    QD: Bright color ways for both road and trail running shoes. Life is too short to skip opportunities for extra fun. I also like the idea of being more visible to cars when I'm commuting through town to trail. Can't wait to pick up a pair of Noosa 14s! Thanks for the glowing review buddy!

    QD- I definitely like the look of the bright colorways, but I prefer to wear the blacks and the grays. Running battle I'm looking forward to this year is the Hoka Mach 5 vs the Asics Novablast 3! That's going to be a good one!

    For any "heavier" runners out there wondering if the noosa 14 will work for them. YES! I'm 6'2 and weigh 217lbs and the Noosa 14 is a fantastic shoe. Perfect amount of bounce and energy return. I don't feel like I sink into the shoe with every step. 👍

    I have put nearly 900km on the Noosa tri 13 so far and I can't wait for the 14 to finally get released in Australia.
    I do every run and triathlon in that shoe and it has never failed me, it even got me to ditch my Nike Pegasus Turbos for races.

    I bought the Noosa Tri 14 a few days ago. I moved from running to triathlon last year. As soon as I saw your review, I realised I had to have this shoe! When you reviewed the Asics Glideride 1 and were super happy about it, I bought it and enjoyed it so much that I bought it again two times after that and ran my marathon on it. The Noosa Tri 14s came in yesterday and I completely agree again: they feel GREAT! And as a triathlete, I especially appreciate that they come with an extra pair of (elastic) laces!

    The two shoes are very similar in profile. When you look at them side by side in the thumbnail of the video, the almost look like the same shoe in different couloirs - heelflare, rocker, a gentle bucket-seat for the heel.

    I love my Tri Noosa 14’s so far! They have been great for a long easy day and preform awesome on a tempo day, very versatile shoe in the rotation. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to try the Mach 5 but I might have to give it a chance. But Like you said ASICS is on to something and I’m counting down the days to the release of the Novablast 3!

    I have 200km in the Noosa Tri 14. I love them for track/intervals work and any runs under 20km no matter the pace.
    What I really dislike about them is the texture of the laces which makes them unlace randomly if they're not tight enough, but that's easy to fix.

    Ran in the Tri 13 and the Mach 4 last year. I thought the Tri 13 was the better "TWEENER" shoe. The Mach 4 was actually a little too soft for me personally on faster days. The Tri 13 really was the swiss army shoe. It went fast, it went long (took it on a 24 mile long run) and it was just soft enough to be forgiving on the everyday miles. Plus it lasted me 450 miles while the Mach 4 broke down after 200 miles and I couldn't take it past 300.

    QD: Most of the time I’ll go for vibrant colorways, but the Black/Pure Silver version of the Noosa Tri 14 looks mighty cool 😎 Kind of urban army camo, but with a couple of palm trees thrown in the mix 😉 As far as the shoe itself goes, a well deserved winner of this battle!

  • @Tang-qi6zw
    @Tang-qi6zw ปีที่แล้ว

    QD: I tend to prefer simpler, but bright colorways, but also get a few themed (like a beer shoe or a St Patrick’s shoe or a Christmas ugly sweater shoe). But a solid neon green, or solid safety orange is a pop on the shoe. I’m not much for the patterns like tie-dye, except for the holiday shoes I like to wear for holiday 5ks where I’m not anticipating winning or PRing, and instead am there to run in the community.

    I have the 14 and it is tough as nails. With 150 miles of hot weather running the noosa is still cranking along, just now showing some wear. I’ve tried many hoka’s with the Mach 4 being the most recent and I’m off of them. They just don’t hold up, rarely ever getting more than 200 miles on a pair. The 4’s have 175 miles and they have been worn smooth.

    QD: I like subdued color ways so I can match them more easily with my daily wardrobe. It's nice to extend the life of my shoe after I've already put 300-500 miles on them, reusing them as much as possible before creating more waste. It's also easier on my feet/legs to walk around in old running shoes if I have to stand/walk a lot during the day.

    @joeystrickland7955 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am a heel striker and have heard that I should have a shoe with a larger drop. I loved the Mach 4, but the wear on the heel area was extreme. What do you recommend?

    • @taylorsmith6143
      @taylorsmith6143 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Drop relates to where you put pressure in the foot more so than where you land. Typically higher drop shoes put more pressure on the forefoot and lower drops put more pressure on the heel and Achilles. People often suggest higher drop shoes for heel strikers because they’re naturally a little softer / more cushioned in the heel, hence the success of the brooks ghost for a lot of casual runners who are more likely to strike with their heels. That being said, whether you want a little more padding is all personal preference. In terms of the added wear, that’s just a trait of the machs not having any outsole rubber, the bottom layer of rubberized eva is more subject to abrasion.

    • @taylorsmith6143
      @taylorsmith6143 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Realizing this kinda came off as me calling you a more casual runner, that’s not what I meant lol. Just pointing out a lot of casual runners heel strike (and there’s nothing wrong with heel striking either).

    i don't know how the durability of mesh uppers can hold like 350-500+ miles when all of my mesh types of running shoes got a whole on the mesh after 6-8 months on the toe box area while mostly walk than run(an old nike pegasus i had hold a year till got a hole)

    QD: GOTTA BE BRIGHT! Everything else I wear is so neutral. Plus men's clothing is just so much more boring, why not have fun with the colourways? Thats why I have always had a soft spot for Hoka as well as Saucony over the past few years!

    I’ve gone back to my Noosa for training and I love it. It feels faster and more comfortable than my hoka carbon x . maybe a better for my style of running. Over all the ASICS are more durable. My Hokas never lasted very long.

      As in “in between” categories such as speed shoe vs easy run shoe vs racer, eg. It’s considered an positive because it implies the shoe is versatile for many use cases.

    Brighter colorways are proven to make you run faster because they reflect more photons backward and propel you forward, or something. I love bright colors, but they're hardly ever available in a narrow if it's even made in that width at all. I do have a pair of women's rincon 3s in a hot pink that are currently my favorite shoe I own appearance-wise.

    It is clear that the shoes you love are always the shoes that are lightest. Is it a coincidence that you keep running into injuries?

    • @levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183
      @levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s true he puts a lot of value on weight, but how do you connect that to injury? In the case of this comparison these are well cushioned shoes and he also reviews plenty of max cushioned shoes. Modern/supercritical foams are able to provide a lot of protection without much weight. This is not the reason he’s injured.

    • @richardrankin7488
      @richardrankin7488 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The weight of these shoes puts them in a racing shoes category. If you insist on wearing such shoes for more than racing you are playing with fire.

      @@richardrankin7488 I mean his training is greatly flawed, and studies show training load/capacity rather than shoes or biomechanics are much more important

      Plus, there's basically been no change to injury frequency since the 70s, meaning shoe technology really doesn't matter for injuries in general.
