    I've run 512k so far in the Rincon 3. After 100-150k the midsole changed into a flat tire which is a bit disappointing. Otherwise, it is still in great shape. A minor issue: in wet conditions the grip is poor. Overall, it has great value for the money, but for a similar price I'd rather buy the Puma Velocity Nitro (which I had before, loved, more versatile, comfort and grip, and lasted 1000k).

    Thanks for this. I had been running in the Rincón 2/3 and bought a pair of the Mach 5 for faster sessions. For me, I am pronating slightly in the Mach 5, having rolled my ankle many times over my running exploits. The video here showing you running in slow motion in really helpful, because I can see how the Mach 5 flattens much more under the mid foot than the Rincón. That probably explains my particular issue with it. I would add that the Mach 5 is one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever put on my feet. It’s too bad its not working for me, but man does it feel good on the foot.

      Ok so you made a bad decision going mach 5 with the rincon 3 better. I have had 4 pairs of rincon 3 so far and only issue is they loose their bounce and midsole flattens quickly

    Agreed 100%
    FYI I returned my Rincons as they did not feel snug enough on my foot. May be ideal tho for wide feet. Mine are normal so to speak. Mach5s are a dream. I may even prefer them a tiny bit to my Triumph20s head to head (would be a great comp video ?)
    Happy New Year to the team 🎉

    Good comparison..... agree with pretty much everything (including the durability). Mach 5 my favourite.

    I know there’s often a lot of comments about the durability of the Rincon, but I’ve just knocked out 500km in my R3’s and they’re still in fine shape. The rubberised EVA on the outsole has held up just fine, and there’s still plenty of bounce. I’m 6’3 and 83kg, so not exactly a dainty runner, and run on a variety of surfaces. The Rincons have done several hundred kms on trails and fire roads for me, and have been great.

    my Rincon3 is at 860km n still in my rotation. midsole felt a lil flat at around 600km mark, but still useable for less than ~12km run on flat tarmac/asphalt n no problem on gravels.
    I now use it predominently on gravels. Upper n outsole still holds, i guess i can get it to 1000km 👌

    I am still on the Rincon v1 because I only use it for speed workout and races, I really enjoy how soft and reasponsive the foam is, a little bit narrow though so looking forward to get v3 or v4 at some point.
    I did try the mach 4 and was not a fan on how stiff it felt and was worry on the outsole as well.

    hello sir, loved your video. I am a regular gym goer but lately i have done two road marathon 5 km. its like 1 marathon in like 3 months or so . now i want to go for the 10 km one however i dont know which shoes to buy clifton 8 or rincon for marathons and for running on treadmill at times. I like to sprint as well when i have had my 2 marathons. I am not a professional marathon runner but a beginner who has ran 2 marathon till date of 5 kms. next one want to go for 10 km road marathon . kindly advice for marathon and running fast on treadmill at times.

    Rincons are nice and fast for me because they’re light, but I rarely pick mine up except for a snappy 5km every couple of weeks, because it’s the only shoe where my knees tell me they felt the run after… I’m 5’7 140lbs so a very average slim female, not a heavy person… but the rincon just doesn’t feel cushioned enough. I’ve done 10kms in them but I won’t go further… I also get blisters in rincon on a 10km behind ball of my foot… never in my new balance shoes…

  • @eado
    @eado ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’ve never understood the durability comparison between these two, since rincon has that extra rubber protecting the Eva foam …

    • @q20a08
      @q20a08 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Wide is of interest to me. Hoka uppers typically too narrow forefoot for me. I'm guessing this might optimistically run similar to a NewBalance 2E ? Personally, a 4E would suit me even better, but I'm sure that's extremist dreaming on my part.

    Great, thanks for the video. One suggestion: Mach 5 x Mach 4. I have the 4, I like it, but when I tried to use on long run I didnt like, it seems that you dont have the response with more miles. I would like to know if 5 is better on this

    • @NielsPilon
      @NielsPilon ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Mach 5 is a bit more responsive / bouncy compared to the Mach 4. I loved the Mach 4 but the Mach 5 is even better if you ask me. Really comfortable shoe for a long run, I use it all them for all my long runs up to 25km. Highly recommended.

      from my experience with hoka as a heavier runner (120kg) their shoes become unresponsive after 5km so i would go for a nitrogen infused midsole (maxroad 5, puma velocity, liberate....)

    A very good comparison between these shoes but in my eyes the clear winner is the Mach5 over the Rincon3 💪🔥
    I’ve never run in the mach5 but in the mach4 and it’s fit and comfort is amazing 👌
    The durability may be the same in these two shoes but the fit is so different 😱 The one thing that disappointed me the most in the rincon3 was the length of the tongue 😬 Way to short. Another 3 or 4 centimeters would be good
    I’ve bought my second pair of mach4’s for my work and that says a lot.
    On the other hand the rincon 3 I wouldn’t buy it again 🤷‍♂️ Sorry Hoka if you don’t wanna hear it

I do my tempo efforts in them and probably my favourite shoe in my rotation. Even after 500+k i can still run 300-400km more in them bcoz condition is still up to the mark for it.
