Video Shows Car Pileups Allegedly Caused By Cable Guy's Carelessness

  • Could a cable company truck be the reason for blocking roads and causing cars to slide into a ditch in Indianapolis? On Tuesday, a Comcast /Xfinity truck was filmed by a man who lives in the neighborhood and alerted the cable workers about the messy conditions they were causing during the harsh winter weather. He pleaded with the cable guys to put out more cones to warn drivers to slow down; however, they only had five, which were already out. #InsideEdition

      @@Jordan23501 mate its legally required to put up warnings in difficult-to-see road sections, especially during bad weather. At least in pretty much the entire western hemisphere. That goes for individuals already, but for company or government workers doubly so. If your car breaks down just past a curvy hillcrest and someone crashes into your car when you didnt place warnings like cones, a reflective warning triangle or a passenger waving arms frantically before the hill, youre 100% at fault. The only question is, did the company inform the cable guy of that requirement? Was it part of their training before the incident? Or did they have a contract clause for employees to read up on laws relating to roadside work?

      @@mrdark9916 its actually a good idea to do that, test the limits of your cars in controlled conditions like on an empty road or parking lot during bad weather. Optimally before you get it checked out and maintenance which improve car handling done. Go to an empty, maybe icy lot, practice controlled braking, do a few donuts or swing your steering wheel about a bit to lose control and get back to driving a straight line within as little space as possible, that sort of stuff. Doing that at least once a year or every two years with every one of your cars (if you have multiple) in bad weather will be very beneficial for learning any car's limits.

      Here's where the law gets tricky. Comcast is a private company and not a government-funded agency. (That we know of).
      The fact that they can freely stop their vehicles and impede traffic flow puts them above the laws that were created in order to maintain safety and order amongst drivers, pedestrians, motorcyclists, and cyclists.
      Regular citizens cannot just go and park their cars in the middle of the road and set up cones and say, just move around me.
      I doubt that these Comcast drivers obtained permits to redirect traffic flows.

Yes these people were driving way too fast for conditions, but the road work was not properly signed for a blind hill. If that was a tractor trailer broken down and he didn’t have one of his warning triangles placed before the crest of the hill, he would have been at fault. Same goes for the cable guy. No different than a blind curve. There should always, ALWAYS be a caution sign well before any work being done around blind curves and hills, period. Aaron Friedman regardless of whose child is dying. The fact remains. ITS NOT THE CABLE GUYS FAULT. He did his job. He did what he was legally supposed to do. there is a reason you don’t go flying through residential neighborhoods or around blind corners. It’s not his job to make sure people aren’t stupid. It’s not even his responsibility to prevent an accident. It’s just his job to make sure he’s not legally at fault. Beyond that, good luck.

    • @VirgilHawkinsIs
      @VirgilHawkinsIs 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Aaron Friedman its got nothing to do with ethics, he did everything he was supposed to do, if they arent required to put out extra signs then you can be sure he didnt have them even if he wanted to put them out and its not compassion because the accident is the fault of the reckless driver no matter what. Comcast doesnt send extra workers to direct traffic unless absolutely necessary and they have the personnel to do so...in which case you still have to wait on them and you will be told to do what you can until they get there. he HAS to park his car where he did and he stated why. His priority is his safety above all else. You park your vehicle there to keep people from running into you. There was nothing abnormal or special about this situation. This is the environment they work in 24/7. Regardless of whether you like it or not he did everything he could to be safe and I'm glad we never worked together as well...I dont care much for self righteous people who speak on situations that they obviously have no experience in.

I get that you want to argue morals in a situation about lawfulness but from just a lawful perspective do you honestly think it’s his fault?
