pick their lane properly.

  • @peperoni3140
    @peperoni3140 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    if you observe the truck traffic in and out of the cargo terminal, trucks enter from the side of the containers and exit a little further up. This can cause some traffic in front of the terminal. So I think the direction of the road should be flipped to maximize efficiency.

    I think, that generally it is a good idea to have the roundabouts go counter clockwise with right hand traffic. That way, vehicles exiting at an exit won’t hade to cross traffic entering the roundabout there.

      Indeed, both the roundabout handling the outgoing traffic (from industry to highway) as well as the oval-a-bout (connecting the cargo station) are set up clockwise, whilst you want counter-clockwise roundabouts with right hand traffic (so they don't need to cross oncoming traffic when entering and leaving the roundabout).
      TL;DR: You want to turn right on a roundabout, not left

  • @egzefer_
    @egzefer_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Before you moved the garbage processing from the end of the layout to next to the roundabouts, those roundabouts weren't needed at all.
    Unless the idea was to expand over that direction as well, simply replacing them with straight roads would be enough.
    As for the garbage processing, all they needed was a dedicated highway access, so that they didn't need to go through the industry area.
    The fist position for garbage processing was quite nicer, IMO.
    Anyway... Road layout, train layout, and the area itself, are amazing.

Regarding the time lapse, I enjoyed it and the explanation too. Your industry district looks lovely. I would however recommend making some space for services, like fire and police. As well as a few plazas or parks for the leisure needs of the industry district employees. Hi All, Wow another great video
    I was shouting at the screen when you placed the garbage sites in that corner - the furthest distance away from the city
    For the industry itself, it may help if you have just one industrial site there, although the system will dispatch it to anywhere ( i really hate it with fire , you see the station in the next street, but that fire station send a truck elsewhere miles away )
    With the rail, once i buy more land , i try to change the rail to have 1 x commuter train intercity, and 1 x freight train intercity, then reword the local tracks so that almost no rail track carries commuter and freight, it helps with the train congestion
    I did like your solution with the main highway link and the 2 roundabouts - #1 for rail and #2 for the other new industry
    Maybe expand it to 3 roundabouts so the garbage exits first and turns left
    Another option is to run a separate road from the tip to the commercial / industrial zones, you are running vanilla so it will have all traffic ( if it was not vanilla then traffic manager would bock all cars that were not recycling - but on this map as vanilla it is not a option - a shame vanilla does not have roads for garbage, hmmm can you use bus lanes ??? i know they allow emergency vehicles, what about recycling ??? hmm , i need to experiment )
    I may copy your set up on the weekend, what i may try is the 1 freight rail feed to branch up as you did to industry then to other industry , commercial , and the other one to just go to the new fishing site but to have 2 stops eg one near the fishing area and the other at the bottom end of the new industry where the garbage was for a short time. This would allow easy cross /loading of fishing to local industry or local markets eg truck will cart from the second fishing station just a few streets away to end up on regulart freight line for local or inter city
    Regards
    George

    Your two roundabouts go wrong way around? In right hand traffic they are usually anti-clocwise, not clockwise like yours. And this particular case they should, as: Your inward traffic has much shorter distance to get into main industrial are roads as they have only 1/4th of roundabout to circle. 2. Outgoing roundabout traffic has to cross inward (when there is gonna be so, theres not one yet though) coming traffic that kinda spoils whole use of roundabouts, and makes it just a regular crossing. But other than that: Good looking an well thought zone!
    Also one trick I use when demolishing my initial industrial zones is: I just convert them first to (vanilla) forrest industry (acriculture also works) zones that will clean up their soil, so then I have also option to build residential zones in there without ppl getting sick.

    Great work! I always look forward to new episodes. Would the cargo roundabout be more efficient if going the opposite way? The way you have it, vehicles exiting the station are getting in the way of vehicles entering, causing a slight delay in traffic.

    The interchange and the layout look great, but I'm not sure if it's worth spending three-four hours into when you can achieve the same result by simply having more than one way in and out. The one way system serving the cargo terminal was already bottlenecking, until you gave half the trucks a faster way in and out through the waste management area :)

      But then you wouldn't have 3-4 hours of relaxing interchange-building time topped off with the satisfaction of seeing it work at the end ;)

    I agree with the comments.
    The first one, It’s a roundabout FOR ONE WAY, makes no sense. You might as well ditch the roundabout design and CURVE the road.
    The secondary roundabout is fine.
    Also, use lane mathematics.

    I am new to your channel and playing catch up on this series. All I can say is WOW! Loved your timelapse, both watching the building and your talking through it. I would never have thought to place rail lines like that. Also, how you have so much money with such as small population I don't know

    why would you build roundabouts for 2 point 1 way street intersections? it seems like a good way to cause a jam in traffic. it seems like an over complication when you could have had lane number matching and splitting do the same work without the risk of standstill bottle necking

  • @krzychaczu

    I like watching you planning the city!
    If you'd like to make it more realistic, then please consider much greater radius of railway turns as well as much less steep (rail an road) slopes, e.g. 3m every 12 cells (96m). I know this will be challenging, but it is in reality.
    P.S. The rail loop at 16:45 most likely won't be utilized, because the route through generic industrial park and cargo station is quicker.
    👍

    Beautiful industrial layaut but maybe not so efficient.
    Whit some other expansions and maybe a specializated industrial district can be extrimly efficien, but for now is only an overkilling road design.
    For the future episode I have an idea: maybe you can sink in the terrain the first highway exit that you made and transform it in a proper highway bay-pass whit 3/4 connections whit the nearbady city districts and olso connect the city whit the higway next the university's river bend when you ll buy the next tile.

  • @stevieinselby
    @stevieinselby 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Am I right that you have carefully threaded a road through your interchange that doesn't actually connect at all to the highway or either exit? I'm sure there's a plan for that, and we'll find out in another episode!
