Owen, you don’t go to a Phase 2 establishment straight from Sandhurst. He would have had at least a year as a Platoon Commander before becoming a member of the training team.

Weights increase incrementally throughout the course. When you first start your kit is almost empty to condition your legs to the pacing, and weight is added as weeks progress. The CFT used to be 8 miles with 25kg plus weapon and water as a squad in 2 hours (this may have changed as fitness tests have been overhauled in the last 2 years). This is a very basic level test. You will typically carry more on exercise/ops.

How in the name of fucking god can that young fella be an officer, this is not an anti-hat post, I have mates that were in the rifles, my section commander in afghan was 5 rifles and a good bloke, but I have to say this. That fella WOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED INTO THE PARA REG As an enlisted man let alone an officer ,The other infantry units need to seriously up their game its embarrassing, and it's not even the young lads fault.its the powers that be .
It's a smock. It's a top layer for the field. It doesn't get ironed as that damages the IRR properties, and it gets ragged about because you are crawling about in it. No one really cares what a smock is like unless you are in a Corps who do fuck all G3, or you are a Guardsman. Though he has a few ragged bits that could do with tidying up.
